I talked to a poker/black jack trainee and he said July 1st as a soft opening, so maybe we have 1 less day to wait...

That would suck, I'm in Pittsburgh for two weeks... leaving July 2nd. :-/

I just read about it, too, and I was excited. It's the closest I would get to an American Casino in years.

I wonder if these 8 hour 'test' sessions will be open to the public or invite only?

I've tried emailing any contact information I could find on the websites to see if I could get ahold of a 'poker room manager' of some sort to try and get some better details, I encouragement everyone else to do the same, maybe we can get some answers, a few things I would like to know rules and info on

BBJ
Rake
Cell Phones
Expected Limits
Tournaments (SnG's, weekly's, etc)

BBJ - will this really determine if you go or not?

Rake - $5 + $1

Cell Phones - step away from the table

Expected Limits - "we will spread what ever the players want to play" translation: one table of 2/4 limit and 10 tables of 1/2NL

Tournaments (SnG's, weekly's, etc) - yes, hasn't been determined yet, wait to see what the players want. translation: $60 SNG with hyper turbo blinds

none of this will 'determine if I go or not', ass. But there are 2 casinos fairly close to each other (and 4 if you count the WV casinos) so I WOULD like to know the subtleties in policies between different casinos, that WILL determine not IF but WHERE I go.

So, is your information of value, ie., do you have some inside information? If so, what casino does your info apply to, if not, thanks for your grand insight.

Well, you might wait for this particular casino TO ACTUALLY OPEN to determine the subtleties in policy. At this point in time, I would say GO SOMEPLACE ELSE, because this casino in question is not running.

Thanks for all your help. I guess I'm the only one who is interested in the policies of the new card rooms that will opening in the area. Hence why I was emailing trying to contact someone who actually knew, instead of internet random who doesn't know.

Unless you know of something particularly unique about this area, or that the location is in some kind of strange time/warp alternate universe, I would assume this poker room will be pretty much just like every other of the 40+ some rooms in the Eastern/Midwest States.

Maybe it will be Aces Full of Jacks instead of Aces Full of Queens to qualify for the bad beat, or Red Bull is $3.50 instead of $3.75, or some other meaningless small detail, but stuff like that isn't going to be sorted out until THE DOORS ACTUALLY OPEN.

What do you guys do for Christmas? Are you all jumping around grabbing your ass for weeks on end wondering what Santa Claus is going to bring you?

If you look at the website I posted, in the public hearings area, are pdfs of the presentation made by each casino. That should include names (but likely no contact info) for the various table games managers at the two rooms. You could start your hunt there.

False. Wanting information about something new isn't really all that weird. If this thread tilts you so much, stop clicking on it.

idk if im allowed to copypasta this guys blog but here goes..

June 10, 2010 — pittpokerblog

The PA Gaming Control Board just released an announcement today stating that the public start date for table games in Western PA will be July 8th. The center state casinos will be waiting until the 13th and the eastern part of the state casinos will have to wait until the 18th! See, for once, it does pay off to live on this side of the state.

The state’s plan for the Meadows, Rivers, and Presque Isle Downs is to do a test date on July 6th involving groups of gaming board members, analyzing said results on July 7th, and if the board is satisfied with the results, allowing the casinos to open on the 8th.

Anyone know if Presque Isle will have poker as well?

I have a feeling I'll have to go to the Rivers Casino to see my favorite dealers from Mountaineer. Sounds like most are jumping ship.
