well the first glaring reason is because it wouldn't make them any money and they'd have to justify the expense to their superiors. closing a cash cow bingo hall for a week will never happen. secondly, they won't use the banquet room because it's not wired for security and they won't put up tables they can't watch with cameras, even just playing with tournament chips. so that means they're limited to 20 tables or 200 players at a time, max. they could possibly run it in flights like the HPT, but they also don't have a hotel attached so they'd be relying on people commuting or finding accommodations downtown.

i would personally love it as i really enjoy live MTTs, but i'm afraid the market just won't support them in milwaukee.

Have a couple $200 events, a couple $300 events and a $500, with the Main Event being 1.5k-2k. Or if you want a TON of people in your Main Event, make it $1000. The $200 and $300 events can be 2 days, the $500 could be 1 day, the Main Event can be a 2-3 day.

10k in chips for all preliminary events with 20k for the Main Event. 30-40 minute blinds and don't skip any levels! Overall, run a good tournament. Bam! All of a sudden Poto is known for having a nice series, GREAT cash games during the series and maybe some new poker players to fill the seats during the week.

One series, once a year. Thats it. Try it out. Be your own Heartland Poker Tour. Quit living in 1999 and have a damn poker series. Thank you most kindly.
Stop it. You're making too much sense. Shiftyeye is right; it won't make an immediate profit for them so it won't happen.

This thread would probably get more traffic if POTAWATOMI was spelled correctly in the thread title.

Poker room [and casino] is packed tonight - I stopped by at 5:05 after work and the lower limit game lists were off the screen. Should be super busy all weekend.

Is the rake still $8 for 1-1-2NL? How many tables are going for 1-1-2NL still only 1?

Level? If not, at least you've fixed it by adding the correct spelling to the thread... and a quick check shows a search for "Potawatomi" puts this thread at the top of the results. Thanks, man. Now all the lost souls who populate the Pot but can't find this thread on 2+2 will come swarming...
Spoiler:
Many regs at the Pot don't even know about poker threads on the Internets, let alone 2+2...

still 8 dollar rake on 1-1-2 no limit they do reduce it at 5 players now though and they run a feeder game as well but play 3/5 players are just as bad and you save tons on rake

so absurd. do they still have that rule about not using your phone at the table?

yes they still have the cell phone rule, but they do allow you to have devices with earphones now. however, you are not allowed to use the device (change song, answer phone, text) while you are seated.

this is not the decision of the poker room, it's a result of the indian gaming commission. same reason they're not allowed to spread a chinese game or pineapple.

Who cares about the phone business, thats small beans compared to them having the audacity to give the players what they want but with 8$ rake. It breaks my heart that the house is that greedy and that the players are that ignorant.

would you rather them not have a 1/2 game? bottom line is that they won't run a game that isn't profitable, and 1/2 with a 10% rake maxed at $5 just isn't going to happen. you want a lower rake? play the 3/5. it's more profitable anyway. i love the 1/2 game b/c it keeps the nits down there and out of my 3/5 game.

the illinois casinos all run 1/2 with an $8 rake b/c they can get away with it, too. this is the midwest, not vegas. casinos don't have competition. unless you go to indiana, which is why horseshoe has a $5 rake.

if your posting on here you know probably more know about poker then most of our live 3/5 players anyways.....most of them dont know that poker websites exist if your really set on playing the 1/2 no limit then play small ball and bet sizing is really imporant where like betting 8 preflop instead of 9 can save you a dollar of rake and stuff like that but i dont see it changing anytime soon

Is there any poker promotion this month? I know Monday Night Football ended and I was there for the last "House that Jack Built" drawing. Nothing in Ante or on the web site.

No promotions + poker points not counting towards silver and black card = no thanks, I'll play online this year.

pretty soft 3/5 game. beginning of night everyone was playing really tight but as the drinks came it started getting really crazy.

only saw 3 people that seemed like regs and they all had a ton of leaks.

Not all of the Illinois casinos have that big rake.....the Paradice in East Peoria has a 10% $4 max for 1-2, and a 10% $5 max for 2/5 I believe. And they don't have much competition close by, so you'd think they could raise the rake if they really wanted to, but they haven't.

I have been out of state since early 2009, came back @ a month ago. WTF happened? Where did everyone go? Joe Willi and his crew ran this room pretty damn good. Now its like a frickn ghost town, filled with Zombie like figures walking around that have no clue. Noone has a personality, there was one guy on first shift that was funny as hell, chris or curt. Him and Joe seemed like they knew what they were doing. Does anyone know if they went somewhere else cuz im going there. Very bad experience never coming here again. Dumb ass mf working here.

I've boycotted the place since they put in a 1/2 NL with an $8 rake. This proves they don't give a crap about anyone except there greedy little money grubbing selves. I've found juicy bar games all over the place with no rake. F Poto!

I also played at Dejope (in Madison) last Friday with the poker pro tables. Not too bad...($5 rake) and I am willing to drive an hour out of the way just to stay away from that dump until they become a player friendly room.

Appears there's a lot more people out there that feel like me. They could have such a nice room, if the right people were running the place.

Let me know when this happens and I'll come back and Im sure a lot of others will too.

it's odd that i never heard the 3/5 players complaining. only the 1/2 players. i agree that the rake is awful, but we've discussed their reasoning ad nauseam in this thread. the staff in the room can't do anything about it. complaining on a forum isn't going to help.

i've always found good games here and the majority of the dealers are competent. the floor people do the best they can with the very strict rules that are placed on them by the gaming commission. i've played a lot of hours there and never felt mistreated or unappreciated.

so when i hear stuff like this:

it makes me think you went in one time and had a bad experience. you say a guy is grizzly looking, snorting and talking loudly. did he offend you? was he doing something unfriendly to the players? if that's the case, then please get his name and post it. otherwise, nothing will get better. but please, next time come with solid examples. don't say he was "grizzly looking." what good does that do anyone? do you really want the room to improve or do you just want to complain?

Yeah I agree, I should not just describe someone and complain, but really not sure of his name, Big Guy, beard, looks like he was missing some teeth in front. He was more offensive to the other employees, by talking down to them and using a loud tone. I used to go in there alot back in 2006-2009 and never experienced a bad time. Then I moved and started going back, it just seems that the room has totally changed. It seems unfriendly, and I witnessed lack of knowledge from staff when they were called to some games. Well just my opinion, I dont mind driving 2 hrs somewhere else just cant go as often.

Hmmm, I gotta go more often, but for the most part living in madison, I'm closer to Ho-Chunk. Maybe I'll stop by the Pot if I"m making a trip to or from Chicago and want to go that way.
