For sure, although I'm technically not the game organizer though I am in touch with them via phone. The game won't be private or anything, just trying to not start at 10pm-12am to keep the game alive, regular & more likely to attract new players. Calling into the room & adding yourself to the list should suffice as well but have no problems contacting the game organizer if anyone wants to reach out. I won't be attending this coming weekend, had a crazy swingy & tilting session this past weekend, not to mention the game almost died (most players were going to break until dealer change) due to a dealer being an ass.
Whenever the game gets off we always agree to a $5 bring in (i.e. no limping) or coming in for $10 pot in an effort to make math easier on dealer/players & to speed up game flow. "Technically" this is not allowed by NY gaming regulations (my lord are they awful). There is this one particular dealer who always comes in for his down & refuses to allow us to open to $10, capping it at $8 whilst also force allowing limping when we were looking to avoid it. This changes the game immensely in making nittier/causing more 4-8 way hands, makes it more difficult for the dealer/players to keep track of pot, etc. Biggest of all IMO, it makes the game less appetizing to new players who might be interested in sitting. After this dealer sits, every player begins to complain respectfully. He then goes on in a whiney voice that because of the NY gaming regulations "
he's not putting his gaming license in jeopardy for $2 when people only tip $1 a hand" & continues to give a rotten attitude/tone to the players. A hand or two later on the flop I then ask how much is in a pot & a player answers number. This dealer jumps down the guys throat saying he's wrong, pointing out his rule changes, and that it is not his job to run the game. Myself & the player sort of clap back with a bit of attitude & the majority of the rest of the table jump in on the dealer for a mix of the rule changes, his attitude, & how he's speaking to the player who answered how much was in the pot. At this point he finally calls floor over & the first thing he says is "
I'm not dealing PLO anymore, I don't get paid enough to deal with this crap" (or something along those lines) right in front of the table. We (the table) mostly reiterate to the floor that while the rule changes are annoying & he's the ONLY dealer that makes them, our largest gripe was how he spoke to & treated the player(s). He ended up ending his shift early or being told to leave by the floor. IMO this type of behavior from a dealer is absolutely ridiculous. One of my biggest pet peeves in live poker is dealer abuse FROM players but rarely have I ever been in a situation where that was reversed & the dealer was "abusing" the players. You (the dealer) work in a customer service position & as someone who did so for most of their childhood, this is the #1 way you get tipped less & disliked. Am I crazy for thinking this way? What are other folks takes? Funny part is after he left a guy stacked me for ~200bb (terrible tilt call by me w/ trips vs obv boat) & tipped the dealer $30. I go: "
make sure you let dealer X know about your shitty tip"
Anyhow, drama aside, RW might not have too many game types/stakes running, the action in the room has been pretty good on weekends for the past few months. Hoping that these new promos & tourneys in the next few months will increase traffic a bit as well.
