Ah, makes sense. Jimmy does a hell of a job and is widely respected. Gotta give props to The Peppermill.

Hey,

I am going to Reno for my bachelor party and I just want some advice on where the best places to play poker are. Also any places that have fun party atmosphere, and dare I ask about the best strip club?

I don't know about Silver Legacay but Eldo spreads 1/2 NL pretty much. Two tables generally during the week nights. Always a few regs, if you're lucky you'll get a spewer. Kinda tight and nitty has been my experience with the Eldo, but not a bad choice if you're downtown.

Is peppermill not up there for the nicest room you've ever played in?!

Absolutely the best room on Reno. Always something going on there and the food / drink setup is great

I've said this before. I've played pretty much everywhere (AC, Vegas, CA, PA, Tunica, Reno etc) and Peppermill's poker room is still in my top 3 poker rooms in terms of comfort, niceness, and amenities.

As a soda addict and confirmed fat ass I'm a big fan of the soda fountain/soup station.

What are the other two on your list? Very curious

Played at Harrahs South Lake Tahoe this week. I think it was Tue night, a guy
missed his huge draw after calling off the rest of his stack (~$80). He proceeded
to rip his cards in half and throw them into the muck.

The funny thing is, the staff didn't do anything to him other than to gently ask him
to not do it again. I think it's because everyone there knew he was the big donkey
in the room, and we all desperately wanted him to stay.

He proceeded to lose a couple more buy-ins before leaving in a huff.

It's by no means a rigid list, and I'm aware a lot of it is open to opinion/personal preference but if I had to rank the ones I've been to, I'd say these are my favorite three (ignoring game selection options, with that included peppermill obviously falls of the list, talking strictly comfort):

1. borgata (high limit)
2. Wynn (old room, haven't been to new yet)
3. Peppermill

Those are the 3 nicest rooms I have been to also, and I have played in a lot. But I would put the order as Peppermill, Borgata, Wynn. Also haven't been to the new Wynn though.

Where is the biggest cash game when the WPT deepstack runs? Will it be in the Peppermill or Atlantis?

How would you describe the scent of the Silver Legacy? I would say it's a burning mint. How about the El Do?

Not recommended. shopworn is the best word I can come up with. Much nicer digs DT at Silver Leg, Eldo. Better rooms at Pepp and Atlantis.
Have not stayed anywhere else.

Shopworn I can live with. I'm more concerned with if it's dirty, or stuff is broken.

Those other places may be nicer but I can get a really good price on Harrah's.

Rooms were ok when I was there a couple years ago. Shopworn is a good description but at least when I was there, for a cheap or free room it was fine....not dirty but nothing special by any stretch...I'd give it another shot if the price was right.

Agree P and C.....if the price is right, it works. I've stayed at Harrahs for a week when working in nearby Dayton. (Like you, most of it was comped)
For food....am thinking only thing open 24/7 is Hash house. I'm a 500am guy when working, so I used ElDo for my early food needs, then used again for the best buffet in town.
It's too bad that Harrahs killed their poker room off slowly, and it's been gone now almost two years.

You drove from downtown Harrah's to Dayton! Holy crap that's a hike in my book.

I actually stay in the Best western airport when I'm in Reno for work (a week at at time 4-5 times per year). For me it's just better to not have to weave through the drunks.

I'm here now and played Atlantis last night. Much better than the nit fest I see at GSR. It's deepstacks time and the only indication was the signs up. they only had two 1/2 games and one limit. (may have been a small mixed game too).

Peppermill had some games going. One thing about Atlantis is they are running 4/hr comps now (not sure if it's a limited thing) and the buffet there is fabulous.

Harrah's is fine...rooms are small and clean. East Tower has been remodeled more recently. You might get a tube TV in the west tower lol. The parking can be a little dicey if there's a ball game going on as the minor league field is about two blocks away. The Diamond Lounge closes early, like 8p, and the food in the lounge is awful.

You can get a bomber of Arrogant Bastard at Hash House for $6.99

Thanks for the Harrah's Reno feedback, folks. I'm not worried about food - I'm a McDonald's drive-thru type.

Intervention needed desperately

My favorite two rooms in the Western States were definitely the Peppermill and the Wynn..On the other side of the coin, I have around 30 poker rooms tied for last.
