Boltbus, Megabus, those will get you to 30th street station, from there it's like $10 uberpool ride probably

Why would you ever want to use Uber pool? Adding 10-15 minutes to your trip to save $2 seems ridiculous to me.

Also, to the poster who said my previous post had too much strategy, I agree, but, I've never seen a tournament run this way before so to it seemed Sugarhouse specific to me.

I was just kidding. The only tournament I know that is ran this way is at the bike in California

I think if they put a large 250K Guarantee on it with a 270+30 they would probably hit that.

Last year Harrahs ran that one guaranteed overlay tourney with a dozen flight 1s (160 buy in iirc) and played to 10% of the field. They did add 10k and a main event seat to the prize pool but nonetheless they wound up with something like 1500 entries. And that's a place with notoriously horrible tourney fields.

So yeah I could see a big turnout for this.

I was worried about the day 2 buyins having an advantage but looks ok to me. 22 of 98 made it to day 2 as of now. So chip average is slightly above 100k and you'll need to outlast at least half the field to make it to the money if you buyin to day 2 (assuming 10% cash). Here's my source:

Bad beat returns in a smaller form tonight at midnight. Will have to clarify if you can qualify with AK. I think you should but who knows?

Just slightly off

But the reason I was against players being able to buyin for 40BBs on day 2 is exactly what happened, which is a rich, super beast reg winning it by not having to put in the 2 day grind. I don't know how many registered on Day 2, but 8 is probably around the right #.

Hastings played Thursday night and bagged 90k. I'm not sure if he busted Sunday and rebought but that would qualify as a 2 day grind

It was posted on Twitter from a very reliable person that 22 entries happened on day 2

There were 490 entries prior to day 2. I didn't think they would only get 50 people per flight during the week and was obviously wrong

Can anyone comment on how they calculated places paid with those 22 entries on Day 2? Did they treat each entry on Day 2 as 4 entries for cashing purposes??

Paid 54 people with 512 entries.

After a color up break, this SugarRush Challenge field has returned to Level 16 and will now continue to play down to the money. During the break, an official pay scale was finalized and in total, 54 players will make the money in this $100,000 guaranteed event.

That guarantee was easily beaten, with $123,000 up for grabs when it was all said and done, and while everyone in this field will be looking to lock up a $493 min-cash, they’ll also have their sights set on the top of the payout structure. That’s where $30,704 awaits our eventual champion and a complete SugarRush Challenge pay scale is provided below:

$30,704
$17,263
$11,098
$8,817
$6,905
$5,672
$4,501
$3,514
$2,466
10-12. $1,603
13-15. $1,233
16-18. $925
19-27. $678
28-36. $617
37-45. $555
46-54. $493

Can anyone confirm this?

Apparently you do not have to show your hand to win the pot. For example villain bets river, you call and villain mucks, you win pot without showdown.

Also, you only have to show one card at showdown as well. For example board reads A,K,2,4,8 and villain shows KQ and you flip over one card, an Ace, and you are awarded the pot.

Have to show both cards to win the pot at showdown if a bet was called.

If villain mucks, you can muck without showing.

Ok because a dealer told me those were the new rules. Not showing when villain mucks is fine, that makes sense but only showing one card that was a winner was unbelievable to me and the dealer was sure of it. I was going to call the floor but I wasn't in the hand and my session was over so I figured Id address it later.

I have had to show after villain mucked on river this weekend. Rules are very confusing.

I like this room a lot but they are terrible at communication in regards to just about everything.

Pretty sure each the day 2 1100 entries counted as 1 entry toward the prizepool, but can't be certain. An employee had mentioned that with 500 entries, 54 players would be ITM; Don't think they were anywhere near the threshold for increasing the players paid at 512.

Surprising that there were 22 day 2 entries, both due to the price point and not personally observing more than a handful of day 2 entries/reentries. Not sure what to think quite yet, but I'm leaning toward being against it as it pushes the money towards the top players. The day 2 reentries seem are weird to me; Pretty sure almost no tournaments outside of Bellagio WPTs allow registration after day 2 begins. Strange for Hastings to bag for day 2, bust, reenter for 1100, and win the MTT.

Sugarhouse as a tournament venue definitely could use improvement. The players left on the screen was updated much too rarely given the impact it has on play. Additionally, the tournament staff had no idea about hand for hand procedure in terms of whether the clock would be stopped, time removed per hand, etc. I was seated right next to the tournament staff podium and a player had inquired about these details. The staff had no idea; I then said to the player that 2 minutes removed/hand seemed to be standard; Coincidentally, the tournament announced 2 minutes would be taken off/hand right afterwards. Finally, payouts took forever due to an apparent printer error. It'd be nice to ensure that everything is working beforehand.

I'm not hating on Sugarhouse. Previously, I had planned on only playing when I was visiting my parents or for tournaments. Instead, I've been there quite a few times recently as the new room is an excellent place to play cash games. Just hope that the tournaments can reach the same level of quality.

At the very least these day 2 entries should count as 4x for the purposes of paid out prizes if they charge 4x the buyin and give out 4x the chips.

In general, I tend to be against them, as if they happen very close to the field getting in the money, they are essentially stealing equity from day 1 players due to obvious ICM reasons.

I have a series of questions, so forgive me ahead of time please. How's the 1/2 NLHE competition at Sugarhouse on Friday nights? What's the minimum BI you'd recommend, and what would you say is ideal? I have a tight aggressive style, but haven't played live too much. Also, do they ever get a low stakes limit game going?

Thanks!

Ideal is $300. But $200 or 220 is good. You will encounter a few habitual short stackers and a few people who love to straddle.

Pf raises will be $6,$7,$11, and $17. Not much 3betting pre and a ton of limping

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I'm thinking about heading there tonight to play for a bit. Any other tips?

$500 high hand every half hour runs from 6pm-12am so it's gonna be plenty busy...might take a while to find a seat if you show up too late...I suggest getting there close to 5pm if possible...gl

Will do. If I'm bring say $250 to play with, would you recommend buying in for the full $250, $200 and top off, or say $125 and be willing to rebut?

Also, and again I'm sorry for the bombardment of questions, but where is the competition likely weaker for 1/2 NL--Parx or Sugarhouse?
