Had a great time playing the 1/3/6 PLO game this weekend. I'll be back for the PPO main event next month.

was there any indication in the room whether or not there is a guarantee for the main?

I did not hear about any guarantees for it. But I only vaguely talked about the tournament at all, was mostly just chatting it up at the PLO table about not much at all.

I thought they changed from the 1100 to a 1600 last PPO. Unsure of guarantee but will check schedule tomorrow if I can remember.

I'd like to come in tomorrow to play but see there's a Pitt football game next door. How does the football game affect traffic, accessibility to get into parking or valet, and is there a price to park during the gamedays that gets paid back after you play inside? I would come early (8 or 9am) if it helps beat some of the traffic/slowness (if relevant).

They usually charge something like $50-60 for Steelers games but pay you back after play in poker room. If you are coming in that early I think you would be fine, they might not even start charging yet, not sure.

As I mentioned in the O8 thread, I'd be interested in 6/12 and above, preferably with a half kill (ideally 10/20+, but 6/12 and 8/16 are also fun)

I was just perusing Bravo and saw Rivers is doing $1,000 High Hands at 6pm, 9pm ,12am, and 3am Thursday thru Saturday nights this month. Dang. I'm not sure if this is something they do often, as I don't get out to play as much as I'd like.

I went and played at Rivers last night, didn't realize they had eliminated the BBJ. Interesting stuff.

The new manager is a clown. Room is not nearly what it was when previous manager was there. If you like high hands though, they have them.

Examples? I was there the day before New Years and there was hardly a spot to sit.

the main problem i have, and ive said it a million times to the dealers and in the room at the table, is...why in the world are the BEST high hands (500 an hour, 1k certain hours) done on the weekend nights when THE ROOM WILL BE FULL OR NEAR FULL ANYWAYS. then sunday thru wednesday nights are 200 and a ghost town. a small high hand promo like 200 an hour etc on the weekends would work, while making sun-wed better certainly would improve those days.

How will the new casino license issued in the new castle area - 15 mile radius - hurt this "Rivers" casino? I know it will more then likely have poker in the next 1-2 years.

Poker-wise, very little. For the first year of existence, satellite casinos can have up to 30 total tables (poker or otherwise). After a year of operation, they can apply for an additional 10 tables. The one in Derry Township probably won't have poker since it's basically the middle of nowhere on US 30. New Castle will probably play towards the out-of-town travellers crowd & steer the tables towards blackjack, craps & roulette.

Look at what happens on typical weekend nights around 2. Room empties. During weekday nights in peak season(winter), room should have tables. I've spoken to full time dealers who are contemplating quitting because weekdays have been so bad. The manager has funneled all play into specific time periods. So, even though the revenue may be the same, the room itself is in bad shape.
