Pub poker is nothing new, but only in Portland have a come across a poker game in the middle of a full-on strip club.

I'd like to play some poker tonight (meadows or final table) for the first time in quite a while.

How are things working with the players dealing? I was quite apprehensive when I first read of these changes. Is the deal being passed around? Is there usually a table captain volunteer that ends up dealing? Who is keeping the players in line when it comes to splashing the pot and other rules players frequently break?

Thanks!
Mike

I was at Meadows a couple of months ago. They have dealers, but they are considered to be "players" in the game. This person does all the work and keeps the game running. But they have to pay the entrance fee and have a lanyard to show that they are a "player" even though they are not actually playing any hands.

Also, you cannot tip with chips. You must tip with cash.

I know nothing about the current situation at Final Table.

Good luck!!!

I play at thegamepdx, and there is always someone at the poker room that deals. They deal themselves into the hand but don't play. We tip them with our chips.

Thanks Rick. I ended up playing at the Game since it's closer to my home and it operated as you described. The action wasn't what I've witnessed there in previous years but the games were still fun.

Hey all, I have posted a few times before in this thread. I'm a busy guy, former poker pro but have another very hectic job which I'm deeply dedicated to in the charity sector now, and I only occasionally have time to play. I've got an afternoon off for the first time in about 10 months, and I'm headed over to The Game this afternoon, as in my experience last fall, that was the best option if you had only afternoon (no evening/night time) to play some poker.

Looking at recent posts, it seems Rialto is going again with great action, but only in evening and night, and Final Table is only any good on Friday nights. In my experience, the Meadows doesn't get games moving until 2PM really, while at least the 1/1 table is full at The Game by 11:30 AM. So, I'm headed there.

Does anyone have better advice for someone who has the occasional Friday, Saturday or Sunday early-to-mid afternoon free for some poker, or is The Game still top notch for that rather strict requirement?

Hello.
I posted a thread asking about Eugene, and was told to ask here.

I'm moving to Eugene and find myself in a position to do something cool. I get a decent amount in disability so my requirements for funding aren't huge. Would the clubs in eugene be big enough, especially considering no rake, to bring in 2-3K/mo? Obviously winrate and volume are considerations. but, if both of those variables were favorable, would it be possible in the 1/2 games with a few shots at 2/5?

Also, what is/are you favorite club(s) in Eugene and why?

Thank you.

I live in Eugene. The "no rake" is a complete fabrication. They take drop, take a % of your buy in, charge membership fee to even win the bad beat jackpot that you're forced to pay a drop into. I live close to full house poker, and although its nice and professional enough, they are constantly dishonest about what goes into tournament pots, what gets charged at the cash game and everything else. The other rooms in Eugene are a bit more honest, but still end up raking an arm and a leg. I'm not sure how often 2/5 games run around town.

That’s disheartening. I guess I thought that since it was “social” and they charge a membership that the cash games don’t rake. I was going to start grinding 1/2 and take a few shots at 2/5.

Thanks for the heads up on full house. I think Beach looks promising.

There was some sort of financial judgment against one of the owners that led to a "Till Tap", where sheriffs take all of the money.

The Friday $10K GTD started an hour late, all of the money taken (most of which was player prize pool money that didn't belong to the club) was made up by the other owner. Everyone got paid out (pretty sure, because I took 2nd in the tournament and was there until closing).

Sounds like it happened again. Can't be good for business.

Sometimes I forget how good we have it here since I don't play much anymore. Played some at Little Creek outside Olympia around Christmas and they were taking $6/hand! $3 rake and $3 jackpot drop. Unreal.

Sadly, they didn't show all of that session; they did just two episodes and then recorded a session with Andrew Neeme and another vlogger and pre-empted us.
