Now that PI officially has poker, I've changed the title of the thread, cleaned out the low-/no-content chat-type posting from the thread, and moved it to the Poker Venues subforum as requested by some of the users in this thread. Please PM me if you have any questions and enjoy!

How are the dealers?

I was told last night that all of the dealers are table games dealers and were trained for dealing poker. All are pretty slow and right now flipped or exposed cards are the norm and not the exception. New room so that is not totally unexpected

Does the room have auto shufflers?

Wasn't that crowded this afternoon. I saw Money800 playing. I'm sure it will be crowded tonight for the tourney.

Won my seat in the Moneymaker Qualifier on Friday. Was sitting next to him on Saturday.
Nice guy, who took pictures with anyone who asked. He also sat in 1/3 and 2/5 cash games after he was knocked out of the tournament.

Played Monday afternoon around 4pm. 3 tables going and got a seat right away. Restrooms right there, waitress was always around, dealers were average to below average as expected. I was surprised at how many new players were at my table as Pittsburgh has had poker for a while now. You may want to stay away on the weekend if you have to drive any good distance as there may be a major wait getting a table with only 9 tables. You can call ahead and get you name on the list. Dealers split tips for those of you that care.

Random house rules that i'm remembering off the top of my head:

- If you miss the big blind you can't post until the button passes.
- Reduced rake (10% $3 max) is available on request if there are 5 or less active players. This has changed frequently. It was originally 4 players, then it was 5 but it had to be 5 max with chips on the table, then after some argument it became 5 players dealt into the hand.
- No cell phones at the table. Enforcement varies from dealer to dealer. If you want to text someone, you can stand up and text. Yes thats correct...standing at your seat and texting is fine, sitting down is not. This rule is technically supposed to disallow listening to music on your smart phone...i've never seen anyone actually enforce it that strictly.
- Out of turn bets are binding UNLESS action changes, regardless of intent. We had this come up when a fish at our table blind bet $30 from the button preflop. The ruling was that if anyone raised before him, he could pull back his $30. I highly doubt this ruling will be enforced the same way in the future.

I'm sure i'll remember more to post later.

Some more:

-No double straddles
-30 mins away from the table until they fill your seat, unless they don't have a waiting list.
-Only time a hand is dead preflop, due to the dealer, is if the very first card dealt is flipped, otherwise they just kill the exposed card.
-Cannot have booze at the table after a certain time (I think 2 or 3am), even if you bought it earlier. They ask that everyone dispose of their alcoholic beverages.
-As to the cell phone rule, I typically just push my seat back from the table and use that time to check my phone and none of the dealers have ever said anything about it to me.

Was there last Friday night. All tables full at 9:30 pm, but waitlist was only 5-6 people deep and was sitting and playing within 10 minutes.

Nice room - lots of room, restrooms nearby. My initial seat was under what felt like a hot-lamp directed from the ceiling across the table - was terrible. Changed to seat on opposite side of table and it was much better. They could do better with the lighting.

For an hour 15 away, I was happy and I can see heading out once a month until Cleveland opens.

One nit - they have all new tables but the colors they chose were terrible. Would have been a good opportunity make the tables stand out - dark blue, dark red, whatever. Instead they chose some washed out flesh-color that looked dated. Could have bigger TV's in the room as well.

Dealers weren't horrible, but they weren't good, either. Had a few situations where with more unreasonable types there would have been some real problems, but the players at our table that night were understanding and accomodating.

Lemonade is good and free.

Lots of poor play, btw. Some annoying characters - dumb kids with ipads and headphones, a few loudmouths, etc..

Only 1-3 with a small waiting list for 2-5. They said they are trained to deal Omaha8 but haven't had a game yet.

how'd you like the band? their singer's pretty good dude

i've been there four times and yet to book a win, but the play is poor overall and the dealers are coming along pretty well. i've been hit hard by variance. was in there last night for a couple of hours, play was atrocious, three tables of 1/3 running.

funny observation, there's this ugly fat reg lady there every time i go, she must be there every night, and she cannot sit still, is obnoxious as hell, nitpicks other players and dealers, calls the floor, accuses people of colluding, and has been accused of pocketing chips in her purse during play. anyone else know of her? i have yet to observe much of her play, just mentioning it because she's like a cartoon character or something.

Didn't see the fat lady. There was a lady, though, wearing white cotton gloves. Apparently to keep her hands germ-free. However, she ate at the table with the gloves on. Gross.

The band was pretty good!

I did well Friday night. Played for three hours between Craps breaks. Was at PI with 5 guys, all but one won $700-ish playing craps, poker. The poker play was a little weak - I didnt' get much in the way of hands. In three hours I played relatively tight. About an hour into the session I'm down maybe $30 and end up involved in a 3 way all in where I have a sneaky low 2-pair on a low board with two diamonds. End up all-in against two flush draws and got lucky when my two-pair held up. Next hand won another $50 or so and next hand took $60 buying a table full of $7 limp-calls after the turn.

Nothing significant after that - left the table up $300, won another $300 playing craps and $100 playing 3-card poker. Needless to say after my first trip to PI, I LIKED THE PLACE.

nice. got in a four hour session last night, sat at a pretty tight table with a cpl fish coming and going, not bad. a cpl of horrendous dealers, and a cpl pretty sharp ones. eight of the nine tables were running, and no wait list. beautiful. curious thing thouh, a guy at our tbl left for over an hour, (didn't ask for a dinner break, plus u can eat at the tbls anyway) and we asked the floor to remove his chips so we could get a new player. the floor would not because there was no waitlist. we asked a cpl times again as we watched new players filling tbls around us overall good night (booked a win) and the room was cool. watched a beatles tribute band through the windows also.

was up there for the first time last night from 130-200 (all I had time for). I was the kid fumbling chips in the white Cardinals hat if any of you were there.

Seemed like one decent player and at least one LOL player, but I wasn't there long enough to really get any other reads. There were about 15 or so people which kinda surprised me.

Will definitively be going back ASAP on a night where I'm not 1hr into being 21 hahah

Congrats on turning 21thess, and I may, or may not have played with you (if you were opening to like 21-28$ anytime you opened then yeah I played with you). The lady with the white gloves is definitely weird about the whole germ thing. Have seen her eat multiple times while still wearing the gloves. I played with "cartoon" lady once I believe, and don't plan on doing it ever again. I got in a verbal altercation the yesterday with a guy who flipped out because I asked if he just doesn't believe in folding to 3bets after I 3b his CO open with KK otb and he flopped bottom two with 36o. Dealers said absolutely nothing to him despite me being a regular there, and me not doing anything to keep him berating me besides defending my character when he brought it into question (which I don't think is unreasonable). Pretty disappointed about that, but w/e, I guess that's what I guess for saying absolutely anything after losing a hand.

ya that was probably me jon...and i only do that when there's 70 limpers haha

who were you?

I haven't seen the white glove lady yet.

Floor seems solid from what I've seen, and most of the dealers are pretty good. The one named Tyler in the packers jersey is solid and quick, I actually feel he might be a 2+2er(??). Couple other solid ones too. Overall, I'm enjoying it lol
