The Last Frontier in La Center, WA, has 20/40 every Tuesday and Friday, and occasionally on other days. There have been efforts at various times to get a 20/40 game going in a few of the Portland clubs, but nothing has stuck.

Too snarky, I know. May have been drinking...
I don't go there very often, last time was maybe 2 months ago. Give em a call.

Probably goes without saying but these strip club games have volunteer dealers, no cameras and no floor and you will very likely be the only non-regular. I have seen people openly sharing money and pretty sub-standard dealing. Last time I went to Kit Kat after a Timbers game the dealer washed the whole board while I was all-in and called. He then proceeded to (with the full agreement of all the regulars) pull the board out of the muck and deal the turn and river. I knew my top 2 was behind to trips and gave it a go to declare the hand dead but he insisted. Didn't suck out and promptly left.

Going to be visiting Portland in a few days. Does anyone have any recommendations for poker rooms for low stakes NLHE?

Portland Meadows is your best bet.

Sorry as I'm sure this is a repetitive question - anywhere in Portland to play 5/5+ NL or PLO?

Poker scene in Portland is a little dead for such a big metro area. As the other guy suggested, I would look into Portland Meadows. Used to be at the old race track. Now it looks like their card room is over in NE Portland on Killingsworth. Their rules are a little weird to get around the laws (you pay a "membership fee" instead of rake), but it's always been a pretty good experience when I've played there. I'm not sure what stakes they offer at cash though, as I basically only play MTTs. I know they do run cash games. They call them freezeouts to get around the laws, but they work like a typical cash game AFAIK.

The poker scene is "a little dead" because most of the games aren't really legal. In the past, they were shut down semi-regularly, but for the last few years the Portland PD has had more important things to worry about.

Thanks. Do any say $500+ tournaments ever run?

I doubt any of the Portland venues get that high. Maybe Meadows on very special occasions?

Your best bet would be one of the semi-close casinos like Chinook Winds (OR coast) or Windhorse (inland, Pendleton, OR).

They've run some reasonably big stuff in the past:

I think COVID has impacted their poker stuff though, so it may be a while before they run anything (if ever).

Not the answer you are looking for, but a lot of Oregon-based players just head to LV when they want to play big stuff. 2 hour flight.

10 full tables at Meadows last Saturday night with frequent $1k+ pots at 1/2, bomb pots, deep stacks, running it multiple times, etc. It was so busy I had to park in the Comcast lot and hope I didn't get towed. I mean, it's not LA or Vegas, but I also wouldn't quite characterize it as "dead"...

Final Table and The Game are the better rooms for tournaments (esp with larger buyins), but Portland Meadows can't be beat for cash. The Game in SW specifically I know runs $300 buyin tournaments fairly regularly.

Anyone know if Chinook Winds is still planning to run their PacWest Poker Classic or Fall Poker Classic anymore at some point in the future?

I noticed both the PacWest Classic Twitter account and Instagram account seem to be gone now, although the CW Poker Facebook account is still there.

FYI: The "Oregon State Poker Championship" is happening at Portland Meadows this weekend.

$380/no rebuy, NLH - Saturday at noon.

$280/no rebuy, Big O - Sunday at noon.

Last year it ran (2019) the NLH prize pool was around $80k.

Update (for anyone interested): I heard Chinook Winds is hoping to run the PacWest Poker Classic from March 5-13, 2022. But it's only a maybe, because of Covid of course.

Did you hear anything about the poker room re-opening in general? I just messaged them on FB to see if I can get any info.

PacWest Poker Classic at Chinook Winds is officially ON from March 5-13, per their main Facebook page.

All tournaments have a guarantee. With the disarray happening regarding messaging of the event so far, wouldn't be surprised if this is overlay city.
