Not to mention they're actively lobbying against internet poker. I'm proud to say I haven't set foot there in over a year in spite of going to school 5 miles away.
Your sure bent over about me saying it has easy parking......You really think Pittsburgh can support more then one casino then you need to go back to elementary school.

And why is it just because somebody says something positive about the rivers, it automatically means they must work there?

Why are people hating on the rivers? Compared to the meadows the poker room manager is god.

This is very common thinking I've noticed in Pittsburgh. Just because it's the best option in town doesn't mean it's not crap. You forget that there's an entire world of cities that are not pittsburgh to compare to.

i think the poker room is run good but not great its just that the owners of the casino are getting greedy. i only go to rivers cuz theres barely any games running at meadows. if i played table games only i wouldnt even consider going to rivers as meadows treats there source of income much much better

So since I don't live in Pittsburgh and I play there only rarely, I'm going to pass this on, but please be aware that this is alleged information and I have no evidence to support the claims made.

A few weeks ago, I played at Live! with a person who claimed to be a Rivers regular who alleged some pretty serious scamming going on by the waitresses in the poker room.

The scam requires the following:
- Waitress collects several orders at once. Among those orders are:
- Regular ordering something on his comps
- Non-reg/non-comp user ordering something with cash

Waitress takes the order from the non-reg and adds it onto the players order, paying for both orders with comps. Waitress then charges the non-reg the full price of their order, and pockets the cash.

Since non-reg gets no receipt for cash order (usually), he doesn't notice anything, and regulars tend to just sign the receipts w/o looking cause they're in hands.

The player had said that he noticed that his comps seemed unusually low far too often, so he started reading his receipts and caught that he was getting over charged on his comps, but whether any corrective action was taken with the waitress is unknown, nor is it known how wide spread it is and whether any managers were supporting the scam.

So - watch your receipts guys. Be careful. Even if the allegations are false, it's a good idea never to just sign w/o looking.

Maybe this happened to DANTES and why he's so pissed at the Rivers Casino.

Sick Story if true.

Was playing 40hrs/week at rivers for the last few summers and can say i've never been charged 60$ for parking in my life lol. The only parking fee I've seen is on Pirates home games where it's 10$ for parking but if you play 3 hrs or more/get 1k points, you get free parking as long as you take the slip in to the appropriate place.

Also, the meadows is legit 20-30 min drive. If anything, for the size of Pittsburgh, having two rooms within 30 minutes of each other would be rare imo.

I think I might know who you're talking about, as there's only a few rivers regs who attend Live on a bi-monthly basis or so. I've heard this horror story, but can't confirm/deny it's truthfulness. I think what really happens is regs will buy food for non-regs with their comps and take the cash from the non-regs so they are essentially clearing comps in cash. Maybe the story got lost in translation somewhat though, not sure.

No, this is absolutely not what I was told was happening.

The reg who was telling me about this had no idea who the cash player was - he looked at his receipt and it had his drink and some complete strangers $15 food order on it.

I also remember him telling me about the waitress getting really nervous when asked about the bill - whether that was HIS bill or someone else's I'm fuzzy on - but based on how it was described, if the behaviors reported were anything near the truth, then the waitress knew she was busted.

Again, it's hearsay on my part. Just... be extra careful. Check your comps, check your receipts insist on itemization.

I will not give any more details regarding who said this - other than this. I don't think he regularly visited - I believe he said it was his first time.

Sorry, should have clarified. I meant it could have been like a telephone game, where something somewhat irregular happens and someone who isn't use to grinding at that casino might not realize what was happening....yada, yada yada, the story drastically changed down the line.

Apologize again, I misread your OP and thought you meant a guy who KNEW a guy heard that story.

No, IIRC - in this case the guy knew someone that this had happened to, and it had also happened to him (he checked cause the other guy told him about it).

To clarify - I'm sure he said it happened to him. It's him telling me about the other guy that I'm fuzzy on.

IDGAF that you're trolling.
It's just not a safe place to be with any serious amounts of money. I've posted itt before. Among other things I was physically threatened by another player in front of a floorman multiple times after I caught him cheating and they gave me crap when I complained. They won't let me pack heat because it's a "gun free zone". A rule which works great at keeping guns out of places like the monroeville mall.

Yes in PA. Up to property owner most other places and they have to notice I'm carrying (but it's concealed) and then ask me to leave before it's a crime.

Although I'm not the source for this story, I can confirm that this scam is true, and that variants of it have been active for some time at the Rivers.

Something similar happened to me. I checked my comps before playing, and saw that I had plenty. I ordered some food, and then later tried to order a beer. The second waitress told me that my comps were at zero, which was completely impossible. I went to the floor, told my story, and he reinstated the missing comps. He's a good guy, and he shook his head with a kind of disgusted look on his face while looking at the monitor, and told me that this had been an ongoing problem. Edit to add: I remember that he suggested that I had probably just paid for a lot of drinks at the bar, probably cash customers.

This was at least 18 months ago, so this is nothing new. I now avoid using the comps in the poker room.
