Just called reservations to inquirer about March 8th & 9th. It is $299.00 for the 8th and $499.00 for the 9th not including resort fees and tax. I hope they offer some sort of rate for poker.

It's just gonna come down to supply and demand. I think they're just feeling things out, and will likely come down as you get closer to the date. Those are like new years eve rates that will only steer people to AC or CT.

There are hotels within a 5 to 10 minute drive from the casino that are under $100/night. check hotels.com.

Opening 2nd week of February! Excellent news! All this waiting in NYS has finally paid off.

Davey - looking forward to the information you and RWC have been graciously providing here. I think that the demand from the poker community is going to exceed expectations - so customers will be elbowing each other for a seat ; )

Regarding tournaments...its too bad that we'll have to wait until the 4th quarter for a signature series. Will it be affiliated with WSOP? WPT? Can RWC possibly match or exceed the two best tournament destinations that NYS players frequent (Borgata and Foxwoods)?

When will the daily tournament details be released?

Thanks.

I got the same rate quote. Up until 3 years ago my family owned a house in Monticello. I'm not sure if you guys have ever been there but it's really a s-hole. You wouldn't want to stay anywhere other than the casino hotel. That whole region is depressed. I can't see anything other than 1-2 getting off there. Maybe an occasional 2-5 on the weekends. People are not going to trade the action in Foxwoods or borgata for Monticello. I hope I'm wrong but with those hotel rates so high, it'll kill all the action.

I totally disagree. The 2/5 nl games will be everyday, with 5/10nl at least on the weekends. I personally know many players from that region that are highly anticipating the opening. Now...whether NYC clientele come in..that I don't know.

Hey Davey,

I was wondering if there will be a texting system to our cell phones? Would be great to be able to enjoy the casino while waiting for ones name to be called, as opposed to having to mill about/ sit outside the room waiting to be called.

Still looking at March 1st for opening date?

Most of the players are coming from outside of the Monticello area. The Sands is out in the middle of nowhere in the Lehigh Valley mountains of PA and it has multiple 2/5 games every day of the week. A lot of those players who I know personally will have a shorter drive to Resorts World. Not to mention it's the same distance from NYC as the Sands, so it will give all the NY players more of a choice.

The hotel rates are sure to come down, the Sands has about the same number of rooms and on a Saturday night in July the most they go for is about 379/night. They are also blocking rooms for high rollers who they'r hoping to attract. The prices are going to balance out after the hotel is opened.

We will have call-ins for some games a few weeks after we start. 1/2nl will not be a call in game. 2/2 and 5/5 PLO will have it. List of games and number to call will be in fact sheet before opening

Love the enthusiasm ! We are a bit too early in the process to negotiate those names. Daily tournament info will be released before or around Easter.

Texting shouldn't be a problem

I don't believe the hotel will have 100% of the rooms open for the table games opening on Feb 8th. Just a variable for the hotel argument. All I know for now

This would explain why the starting rates are so high.

I dont think he is referring to texting at the table, but a program that will send an auto-text when your name is on the list for registration so you have the freedom to go about the Casino while you wait

Are there any plans for a Bad Beat Jackpot as well as high hand?

The Lehigh Valley has a population over 800,000. Hardly the middle of nowhere.

I do agree though that 2/5 will likely run every day.

There has been for years to Monticello. Not sure about directly to the casino. I imagine it'll be like every other casino where u can get picked up at the corner stores in the 5 Burroughs

Shortline Coach USA departs regularly to Monticello bus terminal which is a 10min drive to the casino, they would probably be starting regular day trips that go right to the casino as well as other carriers.

There's a bus entrance in the bottom left hand corner of this diagram

Any interest in non-hold em games? I personally know dozens of mixed games players living in this area who would be interested in 10/20 and higher.

CBS2 News last night, including drone footage inside the casino

I like that the news cast also mentioned "The poker room is still under construction" Great advertising for us! Thanks Channel 2 news for the plug!

Place looks sharp! I plan to go a week or so after it opens and check it out (I know poker will not be ready yet). Cavernous event center, perfect for large tournaments - I hope they have enough portable poker tables for that. Lets face it - the place gets on the map by holding marquis tournaments where the buy ins exceed the guarantees. Those tournaments will be packed - I hope the staff is ready to execute. Even little Rivers in Schenectady got 733 entrants for their $100K guarantee Capital Region Classic https://riverscasinoandresort.com/ca...om/poker-blog/ boosting the prize pool to $181K.
