I've been a couple of times midweek evenings and 1-2 has been running each time, 2-5 one of the times.

First day with no 5/T? Looks like enough interest so not sure what’s up with that.

Could be a Dealer thing .. don't know from afar.

I will comment that 5/10, especially if straddles are involved, is difficult to sustain even in an area as large as Chicagoland. I don't think it ran 'daily' at HH, but it ran enough for the Player pool.

I will also add that once the WSOP starts next week that it is good and bad for most poker rooms. Good since a lot of the tough Players will take the time to head out west. Bad, since some games wont run as long for lack of player pool .. so get them when you can since they should be juicy. GL

I heard it did not run because a couple dealers called out sick. List was 27 ppl long. They also had a 10/25 going but I think it was private.

Haven't played here yet did vist and saw the room looks super. I did recognized a lot of people and dealers. But 55 people on the 1/3 list. I did noticed the 500 max which I don't know how I feel about. Seems long term that is not good for low stakes.

Not good being too high I assume?

I haven't tracked this room at all so I don't know how much 2/5 is running. But IMO if there's 'enough' 2/5 going on then a room should run the lowest stake offered with a 100-125bb cap so the Players who can play deeper end up at the higher stake.

It's a balance game .. 1/3 'probably' produces more rake, but yet you don't want the short stacks to feel unwelcome or bullied when a Player can sit down much deeper.

Obv they can adjust as the Player pool changes, but if there's this much demand there's really little reason for them to run a lower stake or inhibit the action that deeper Players want. By allowing a deeper buy-in Players will blow through their pockets quicker, which will allow them to sit another Player quicker. GL

The room is kind of weird about opening 5/10, it’s not specifically about the lack of dealers.

One issue with the 5/10 here is that the $25 straddle is usually on and it’s a match the stack game, so instead of the 5/10 being one jump up from the 2/5, it’s almost like 2 jumps up. You go from a 1k max at 2/5 to needing a ~5k stack at 5/10 just to be an average stack. They need to limit the 5/10 max or create some other in-between game because the gap between the two games is too big atm. It also reduces the player pool that can play at 5/10, which is a limiting factor for why it isn’t run as much.

It was not 10/25. It was a minimum of 25/25 NL.

They regularly have both, especially on Fridays. The 25 25 runs on table 1 in the side room usually.

No high rollers and no regular people want everyone to be inconvenienced so that they can play 10 handed for a short time.

What do you mean?

Imagine being that curmudgeonly that you make an account with this name and start stating the new room lol

I wonder why there is not a single female manager or floor person. They ought to have a couple donkey floor managers deal - dual rate.

Any idea when they'll start running daily tournaments at this venue? I don't play cash games.

I was there last night and it was 10 handed on some tables very very briefly when a game broke and they needed to house a few people for a while. Lasted maybe 10m.

The only time games are 10 handed now is if someone has the highest tier black card or if they break a game and leave players without a home. Once they lose a player, they take the chair out.

How has he done a bad job? You realize that the following casinos are also hiring for Poker dealers currently, right?:

Bellagio
Aria
Venetian
Commerce
The Bike
National Harbor
Bay 101
Thunder Valley

Not to mention every casino/card room in the Chicagoland area is hiring as well. Does that somehow make them all bad managers working there? I'm confused.

He hasn't. Poker players are the WOAT and will always find stuff to moan about. This guy literally made a new account to slate Rivers under. LOL.

The room is packed and runs pretty smoothly with decent action. The previous complaint about games playing too big isn't an invalid one though, 2-5 regularly plays 2-5-15/25 which with a 1k cap means it's short stacked and thus becomes correct to play really tight. Suspect they may change the straddle rule at some point over the next year as player pool gets more busto?

There is still an issue with them giving people too much time to come when they get the text, not sure how the software works but there has to be a better way as open seats do sometimes stay open for a while.

Perhaps text people when they're 10th/5th/3rd on the list or something and then only give them 3-5m rather than 10m when they're called? IDK exactly what's right or how it would work.

I've not been to RCG for a while, don't plan on ever going back. GVC is still adequate.

Right, and generally the table doesn't mind at all if it's the first one (especially at higher stakes). You don't get to the highest tier of casino loyalty card by being nitty.

There was an invite only 25-25 game on Friday night on table 1, every dealer was talking about it as they were making hundreds of dollars in tips per down on it, and it was playing 25-25-50-100 and more. Way too rich for my blood to even try to get an invite but they certainly looked to be having fun.

I wake up this morning at 8:15 AM and there are literally 50 names on the 1-3 list
How the heck does anyone get a seat here?
50 people were awake and on the list before 8:15?
Unreal.
I may never get to play here.

Then again, without a "female manager or floor person" should I even lower myself to support such a place?
(sorry, that comment just makes me laugh so much)
like any casino would turn anyone away at this point they are so desperate for staff

Back to reality. One session I got KK in against AA and won a $1400 pot, only to lose QQ < J9 ai on 9 5 3r, AQhh < 9To ai on Q 8 4 3hh turn, QQ < JJ ai pre, and then a big flip QQ < AK aipf in a pot straddled to $25 for $1k each.

Then similar the next night. Guess the sunrun couldn't last forever.

To be fair, it seems like Mondays/Tuesdays are the worst days in terms of # of tables. It's best to try and get in before 11am/12pm on weekends to avoid a long list. Otherwise, the wait times on other days aren't too outrageous unless you get in after 4/5pm. Unfortunately, I think the wait list problem isn't going away anytime soon. Even if they continue to hire more dealers, 22 tables just isn't enough to support the # of players in the area.

I'm still waiting for the inevitable downswing on my end, but have cooled off a bit as well. Now at $100/hr over 100hrs at Rivers 2/5. I've only been playing 2/5 as my main game for about 6 months now but I'm curious how much of a sample I need before I can get a grasp on a true win rate.

Dealers do not keep their own tips at Rivers.
