Sorry, I still don't get why this means the game is harmed by one or both of the two talking while heads-up. A player facing a tough call could just as easily waste three minutes staring at his chips before someone calls clock. Why is that better than the same player asking a series of (usually boneheaded but occasionally inspired) questions to try to elicit a response?

Sorry to keep hammering on this. The bottom line is that we're all really psyched to play in what is shaping up to be a good if sometimes oddly quiet poker room.

You post is confusing. I agree talking heads up should be allowed but goading people to call or fold is a rules infraction.

Not sure what this has to do with tanking or cursing but feel free to explain.

Dropping $2 per hand for a BBJ is going to keep a lot of players away. $1 is ok but that extra $1 you are taking will both 1) upset players when they see the dealer doind this every time they win a pot and 2) eat into their immediate short term profit. When a player loses 6 or 7 sessions in a row they are less likely to return (ex. "I'm not coming back here. I never win here!) You cant bleed players in an effort to boast a large BBJ. This is counterproductive for your business and unfair to players who are actually trying to make $$.

Had some dealer issues that caused it to break quickly, rebuilding the 5/10 and 10/25 lists...

The room and everything is really nice btw.

As in short dealers? Nice strong start. Why 6/12 HE? I would start 4/8 with full kill.

Compared to Borgata, Resorts has higher rake, lower hourly comps, no monthly additional bonus comps, and unknown hotel room comps.

Additionally, if one doesn't like the games at Borgata one can go to 3-4 other casinos - or enjoy the beach. Not sure what is around Resorts...

Basically, I'm surprised that Resorts poker doesn't seem to be doing anything to draw players and the terms are inferior to Borgata. Resorts needs to start some good promos and incentives and match card status to get things rolling.

Seems we mean different things by "goading." To me, "goading" is just talking someone into a fold or call in ways typically allowed at poker tables.

You're using the same word to mean some conventionally outlawed behavior. Though I've never heard "goading" used that way, I trust you and others have.

My point remains: opponents should be allowed to talk heads-up!

If we're NOT allowed, I'd at least like Davey or someone else to explain why that rule makes sense.

Glad to hear so many games are spread on a Monday.

Comped or at least discounted rooms would go a long way. You have to give players a reason to want to travel to your poker room from NYC. Players hate to come for a couple of days and have to leave after playing to drive to a hotel, which they have to pay for, and then drive back again for the next session. Parx is a 1hr drive CLOSER to NY than the Borgata but Borgata gets the lions share of the NY players...because they comp rooms..

The difference is Borgata has over 2,000 rooms and RWC has about 300 so I'm not expecting any huge discounts on rooms.

Borgata has a considerable amount more traffic to their table games as well. They have to comp all those people too. So that fact that they have more rooms is relative to amount they have to comp to begin with.

Borgata has a reputation for taking care of their poker players. As a result, people drive 3 hours from Long Island and Queens to go there. Resorts World is a closer commute and if the players got comped rooms (or at least a nice discount) Resorts will steal some of Borgatas poker buisness.

They dont have to comp all players who put hours in. Basically for people who live 1 1/2 hours plus away RW should make an effort to comp these people rooms. The people who live within an hour will come anyway because they can commute home..(basically they have to make an effort to get some of the $$ from NYC into their room)

Also players who play higher should get more perks. You want to have at least a 5-10 game going on the weekends and a 5-5 PLO going often to make it a legit room. You need to attract players who will play in those games and these players want a room.

I agree. It's so weird that you can't talk heads up lol. I wonder if it'll be enforced.

Goading is pretty clear cut. I agree you should be able to talk to get info heads up but pressuring someone to call or fold is illegal. Most rooms that ban any talk do so probably to take the pressure off floor.

Good to see some interest in mixed games today. If 5/10 O8 goes steady I will come and play.

So just out of curiosity: what counts to you as an example of justifiably outlawed "pressuring someone to call or fold"?

To me, threatening someone with a beatdown if they call should be outlawed (obviously). Strong personal insults, cursing etc are also outlawed for good reason. But I don't see a problem with any lighter form of verbal "pressure." I'd like to hear if there's something I'm not thinking of.

it's a bright line rule vs something that is subjective. much easier to enforce.
