Oregon is pretty much a wasteland for gaming employees. There are a few tribals but not really anywhere one would want to live or work.

Actually, you may want to look into the Wildhorse in Pendleton. I don't know how the poker room is regularly, but they get busy during the Round-up Tourneys (3/ year?). The cost of living is low and there is a lot of outdoor activities nearby if you are into hiking, camping, hunting etc.

I haven't been in several years, but then poker was essentially non existent outside of the roundups. I drove out from Vancouver WA one summer day expecting to find a flop game. I think there was one white chip LHE game going. I lost my $500 in quick order at blackjack and drove home. **** that place. Also, living in Pendleton seems like it would be horrible for the average person.

I've been there twice now, once the second week it was open, once last night. Everything is great except for the games, ha. The room is very nice, very comfortable. New tables, new chairs, new chips. Solid dealers, attentive bar staff, decent menu, TVs all over the place if you like that distraction.

But the games just don't exist. I always prefer cash, and first night I went there they had a 6-handed 20/40 limit game going. Floor assured me they would all join a 1/2 game if there were a couple more players. Yeah, that wasn't true. So I jump in the $50 tournament, which at the time was 7-handed about 30 minutes in. They get a couple more players, so we split to two short handed tables. I bust the tournament, and by that time there's a short handed 1/2 game going. Gets even shorter, and I leave.

Very similar story last night. Show up for cash around 7:30, it's six handed, play for 30 minutes and the game breaks. Jump in the tournament, 11 players playing so two short handed tables. $40 tournament with live rebuys and add ons, we don't hit the $1,000 guarantee.

I don't know exactly what it is, but the place just isn't drawing players. I would think that very conservatively the owners had to have put $40k-50k into the room. My speculation is they were/are counting on Meadows to close, which in my opinion wasn't well thought out; even if Meadows closes (which I think it will), Brian will no doubt have a back up plan/location.

Good review H_P. They have seemed a bit more desperate on Facebook. Did you pay $15 door on both days? Harsh if so.

Above it, front door right on Barbur. It was a chinese restaurant forever, then they tried to make it into a club of sorts (Rustix), now it's all poker.

It's a bit subarban-strip-mall bar feeling on the inside, but actually a pleasant environment. During football and basketball season it will be a much better place to play cards and watch sports than Meadows.

I did since I played tournament. Second time I played they refunded a guy who had just paid who was only able to play cash for 20 minutes or so before the game broke.

You also get two $8 vouchers the first time you play.

There isn’t that huge a player base around here, opening another room that isn’t terribly far from The Game, Rialto, etc is optimistic. And the east side players are still gonna mostly go to Final Table or Meadows as they are much closer and have more games going and bigger guarantees.

I've been focusing on grad school the past two years but used to play at The Game in SW on Barbur Blvd and I'm pretty sure that's still the closest room to me (I live on the border of Beaverton and Tigard).

Does anyone have the scoop on how the games are these days? There used to be a few great NL 1/2 games going most nights and the occasional 2/5.

Hey guys,

Feeling out interest for a late night "NL" game. We are in Washington state, so to be clear there's currently a $300 max per bet, via Washington State Gambling Commission, although that is also currently being reviewed.

I understand the difference between Washington's regulations and Portland's rooms, but feel the late night is missing a niche.

Exploring a 1/3, one night a week to start.

I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you in advance.

If you can provide some more details regarding the game, how it will run, safety, rake, and anything else related, I would be potentially be very interested in playing if it’s close to Portland.

I'm at The Last Frontier Casino in La Center, WA. Exit 16 on I-5.

To start, I'm looking at 1 day a week, with Thursday currently in mind, but that depends on where the most desirability lies.

Rake is 10% up to $3 with a $3 Player Supported Jackpot. We have a well lighted parking lot with surveillance in and out, and security on site.

I run a clean game, focused on protecting the integrity of it. I am a poker player as well, and understand the importance.

Players with player cards also earn points for food and can additionally earn gas/gift cards as well.

I recently moved back to the area, and really looking to hear feedback from the community on what is desired. Again, I am aware of the difference between Washington requirements vs Portland.

I'm willing to take any reasonable requests to management, and I can ensure I will advocate as best as possible!

Thank you,

Will Spinden

Portland Meadows is still open. The site has been sold for development as a warehousing hub for trucking. There are rumors about the poker room moving to a new location once the building closes but nothing announced as of yet.

Will, let me know what happens with this, I just started doing the NW section for Ante Up magazine, so if it gets going, it's the kind of thing I can include in my monthly round up.

I have to go up to Milton Freewater for work all the time. That poker room is completely dead other than the roundups.
