So sad I didn't get an invite to today's dry run. May go over anyway and just try

NOTE: the poker room is not invitation-only today. If you want to try it out they are spreading 1-3NL, 2-4L, and have an interest list for 2-5NL and are accepting all comers.

It's a real poker room, as I sat down for 20 minutes after work and listened to table lessons from a bad player to a worse player, grumbling that the Ace hit the flop by someone calling the whole way with an underpair to the board, and some 55-year old douchebag slowrolling me while chasing a gutter and hitting.

Live poker!

I think it's a great space. Much more open than Wheeling, but not too big and surrounded by clouds of smoke like Mountaineer. If it keeps busy, it should be really good.

Nice to hear. Wish I would have known it was not invite for the poker room. What was the rake? Also, you said 1-3, so was it 100 min buy and 300 max buy?

Someone told me 1 3 is 100 to 300 buyin, 2 5 is 300 to 500 buyin.

I'm playing on going down Thursday early afternoon for 1 3 or 2 5.

Definitely correct for 1/3, 2/5 had not been spread yet so I am not sure.

Rake for 1/3 was 10%, capped at $5. The drop for a BBJ, if any, was not listed on the card I read. Not sure if it's separate from the rake.

So the NL games will only have a max buy-in of 100bbs??
If this is the case, it kind of sucks..I was hoping max would be 150 bbs.

Didn't anyone else think or assume this would be the case??
i.e. Mountaineer> 1/2NL Max BI 300

Any1 else take any pics of the room?

I guess I should have been more clear as well... I meant that I wanted to know the same thing you did.

I'm happy they have drink holders built into the rail, unhappy I see no betting line on table.
Are they going to be cell phone nazi's like Mountaineer is?
I just came back from Vegas and using cell phones at the table to surf web etc while playing was so relaxing. Mountaineer takes their anti-cellphone usage to the extreme.

not open the 7th- the dealers are getting graded as told from a dealer. open for good at 6am- july8.

they have no betting line and a weird rule about where the line is ( just past your cards?). once the chips hit the felt whether u release them or not- its an action. i asked them if i could keep my cards in the middle of the table to pumpfake bets and take them back. "technically u could." so that means u can i guess. some guys who obv played before were concerned about shuffling chips in front of their cards.

so if oop on the river w TP, i'll put my cards way out and push my stack in just before my cards. scencarios if the ruse works-
villian folds: cool
villian calls w/ a worse hand: cool
villian calls w/ better or raises: "FLOOR! I didn't act yet!" c/f

ty for the freeroll northside

I'm so pumped!!

I got a few ?'s for you 99.

1) what you opinion on the overall set up/atmosphere of the room? You think it will be insanely packed Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun?

2) Is it true Rivers comps blow Mountaineers comps out of the water?

3) And last but NOT LEAST, I hear there are a bunch of nice places w/ good food to eat @ BUT after midnight, it all closes and all you have til the morning is cold sandwiches from somewhere, is this true? If so, this needs to changed ASAP! I hope there is a plan to have something open once the tables opened.

thanks for the time

the room is very spacious and nice. i didnt see any little pokertable-side tables for drinks and food so that will clutter it up a little if they get them. it WILL be packed this weekend. they are talking about running 10/20nl and maybe a WPT event sometime lol!

as for late food. ive already scouted it out. West End Cafe ftw. open til 2am M-Th and 5am F-S.

http://www.theriverscasino.com/dining/west-end-cafe

ive been there a few times. the reuben is good and had a bowl of the chicken corn chowder tonight- also good.

dont know about comps. not that worried about them although i did get my Rivers Edge card tonight. i played w a guy tonight who got to play the chicken in Tic-Tac-Toe. He went first and tied the chicken!!!! WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Ok thanks for all the info...

WPT event would be very cool..
I didn't think the WPT would come around but I though Heartland Poker Tour would be more of something they might do..either way it would be fun!

INteresting about the West End Cafe-My father said he was just there and it was after Midnight so he asked a waitress about what he can order to eat she told him and all that was available at that time of the night were cold sandwiches.

You said you had eaten there..was it after midnight? And was there entire menu available?

I was trying to get some info off of their website...but they have nothing up about poker yet. Just mentioning what games that are offered.

Oh yeah and i was also wondering about tournaments. Will they be offered right away...you would think bu I don't know

I'm sure I'll see ya this weekend some time....

Later,

Anyone happen to hear what kind of LHE games they'll be spreading? I'm hoping for at least some 5/T or T/20, but I'm afraid it's gonna be all NL with just 2/4 and 3/6 limit.

I would not go there today unless you're in the area. DVE will be broadcasting live starting at 7am tomorrow though!

To repeat what Stan @ Borgata says -- agree to start the game short handed and keep playing short. It's your best chance at getting a game running. If they won't start the game short handed and/or they don't have a table for it, you're screwed, ldo. But if you start it short there is a much better chance the game gets running.

Would love to see this, but it isn't going to happen. I played 2/5 with mostly Wheeling Regulars every weekend and they had difficulty in even getting a contingent to play 5/10, let alone 25/50. I would say the biggest game you are going to see with any regularity at the Meadows is 5/10. Maybe during the first month or two of excitement you would see a 10/20.

I'm not gonna make it til prob FRI sometime.

Feel like I'm gonna be missing out big time by not being there right at 6am on Thursday. I'm curious if opening day will be packed with insane amounts of action much more than on FRI-SAT-SUN or do you think Thur thru Sun will equally be as packed????????????

Also, kind of upset The Rivers has no info on their website about the poker room. You would think this would be alr up on the site. bit of a letdown.

SO it's 1/3NL w/ a max bi of 3 and The Meadows is 1/2NL amirite?
