OP:

Set to open Jan 1, 2017 with over 350 luxury rooms, an 18 hole golf course, 2100+ slots, 61 or 102 (depending on the source) table games, and a poker room plus more. Set to be on par with a 5star 5diamond venue, already rated at 4star 4diamond.

Part of a 3 casino build in upstate New York, Montreign is supposedly 90 mins from NYC - my gps says 2hr 58min.

Does anyone have any information on the poker room size, variety, quality?

Looking at their build site progress camera on their website I have no idea how they expect to be open on schedule.

As an avid visitor of Atlantic City, NJ I am honestly looking to make this my go to destination for live poker over the Borgata and Harrahs.

I believe they can steal a lot of business from AC's day and weekend trippers as long as they do it right.

If anyone has more in depth information please share it here and let's make this the dedicated thread for this venue as the opening date nears!

March 1, 2018 is the opening date. It will probably not open late, as part of the license deal is a very large fine. ( tens of millions). The belief is that it will open anywhere from January 1, 2018 to March 1, 2018. There will be 102 table games. ( 61 was the previous plan, but it was upgraded). This has oddly not been updated on their main Montreign site, but it is in the new floor plans.

As far as the poker room...the initial plan was actually not to have one. Thankfully, they changed their minds on this and there will be one. It will be a 14-16 table poker room. Small...but not awful. ( Hopefully with room for an upgrade in size)

The casino will be in Ellenville, NY. That is 94 miles, and 1 hour and 50 minutes from NYC. This will be quite the casino. It is a 1.3 billion dollar project, and will rival the best casinos on the east coast.

We still got a ways to go... but yes, let's make this the thread for the Montreign Poker room

Isn't Momtreign in Kiamesha Lake? The Nevele is in Ellenville but there is no casino there.

The progress appears further along than expected. Hopefully they will open a couple months before the anticipated March 1, 2018 date. We will see..

The Casino is actually in Thompson, NY approximately 90 miles from NYC. About a month ago the opening date was moved up to sometime in February 2018 rather than the original opening on Easter weekend 2018. I know this because I'm currently working there in the construction trade. I live in Suffern, NY myself and takes me exactly an hour to get there (with no traffic).

The poker room is supposed to be located on the mezzanine level. Doesn't look very big. If it is only going to be 16 tables then it is about as big as Rivers Schenectady. Not enough room for tournaments. Hopefully they will have decent weekend tourneys and run them in the event space.

Interesting stuff here. Being from fairfield county, CT this is about the same distance for me than Mohegan Sun. If some 2/5 & 5/10 games could fire up here it could be a solid option! I hope it finishes soon!

This casino is projecting it will be the largest in the state of New York and margins will be "in line with that of Sands Bethlehem after adjusting Sands Bethlehem's EBITDA for NY Tax rates".

What's good about the poker room is although it's only going to be about 16 tables, it's located on the mezzanine level right next to the high stakes VIP room (for the possibility of high rollers to come in and play), with a nearby outside terrace for all the chain smokers (although I don't know what their smoking policy is).

I'm excited for March to come around since this will be the closest poker room to where I live. It's also going to feature an all suites hotel.
  • "A 90,000 square foot casino floor featuring 2,150 slot machines, 102 table games and a 14 – 16 table poker room (inclusive of the poker room and VIP and high-limit areas)
  • A VIP floor containing 6 private VIP gaming salons, a private gaming cage, and butler service;
  • 27,000 square feet of multi-purpose meeting and entertainment space with seating capacity for 1,300 people and a mezzanine level that includes the 14 -16 table poker room, access to outdoor terraces and approximately 7,000 square feet of meeting room space"

It doesn't look like the VIP area is connected to the area where the poker room is. I think the large tan area in the center of Mezzanine plan is open to the main floor.

I ran into someone over Thanksgiving weekend who has two relatives who will be working in the casino. One as a floor supervisor and one as a table games dealer. He told me they are going to be reporting to work on January 15th, and they will be opening in February!

This would mean they are running ahead of schedule We're only like 9 weeks away if they are opening in February.

Job listings just went up for dealers and dual rates. I'm currently trying to find out if tips are pooled or if we keep them. If we keep our own I'm planning on applying. It seems like a decent place to live if you can handle cold winters.
