The Deep Stack this past Saturday (11/19) had 87 players, $5220 for 1st. It was my first trip to Rivers, and it was a pretty nice place. Not a big fan of continuous shuffle blackjack though.

I didn't spend much time in the poker room since I was out of the tournament around 3pm, but I was the one in the purple Kool-Aid hoodie and blue checkbox hat who played really, really awful. Looking forward to making a few more trips here in the future before the casino in Cleveland opens up, probably for some PLO cash/maybe the small Sunday PLO tournament.

Hello all

I am flying in from England to watch a couple of Steelers games in December (Bengals and Browns)

I see on their website there is a PLO Tourny on Sunday afternoons. Do they stick to their tourny schedule ? and how many runners do these PLO tournys get ?

Are there any PLO cash games ?

I have played in Vegas and AC a fair amount and I am not expecting The Rivers to be of that standard but how good is the place and how good are the players / dealers / action ?

Should i check out The Meadows ? How far is it from Pittsburgh ?

Sorry for all the questions thanks in advance for your help

plo tourneys i don't know, i guess not many players.

PLo cash game, sometimes u see it everyday of week usually after 6pm, 2/5 or 1/3 just 1 table at the most, weekend u might see 2 tables, good action.

meadows is about 25 miles from Rivers, if it's just for poker i don't see any reason u have to leave Rivers, lots of 1/3 tables n good action, u hardly c any good players , good luck n have fun

Played here on Thanksgiving. Cash game was sick. Check out this hand.

1/3 game, guy raises to $15, call, call, raise to $75 Allin. Call, fold, Call. 3 see the flop, one Allin.

Flop is 10-7-3 rainbow. Guy bets out $50, call. Turn 3. Guy bets out $100, Call.

River Queen, dude pushes in for $350. Calling station says I have a three and don't know what to do? (he had 3-2 offsuit)

Wait, you called $75 pre with a 3 in your hand, have trips on the river, and are considering folding????
What board were you hoping for, Quads???

I stopped in on Thanksgiving and was sitting at a table. Guy a few seats over from me got his aces cracked 2x in 3 hands.

One guy even said "i think you have aces, i call" and he had pocket 7s and spiked one on the river. I was going to buy him a drink, but he left before I could

So I'm at the craps table this morning and this one drunk guy who apparently has more money than he knows what to do with it keeps coming and going from the table betting up to $600 each on 6 and 8 place bets after the point is set. Now for reference, I bought in for $500 and I typically have around $60 - $150 in total bets on the table at any one time. I was + or - 300 at any given point.

So it's my turn to shoot and the guy comes back. On the come out roll I roll a 9. The guy puts $600 on 6 and $600 on 8 then turns to me and says, "Buddy, every 6 and 8 you roll I'm gonna throw you a black chip and I'll keep the rest." I get excited and I start to imagine how many I'm going to roll and what I'm going to spend my winnings on. So I collect myself for a moment and then shoot the dice praying for a 6 or 8.

Spoiler:
"Seven out"

I got a letter in the mail the other day saying that The Rivers is changing it's rewards system next year. All of the perk points (or whatever they're called) that are on our rewards cards expire Dec. 30. It's time to go hit up some free buffets n at!

Nope. From the letter:

"To enable this transaction, the balance of the points in your current Rivers Edge account will expire on December 30, 2011."

I have a whopping $1.38.

I have a few questions I was hoping some of the regulars would be generous enough to help me out on.

From what I gather, 4/8 LHE is the only limit holdem game spread at Rivers, except on rare occasion. Is this correct?

Would you classify the game as "beatable" for a decent player, or are the players generally too tight/rake too high?

Does the action run late (4 AM?) on Friday nights?

What is the afternoon crowd like during the weekdays; do they normally have LHE games going when you've been there?

Whatever help anyone can offer would be appreciated!

Since it's been a few days and nobody's answered, I'll share my experience this summer when I was in Pittsburgh and played this game regularly. Don't know if things have changed lately.

There was never an other LHE game run. Only once did I even seen an interest list for a higher game. It got about four names and went nowhere.

The game is as "beatable" or "unbeatable" as any other $4/$8 game. The rake is fairly steep $5 +$1BBJ.

I doubt the $4/$8 game ever was still runninng as late as 4AM. Even on weekends it would usually break up by 2.

Weekday games would usually (but certainly not always) start early in the afternoon. I would always call and make sure the game was going (or about to start) before driving over. Monday's was the least likely day for a game to start.

Is there a consistent 2-5NL or higher player pool here during the weekdays? I asked to open a 2-5NL and the floor looked at me like I was nuts.

Was there already a 2-5 NL running? That could explain it.

Seriously, there are 2-5 NL games running all the time. You must have misinterpreted the floor's reaction, or perhaps its cause.

that is not true sir, there are numerous nights (weekdays) that never even get 2/5 running and only have 7 tables of 1/3 and maybe a table of 4/8lhe and possibly (happening a lot more recently) of PLO..
