I am still in Macau, but I have plan to fly to Singapore next week.

Another news from RWS:
  • If pot is below Sin$ 100, no rake.
    5% if pot > Sin$ 100 cap at Sin$ 50.
  • They are using paper cards.

Also, raking pots before the flop. Some weird rules like having to post both blinds when coming back from sit-out, even if coming back in the big blind. Paper cards are terrible, bent and messed up very quickly. Dealers are very inexperienced, even maybe not as bad as in early Macau days. However, it doesn't help that they are forced to deal from a shoe, a la Venetian Macau. They also burning a card before dealing cards to players. A card that ofc getting mixed up with the muck cards and slows the game even further. Staff should have credit for being very friendly though, greeting you with name even at second visit.

Room is situated in the far end of smoking section of the casino, quite far away from main casino floor. Table service is limited, no food and just serve-your-self fontain drinks from behind poker room.

for a startup poker room and the first in singapore It's pretty damn good. the players are quite loose but as usual you have your sharks merking in the 5/10 nl game. the 25/50NL which runs every now and then is pretty much a coin flip. in other words its a very high volatile game but definitely beatable.

In regards to the rules i don't find it that annoying but it still has room for improvements. the staff is very friendly which makes up for the lack of experience.. i'm very pleased that they don't implement the LINE rule when cutting chips in front of you.that's annoying as hell!!!

Anyways i think this poker room will be a big boom once people know more about it, its not very well advertised. although more fishes that come the sharks will start coming ... hehe

WOuld be very interesting to know what you comparing RWS with if you find it "pretty damn good" in it's present state? You really must have seen quite terrible places.

Atm they have huge problems with their card shufflers, prob because of the worthless paper cards. Shufflers getting jammed several times per hour. Wouldn't be that big deal if they could just manually shuffle instead. Which they can't because of "govt regulations". Rookie dealer doesn't know what to do and floorman is nowhere to be found even if just two tables are running...

And charging 50 sgd in rake is just ridic.

i guess my term should be "acceptable" rather "pretty damn good" any players going this Friday? I'd like to meet some locals that go there often to discuss poker.

Agree on that, after all it's nice to have a legal place to play poker here. Just hope that RWS listens to the player community and addresses the shortcomings. Then they should have a good shot of being a decent room for the all the locals that now are going to Macau to play.

50sgd? Does that convert to 38 US dollars? if so that's crazy. I was planning of stopping by and checking the room out too.

Yeah, your conversion is correct. And they rake even preflop. No comps. Refuse to lower rake for short handed games, even heads up games get full rake.

Def need to rethink their biz model and at least get down to Macau levels of rake.

Any updates on this game?
Are the dealers better and more experienced?
Is it running smoother?

I heard that there weren't many tables running, generally speaking of course.

Any news on this?

Well im new to this forum but i spent a few days last month in Singapore. I used to deal Poker in an aust Casino so i was curious to see how the room was run. They have plastic cards from when i was there, but they're still pretty slow, they could do with some chipping skills, not too bad though. The rake is pretty shocking, maybe when the other casino opens a room competition will drive it down.

I was there for three nights and there's a good number of regulars playing, they're always easy to spot amongst the fish, they're pretty solid players. I went in after midnight and there were around 3-4 tables active. When they get a tourney licence and advertise that place it should really take off

5/10nl runs from around noon til early morning weekdays and round the clock on weekends. Occasionally higher games, 10/20, 25/50 or 100/200.

i played the 5/10 game yesterday. the games were pretty good (lol asia) but 5% $50 capped rake at 5-10 is really ridiculous. I think over half the table smokes which is quite annoying. Felt like i lost two years of my life playing there for a day from second hand smoke. the dealers and floor are new/bad, which is to be expected. I hope they lower the rake and ban smoking. pretty sure the dealers and floor will improve over time.

+1 on friendly staff.

also if any 2p2er wanna grab a drink with me, shoot me a pm with your phone number!

5/10 is 300-1500. I think 10-20 is just double the amount, not 100% sure. I don't think they spread 2/5 but again i'm not sure.

Do you know what are the lowest stakes in the casino?

Is the the only poker room in Singapore?

this is the only poker room in .SG
lower stakes are 5/10 SGD. (that's 3/6€)
minimum buyin is 300 SGD / maximum 1500 SGD (that's 1,000 € roughly)
everyone buyin at the max!

I found the game to be boring and very tight ... but maybe it was a bad week!

I'll be here for the first time next month for a few days, and I have a few questions. (I've never played at an asian casino before -- just in the US + Australia + a few in Europe.)

- How long should I expect to wait for a 5/10 NLHE seat on a Thurs or Sun during the day? During the evening? How many tables can I expect to be running at those times?

- Is it still the case that all of the games here are NLHE (5/10 or higher)? Any others?

- Any trouble exchanging to/from $USD at the casino? Are the rates notably different from a bank?

- Should I expect any trouble understanding what's going on at the table, given that I speak only English?

- Any dress code? Shorts/t-shirt okay?

- Is there any safe mass-transit way to get there? (I'll be at a hotel about 20 min away by car. So maybe just a taxi?)

- Do I understand correctly that as a short-term visitor (sans visa) I can enter for free as long as I have my passport?

Anything else I should know, apart for the stupidly high rake?

Thanks in advance.

Poker room is located in the far end of the smoking section of the casino, might be an issue if you're sensitive to cig smoke. Dealers are still quite slow, floor men inconsistent in rulings etc, so come prepared w a good patience. Otherwise the place is not too bad, most players are bad but friendly regs. Don't waste your whole stay here playing poker, value isn't that great after rake. Singapore is a great place, so better spend some time checking out the island.

Will be making a trip to Singapore on Jan 5.

Have a few questions hoping some can help me out with.
Is poker only available at Resorts World Sentosa? I will be staying at Sands Marina, how much is Taxi from Sands to RWS?
I have no Sin dollars, only have HK (Hong Kong) dollars on me, should be fairly easy to exchange correct? Also have an ATM card, I assume it shouldn't be too hard withdrawing from my bank card I reckon.

From the info on the thread, most are buying in for 150bbs usually? Is there a good or bad time to go? Thank you
