Five posts in and every one being a rake nit.

No really. Every one.

Him and Maximus215 are the same person. Very likely the type to get it all in with AA vs KK for stacks preflop , his hand holds up for a decent pot and doesn’t even tip the dealer even $1 because he won the hand preflop. Hate miserable rake nits.

Nobody posted about the tournament so better to be late to the game than to say nothing...

I didn't play the tournament after all but it was not due to a lack of effort. A friend of mine called me and said there was no line and about 100 entrants so I thought it would be fine. I arrived at the poker room at 10:55 (twenty minutes before it started) and there was a huge line snaking through the room and they already sold the 180 available seats (20 nine-handed tables).

I wound up being alternate #70 and sat down at a $1/2 game. I called in while I was in line for the tourney but there wouldn't have been a wait even without doing so.

By the time they were about to call me, I would have had 25 big blinds. Since I was actually up at $1/2 I didn't want to set $240 on fire praying for two quick double ups so I got a refund and kept playing $1/2. I would up racking up with a $370 profit which was better than my friend who wound up min-cashing in 43rd place.

As for the tournament they wound up with 418 registrants, all but 180 of whom were late entries, with a ton of them being happy to get in really late. I heard rumors of an 8-way chop at the end. I cannot confirm or deny it but would assume it had to be a ICM chop with that many people if it did indeed go down that way.

In other news, I really did want to play the tournament and anxiously await them returning.

Was this a one-off tournament, or have they begun running something monthly (or weekly)? How did you friend find it - was it run well, was the structure okay, were table breaks and redraws done smoothly? Any information appreciated as I would love to get back into tournaments.

Also, does anyone know how often/what stakes the PLO runs here, and if you've played it, what are your impressions? Cheers.

It was a "Return to Tournaments" tournament. Ideally it heralds the restart of daily tournaments but I don't know if that has happened yet.

The staff did the best they could with limited space, (likely) limited staffing, and a lot more people than even the most optimistic prognosticator might have expected. They also were good about letting me (and others) get their money back if they were not comfortable getting into the event with so little play.

PLO does run there, but I am not sure of the buy-ins/blinds or the frequency it runs.

I played in the the tournament Wednesday night, we had 175 runners.
We final tabled at 2:00 am and we made a deal with 8 left. We were all close in chips and the blinds were T20K T40K BB ante T40K.

The biggest stack had $525k I was in fifth with T380k so the top 5 were all close.

I took 4th place money with $1501, and finished in 5th place according to the deal that we made.

Not a bad payout for a $130 buy in.

What's the booze situation for tournaments these days? Is the only free beer still the garbage Miller Lite in a cup or are we drinking free Heinekens?

Called to confirm. Sounds like nearly everything is free booze-wise.

You make it sound like Heinekens are a major upgrade over Miller Lites lol.

played yesterday. first time i've been since one visit when the casino first opened as sugarhouse.

only played 1-2 for 3 hours but spotted three instances of possible favors for regulars. twice not enforcing missed blinds on regulars that knew all the dealers, but enforcing it on all others. once i caught a guy shorting the pot in a hand heads up with me in which the dealer swept in his chips super quick while i said "hold on! can you count that please?" and she didn't say anything and just looked at the guy and the guy voluntarily threw in the missing chip.

was this just me coincidentally catching a few things on a short session? or is this a problem in this room?

Posting here since I figure it's most appropriate.

I plan on driving into Philly from NJ to have lunch at Reading Terminal, and then go play a session at Parx. and also get some stuff to take back as well. I just read that apparently I can get discounted parking from the Hilton garage by showing a receipt from RTM. I would probably look to park there as I'm not good at parallel parking (lol) does anyone know if said garage is usually quite full and hard to get a spot in during the week?

Thanks in advance

There are usually meter options around there but if the security and peace of mind (and not wanting to parallel park) come into play, there should be plenty of room in the garage.

If you really want to plan ahead, look at SpotHero. Plug in the date and times you want and you can reserve in advance, often times cheaper (though sometimes with a longer but still tolerable walk), and have that peace of mind as well.

Is there subway service from reading market area to rivers? I'd like to leave my car there and have lunch/dinner without going in and out although maybe Its just better to get validated for $4 each time if possible from that garage.

No

Subway to Girard, than light rail green 15.

It’s probably easier/quicker to drive

Rivers has free parking and it's pretty ample so there's no reason to go to such lengths unless you really don't want to drive in the city.

Honestly if I was planning on playing at Rivers and doing other things I would park there and Uber around for the other things since it's the parking in other places that can get problematic. I doubt you'd get towed. I parked on the lot to catch a concert at a nearby bar once and didn't even go into the casino and didn't have any problems.
