I'm starting a thread on Prime Social - www.primesocialtx.com

It is the biggest poker room in the state and has the biggest games. There are 23 tables and they just announced in May a tournament in partnership with Poker Atlas with a $150,000 guarantee.

Poker is going strong in Texas and we are now running on 3 years with these card rooms open in the state. Discuss!

PS - I have no affiliation with the room but play there often so can answer any questions about the games.

I’ve been going here for a few months playing there smallest game $1/$3 NL hold em. Typical buy-ins is $500 or more and there’s often a $6 UTG straddle. I’d argue this $1/$3 game plays bigger than say the $2/$5 at the Bellagio.

I’m a nitty rec player that plays maybe once a week and have only been playing a few times a year prior to Houston legal poker. I’m a break even to slightly losing player over the past few years but have been beating this game for over $30/hr after subtracting rake over a small sample size and on the good side of variance.

Consistently the softest $1/$3 or $1/$2 games I’ve seen in years. Even at this stake there’s always seems to be at least one out of Townes that’s moved to Houston specifically to play this game. Other than that mostly clueless gambling type locals.

The only thing that concerns is I’m not sure if it can sustain itself in the long run. I feel with the rake being what it is and the size of the game the fish are bound to go broke in the next year. Unless there able to bring rake down I see the number of these games going down in the next year or so and getting more difficult. I guess this happens in every market where all of a sudden new big rooms open, say MGM National Harbor.

These are just my opinions and I’m by no means an expert in these matters. I’d love to be proven wrong by more knowledgeable folks.

And I'm closing a thread on Prime Social. I see from your posting history that you're already well aware that this isn't allowed in our forum. Testing the boundaries now that Rapini is gone are ya?
