Kansas Star Casino opens 12/26, located on I-35 at Mulvane Exit 33, 15 mi. south of Wichita. Although it looks like the 5-table poker room won't open until late 2012.

I travel the US on the interstate system quite a bit, and played at this casino one afternoon last year.
I was not impressed.
One limit game going around noon on a Saturday, 5-10 limit, all red chips. Big waiting list for 5-10 and 2-5 NL, but no game started for over two hours. Finally after getting some 12 names for 5-10, they start another. If I hadn't stayed to eat, I would have been long gone to Tulsa or some other place down the road.
The floor people and management were non-caring and useless. They noticed one player took a smoke break, was gone maybe ten minutes, they went to look for him, and found him playing a slot machine. They immediately picked up his chips and gave the seat away.
First casino I ever saw do that. Now, the management might not take kindly to that kind of treatment; hey, like it or not, casinos love you to donk off money in the machines rather than nit it up on a poker table.
2-5 finally got going later in the afternoon. Poor structure, big range of buy-ins from 100-500. The place needs a smaller entry level game.
It is not on my list of places to hit. They act like they are the only game around- and they are.

I wrote this around a year ago. Like the previous poster Prairie Band, back when it was Harrah's Prairie Band, was a great place to play. It varied in size between 5 or 6 tables depending on where it was located. It had gotten busted down to 4 tables in its current location, was located in what now is the high limit room, and you could find all 4 tables going with a waiting list...and each table spreading different games especially if the bad beat was over $75k. One memorable night there was $4-8 Omaha, $4-8 Omaha 8, $1-2 No-Limit and $4-8 Limit Hold'em! Now, just a shell of its former self but if you can play Omaha 8 with any kind of skill that game is about the softest I've ever found. Check it out sometime, but if you make the trip plan on seeing what's going at the Golden Eagle a little ways away in Holton. Golden Eagle's Facebook page is worth keeping an eye on.

Anybody know about the Wed 2/5 games? I know they play it on that day, but ive heard varying info about how its set up. Ive heard thr game is uncapped, and then ive heard its $200 max, or capped during certain times. I dont want to drive an hr and a half for just a game if its max $200

Played here Fri night. Small room, with only 5 tables. Only 2 were running, both 2-5 NL. On the plus side, there was a lot of action in the game, and few tough players. Pots usually opened for 20-25. Buy-in was typically 200-300. Made it 20 utg with AA and got 5 callers! They cut off alcohol sales at 2 a.m., and actually came by and collected all alcohol, which was weird.
