i heard a rumor that the room they were gonna use for tournaments is some kinda fire hazard and this might delay tournaments for quite a bit. hopefully this is false.

as for the wpt event in fall, i think i have a better chance of plowing through 10 playboy bunnies. maybe they mean fall 2011, sure as hell aint happenin in fall 2010.

The dealer is dreaming about this fall. WPT schedules their tournaments in advance and established stops on the tour are almost written in stone (i.e. Borgata in September, Foxwoods in late October, Bellagio in December, etc., etc.)

Rivers would have to start a relationship with WPT, and the demand for a WPT event from other casino properties is constantly increasing. 2011 would be an outside possibility.

Tournaments in general are a huge undertaking, including importing additional dealers, floormen for the event. Ask TAB at the Borgata, it's his fulltime job.

Start slowly with a weekly tournament, then dailies before jumping into a major tournament series.

After a couple weeks of opening, get the cash games running smoothly without major delays before considering tournaments. One table SNG's would be the next logical progression.

And.... does any one know who in the PA Gaming Commission is responsible for ALLOWING tournaments. Have to cut the red tape before proceeding.

Have patience PA tournament players. They have built the card rooms, the tournaments will come.

thats one thing i like about playing at the meadows more, the dealers keep the action going a lot more than the rivers

Hello All....

I was playing earlier today(at table 3 or 4-10 seat) and I left an important item on the very bottom of one of the small tables between seat 9 and 10. I called security and they said everything found is suppose to be turned into security but it hadn't been to that point. They would not not connect me to the poker room to ask if they have it behind the desk. From what I understand, it says right on the front desk"poker room #" but i'm not for sure. Does any1 know how I could get in touch with the PR or if someones is there right now or going tonight, can you please help me out? All I want is for some1 to let me know a staff member has this item and my mind will be at ease and i'll grab it tomorrow.

ty for ur time

(found the pr phone number earlier in the thread but i got a recording )

To the very few who've been complaining about how the action is not good and they'd rather go the the meadows and play:

Talked to a specific dealer, who is one of the very best there and also plays in the Pittsburgh area, who said " If I would have known the turnout/action would be this good, I never would have not gotten a job here." He said he continues to see players he's never seen who've been throwing $$$ around like it's nothing. At all limits, but more so in the 2/5 games.

pretty sure i know what dealer you are talking about rail.

ive been in some super loose games, but ive been in some games ive thought were a bit on the tight side to be honest (playing mostly 2-5 and 5-10 nl, more at 5-10 though).

dewey tomkos been up there past couple days, probably like penny nickel games to him though.

hopin they get cash boxes up there soon, would be nice to have em.

I been there there everyday last week except sunday, and then yesterday. I must have missed him. Curious as to why he would there, unless he's from the area.
WHen I heard them calling an interest list for 5/10 on a monday, I was surprised.
You going today? I'll be there about noon. I'll be wearing an all black Pirate hat with a whit P and a tshirt that says something about graffitti on it. Come up and say what's up if your gonna be there.

Good luck!

Dewey is from a suburb of Pittsburgh (Glassport, PA). Might still have family there.

ya dewey visiting family, as witzo said, i wont be up there today, possibly not till friday, i kinda have a lot going on this week.

the 5 10 list on monday was a huge surprise to me as well, i kinda just rushed up there and didnt bring my usual roll, woulda been cool to say you played with a 2 time main event runner up, but i didnt really have the cash.

cash boxes would be big as well because of all the other stuff in the area, who wants to go to the steeler or pitt game with their whole roll on them??

If you absolutely was worried about carrying your roll, you can buy in for your roll at a uncapped game like PLO then get up and leave and have the casino bag your chips then claim them after the game.

still would be a hassle. youd have to go there first then go to your game or whatever else you were doing. a box would be more efficient.

the plo doesnt run 24-7 either, probably would have to buyin to 4 8 limit for 5k

Agreed

Got some info today while I was there from a few dealers who split as suits.

Tournaments are far away. The room next door can fit 10 tables but the entrance out of that room is a fire/emergency exit in case something happens and their not sure of any other rooms they could use elsewhere.

Also, one of the dealers thought they already had cash boxes for bigger amounts of $ but he didn't seem so sure

Man, I'm sorry, but that is super-rude to the other players.

75% full on a Tuesday! Bravo, Rivers staff.

One thing that drove me nuts tonight had nothing to do with the poker room staff: food service was way understaffed and took over an hour for chicken wings....

Seriously, minor nitpicks aside, the room is going smashingly. It's welcoming enough to the random gambler, and really a pleasant place to play. Garrett, you and yours are to be commended.

This is the single biggest thing the Rivers poker room is missing. Safe deposit boxes would give players the conveniece of saving a trip to the bank or home before coming to play.

Drink and food service in the room is just awful, though that seems to be standard for the entire casino. Mountaineer seemed to be pretty speedy and didn't have very many waitresses. I'm guessing it's a lot harder for the bartenders to keep up with all the people at Rivers but it's way too slow right now.

I was playing blackjack over the weekend and it took about a half an hour to get a drink from the time I ordered it. Of course, you have to pay for the drink before you get it and the waitress seemed to be waiting around for a tip before she actually got the drink.

Pa. Casinos Offering Credit To Players

Rivers Casino General Manager Todd Moyer calls casino credit standard in the industry and a service to clients who don't want to carry around large sums of cash.

"It's just a convenience factor with them," he said. "They can just set up a credit line with us and then they'll be able to draw on that credit line through a counter check right at the table."

Rivers clients apply for a credit line with an in-house credit manager who checks their bank record and credit history. If the person is credit-worthy, the casino can extend tens of thousands of dollars in credit.

This news article you reference has nothing to do with poker as the credit they are talking about extending is the credit available to table games players.

I agree with everyone else that boxes will be very convenient if they put them in and I will fully take advantage of them. However, I'll just take some faster service at the cashier window for now.

You can use the credit to gamble on anything in the casino that you want too, even slot machines, you can withdraw the money from the main cashiers cage and then go to the poker room and play poker with the money, the casino can't force you to just play table games with the money that you get out of your credit account!
