Room is run horribly. Inexperienced, lackadaisical, and incompetent dealers (not all). The main floor guy who formerly worked at Sands hasnt a clue. Its like he goes out of his way to make the wrong decisions and piss off customers.

3 Things:

1. I arrive there, ask to get on the 2/5nl list. Im #12 on the list. There is currently (1) 2/5NL going and maybe 5 or 6 1/2NL games. So, I ask are you going to be calling names to start a new 2/5NL? He replies “no”, I ask, “Oh, are you short on dealers”? He says “no, I just dont want to break up a bunch of 1/2nl tables or make them short”. I say, “you will still have the same amount of tables, you may lose one table, but you will gain a new 2/5 table”. “The broken 1/2nl players can fill in seats into the other 1/2 tables.” He apparently didnt understand this concept. Eventually, he must have realized he should be calling a 2/5 game and did so 5 minutes later.

2. The main 2/5nl game eventually breaks after I put in a 5 1/2 hr session. Its just me and this lady remaining, who I wanted to play 5/10nl heads up with (as I felt I had an edge on her). She agreed, and the dealer yells over to the floor to change the game to 5/10 and do a time rake vs. the attrosious 3+0 pot rake. The lady and myself both take a bathroom break before we start. I come back, and the lady picked up her chips and was cashing out at the cage. I ask, the floor what happened?

He said, Im sorrry I dont have the staff to do a heads up table. Meanwhile, he clearly does, there is only 1 other table going on a 1/2nl and the dealer that was just dealing the broken 2/5nl. It most likely was the dealer wanted to go home, or the floor didnt want to justify keeping a dealer there to a heads up time rske game, at $8 per half. Which is understandable from a profitability standpoint for the casino, but not in good taste to a customer service and player retention standpoint. Especially 2 players who just played 3+ hours short handed paying a 3+2 rake every pot.

3. On top of that, they already let the lady sit in the only remaining 1/2nl seat without asking if I was still playing. I said to the floor: “what we are not drawing cards for seats?” He replied, well you werent here and she requested the seat”. I obviously was still in the bathroom when she requested the seat however, I was under the impression we were about to play 5/10.

(Just Horrible Management)!

i hate pot rake and short handed is why.
i've played a few times in this casino and have left games i otherwise would have stayed in because you're just getting raped on rake.

with that said there really is no incentive for them to keep a dealer there so you can play heads up unless you're both pretty good tippers especially if the dealer wants to go home. in many cases the reason to keep a game running super short at reduced rake is in the hopes the game fills up. in many cases it might. a 5/10 nl game at RWC with one other table in the entire place running isn't one of those cases.

Reading your post I get the impression that you are the type to second guess the floor and usually with a condescending attitude. He had a point I wouldn't want to hurt any of the 1/2 games and I would have probably wanted more of a list to start a new 2/5 game AND made it must move. I can't believe the original game broke before yours. That is lame. The existing game should always be protected. Besides they were playing before you arrived.

As for the bathroom thing not sure we are getting all the info but it seems to me if she really wanted to play 5/10 HU she wouldn't have sat at 1/2 and further makes me believe your approach and behavior could use an evaluation.

I have been to this room and though it's a room I wouldn't rank up there with the top card rooms. They are far from what you have characterized them to be.

Have a little more patience and a little more faith in the floor man.

I'm in Manhattan and RWC is about the same as AC or Parx.

I was really curious to try this poker room but they have done absolutely nothing to entice players. Not even one juicy promo to get people to make this drive.

On every metric, the other places win. (rake, comps, rooms, number of tables, local amenities)

I will eventually check it out but the place just smells of disappointment.

they did nothing to entice pit/slots players either

geniuses running the casino figured people would just start giving money away

they were drawing dead from the beginning

I’ve been saying that since the day they opened. I’ll probably be saying it right up until the day they close.

So you've never been there but your giving it a bad review...

There are promos running every day you should install and review Bravo to see them.

It seems like most of the negative reviews are from people who have either never been there or they were only there once but they couldn't get a heads up game set up for them at the snap of a finger.

News Flash: This room isn't the Borgata so don't expect free rooms or high hourly comps. The room is comfortable and Dave is doing his best with the hand he's been dealt. My complaint is the dim lighting, but that's on me (I'm legally blind and the hard scleral lenses I have to wear dont fully correct my vision which is why I always sit in the 1 or 9 seat) otherwise I would play here a lot more than I do. The games are extremely soft so a good player shouldn't be concerned about these little things.

They did fix the lighting about a month ago and it is much better. When the new hotel is done which should be January I was told $79 a night. That is not free like AC but all the NY and PA rooms I go to do not give free rooms for poker. I was told they will be moving the room downstairs they just don't know when. I am a little disappointed my favorite part of the room is the easy access from garage and not having to deal with the main floor.

Just got word that they are moving the Poker room downstairs next month and the Poker area itself will not have a cage. Why ruin the one good thing about this poorly run operation?

There is a $1000 on us promo for new customers. Fine print:

new members will receive free slot play at a rate of $10 for every twenty-five (25) rewards points earned on the Promotional Day up to $1,000 in Free Slot Play.

Has anyone done this? I'm guessing that the best way to do this is video poker. How much coin-in does it take to earn 1 reward point on video poker? I wonder if this promo has substantial +EV for players.

Also, they say they match status cards but there is little additional info on the website. What would Borgata Platinum card get me here?

Never knew about the promo when I signed up but I was there with my father in law the other day and it took him about 5 hours of slot play to earn 250 points. I played VP but earned something abysmal like 5 reward points after an hour of $.25c max JORB. Getting the $100 slot play was nice for him as he was not betting the max and was even after the 5 hours then turned the $100 slot play into $350.

They do tier match. They tier matched my Total Rewards platinum card to their Gold level and my friend got his Hard Rock AC Elite Wild Card matched to the same Gold Level. It gave us $25 match play, $35 food comp and they waived our resort fee for the hotel so I was happy about that.

They matched our whole group (4 of us) on Saturday. They didn't even scan or look at the card they were matching. Just instantly gave all of us the RW Gold Card. I already had a RW card from a few months back too so it's not just for new sign ups either.

I asked the floor and front desk people and they knew nothing about this happening.

If they do move it downstairs the cashier cage would be 200 feet away from where the poker area would likely be situated. That's not that that bad.

Has anyone played one of the larger buy-in tournaments (for example the $300+$100 bounty)? If so, how well was it run, and what’s was the field like?

I am considering playing tomorrow’s bounty tournament. If anyone played it the last time it ran, I’d also appreciate knowing the number of players.

If anyone is interested, for future reference, the bounty tournament ($300+$100) got 69 entries.

How many hours does one have to play weekly/monthly to get room offers? And what room offers have people been receiving? Many thanks for any feedback.

Bumping this in the hopes that someone may have useful information. Or, if you know who I could reach out to in the poker room, please let me know.

I play there 3 to 4 days a week 1/2, 2/5 and BJ once a week or so. The only offer I have gotten is $69.00 on a weekday and I think that is standard poker rate.

Thanks very much for this info, appreciate it. If you’re playing that frequently and that’s the rate they give you, sounds like they really aren’t doing much to encourage players to play there.
