I know, and while I still don't love that policy on the surface I suspect they're still happier with a $300 tip to split than a $2 tip. That said I'm not an expert.

The only time I played there, another player asked the dealer about that. The dealer said that it's a state-wide rule. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but I also agree that rooms keep better dealers when tips aren't pooled.

Looks like it's true, it is a rule by the gaming board: https://ilga.gov/commission/jcar/adm...00J10700R.html

Interesting, it probably has its pros and cons for all tbh.

So they added a $200 hourly high hand bonus today. I think it runs 12PM-12AM.

Highest hand wins, resets every hour and rolls over if no one qualifies. Minimum qualifying hand is aces full of kings.

There were lots of high hands competing on a busy night, saw a royal flush.

And apparently the BBJ hit last night so that reset.

Yeah I played again last night, apparently tournaments not too far away they need more dealers though.

I ran like garbage again last night, not getting it in good and losing but just whiffing a lot, lost AA to T5s in a 4b pot which was nice lol

Rivers is a nice looking poker room that is not that good of a poker room. It is not a poker room you can rely on to play poker because the list is often times too long.

By the time you get settled in on a busy night, they are waiting to break your table because of a lack of dealers.

Another awful thing about Rivers Des Plaines is that they don’t allow you to ban yourself for a fixed period. All Indiana casinos offer this (Horseshoe).

The only thing Rivers offers is the state wide lifetime ban which is a serious decision.

Rivers could offer a casino self ban but they care less than any casino I’ve ever met in regards to responsible gaming.

No. Say it isn't so. The dreaded "breaking a table because of lack of dealers". I played cards for decades before I first experienced that poker room horror, in of all places,
Horseshoe Hammond. Contemporary corporate casino era sucks donkey balls.

lol. You really are looking for literally anything to moan about. The wait lists are super annoying (but the popularity speaks to something), but they don't just break full tables from what I've seen.

I have had my table broken once in 109 hours there and there were only 5 of us there later on (and they immediately seat you, sometimes by making tables temporarily 10 handed)

Looks like the law has been around since at least 1998, assuming I'm reading this right. I'm guessing the idea was to make overt bribery less likely?

Love the room, but this downswing is insane at this point. Now lost the last 6 four figure pots I played, the 2 last night were both standardish but I've been on the losing side of all the big ones for over a month, my graph is grim scenes atm. AK < QQ all in preflop in a straddled pot for $700 each and the lovely one out KK < 33 in a 3b pot and a raised flop on K 3 2 3.

Just found out tonight that the sports book at Rivers Desplaines shows the UFC PPV events! Was great!

This is my first post here in ages and I will try to contribute more going forward. Will have some thoughts on the new Rivers room soon.

Not sure what’s up with them refusing to call 5/10 on a Sunday afternoon. with 9+ ppl on list for multiple hours. Very frustrating.

I think sometimes they don't open a 5/10 when they know most players on the list plan on playing in a bigger game in the private room, but not sure if that was the case today.

Assume not worth allocating a spare dealer to it if they even had one, demand for 2-5 much bigger etc. That or incompetence.

Lots of factors can go into opening a low (Player) volume table .. the biggest fear is that the game will break or play shorthanded 'soon' after opening. Lower potential rake as well as 'hurting' the games that Players will be leaving to go to the new table are part of the decision as well .. probably plenty of list at the lower stakes tho.

This is not an isolated 'event' .. it happens all over the poker world. The best case is for those Players to show up as early as possible and 'united' in their efforts to get the game going. I've run into lists that were 16-18 deep and when the Floor did a survey only got 6 Players to commit or they didn't show up when they were paged. GL

Yeah even at 2-5 they call a new game it almost always won't be the first 9 (or even 9 of the first 15) that start the game.

The Cage/Cashier in the poker room is a separate department from the poker room itself. I know the floor is also frustrated by the speed of the situation there as well but they have no control over it and I get the sense there isn't a whole lot of communication from the cage to poker room supervisors. For example, the cage has closed at least two times for 20-30 minutes when I've been there, and the floor knew nothing about it or why. The message I got was they wished someone at the cage had informed them so they could tell the players. The cashiers in the poker room cage are also all newbies from what I'm told; then when they get experience they tend to move them downstairs.

A month or so ago I was in a 2-5 game and cashed out 2800 and change in red. The guy literally counted down every single stack of red, all 28 of them. It took over 10 minutes and my blood pressure was through the roof. A few days later another regular complained to me about a different cashier who did the same thing. That being said, the red chips are a mixture of brand new and very old and clay chips deteriorate over time making even stacks a little more complicated. Plus last week I heard the cage was off $5 at the end of a shift count. Probably not the end of the world but I'm sure it was frowned upon and there was some paperwork involved.

Poker management is aware of the situation and working with the casino on how to expedite things there. Hopefully it improves soon.

Hopefully not, but the cage could be fearful for their jobs! I know at the bank you only get two unresolved errors in your drawer and your out .. and that's only after you make through being a probie.

Irregardless, this is a casino and they should know the basic patterns in counting multiple trays without having to manipulate each one. GL
