That's because it really is a nice room. Friendly dealers, clean, nice set up, tv's. Yet on weekdays there are usually only 2 tables running and on weekends usually like 4 running. I really think they should drop that rake from $6 to $5. That might make all the difference in getting people to migrate from Horseshoe Indiana to this room.

I haven't gotten much traction with my proposal for "Rake-Free Wednesdays."

It's clear as day in the tribune article that the struggle is over who will get what portion of the profits. It's been this way for a very long time and in the mean time Indiana is raking in all the money.

LOL at you for thinking that anything that happens in Illinois is Quinn's decision. Quinn doesn't take a crap until Mike Madigan tells him it's OK.

And the delay isn't anti-gambling, it's about squeezing as much money as possible in kickbacks and campaign donations.

LOL yeah dontthink they'll go for that. $3 or $4 rake Wednesdays would be nice though and maybe a possibility to up traffic during the week.

The Rahmfather wants to build a city-owned casino, ideally without oversight from the Illinois Gaming Board.

What could possibly go wrong?

Another swing-and-a-miss, per Cardplayer...
A bill that would have approved casino gambling expansion has failed to make it out of the Illinois House spring session.

“I will never, ever sign a gaming expansion absent comprehensive pension reform,” Gov. Quinn said.

A previous version of the bill included language that would have licensed and regulated online gaming, but it has since been removed from the piece of legislation.

Illinois is the fifth largest state in the country with a population of 12.875 million, according to the latest population estimate conducted in July of 2012. There are only seven casinos in the state with poker rooms, 33 poker tables in total, none of which are in Chicago.

To put those numbers in perspective, Pennsylvania has a similar population of 12.763 million with a drastically larger number of poker rooms totaling over 250 poker tables.

No, I don't work for Harrah's Joliet, as ICUScoobyDoo can attest.

I haven't said a bad thing about the room because I've never had a bad experience there. I'm an eternal optimist, so I give praise with a fire hose and dole out criticism with an eye-dropper.

That's my bias for purposes of evaluating my evaluations.

Bumping this thread just on the off chance anything has changed.

Continues to be so depressing that there's no poker in this place.

what the **** is wrong with our state? Why are casinos so highly regulated? I suppose that our legislators would rather have us spend our hard earned money in IN and WI. If the conglomerate that built Rivers wanted to build a mega structure with 100 poker tables and tons of blackjack, why stop them? And if someone wants to build a casino next door to Rivers, why cant we have that too? I just don't understand and am furious with the lack of progress and competition here.

yup are state just does not get it. If u go to the horseshoe 85% of the cars are from IL. Rivers is a prime location for a big poker room.

If I want to, why can't I just open a poker room in a strip mall? I don't understand why our state doesn't like additional tax revenue.

Any info on the upcoming poker room? Personally, I'm more interested in potential tournaments coming here. Cash games will always be good despite the rake rumors.

Mr poker room manager how about getting us some info. Pm if you need to, thanks HP!

They haven't made any announcements yet from what I understand, though they've opened phase 1 of the expansion already. Poker room (and everything else on the second floor) was supposed to be phase 2, plan was supposed to be first quarter of this year/spring iirc.
