I'm not sure how e-tables are going to fix the legal issues. There still have to be floor people, are they going to be untipped volunteers? Even if the only people working there are owners, they're still profiting from gambling.

The agreement comes after Portland Meadows received permission from the city to install these types of tables which will negate the need for dealers to be employed

Per NW Poker FB group Brian from Meadows is denying the facts in the press release.

E tables really highlight the hilarity of slot machines being in every Oregon bar but POKER BAD

The electronic tables definitely alleviate a lot of the issues, but it doesn't fix the paying-the-fee-for-gaming issue. They're going to have to offer additional activities. Who knows where the City is going to come down ultimately, but it's going to have to be something that isn't clearly a farce.

No electronic tables. I honestly wonder is this means they're giving up? Seems like the "no dealers for tips" thing was a pretty big sticking point for the city.

Seems like the most likely outcome.

Agreed. Reactions from players has been almost unanimously negative, that negative ranging from "I'll try them out of curiosity but will find a new game" to outright disdain for the idea. Given the numbers thrown around for how much the licensing costs on those, my bet would be Meadows heard the same grumblings and decided it wasn't worth the investment (even for a trial period).

Strange that that company is based out of Vancouver. We dont use the e tables anywhere here. Maybe they make other slot machines or something.

I read that the Rialto was closed for clean up and repair after a recent fire on one of the upper floors of the building. There was a poker game run by One Good Hand in the Rialto corner bar.

Anyone know if the poker game has reopened?

Thanks.

The whole place, including where the game was played, is still closed and expected to be for another 6-8 weeks.

One Good Hand also runs games at Claudia's IIRC. Maybe try there.

Claudia's is 0.25/0.50 FWIW.

Rialto still closed for a week or so. They've "moved" the Rialto game to Claudia's for the time being, which really just means they're running .50/1.00 at Claudia's with Rialto dealers. However, what I've heard is the Claudia's .50/1.00 actually plays like a .50/1.00 and doesn't get deep, where the Rialto game played more like a 1/3 and got pretty deep.

Unless it's changed since a month ago, the HE games at Claudia's have 25 cent / 50 cent blinds.

Went to Meadows last night. There was a single 1/2 PL-BigO game and two 1/2 NLHE games as well as the HE tournament. Later during the night, a second Omaha game started and the HE games combined into a single table.

I asked around in person and was told what you note above - the Rialto game is being held at the Claudia's location, only two of the prior Rialto dealers are running that game, and it runs every day but starts late around 8 pm. Also, Rialto may be closed for weeks due to the fire at the start of the year.

Right, that's what I'm saying. Claudia's is .25/.50, but since they're dealing the "Rialto game" there now, they have one table of .50/1.00.

Ahhhh....

I get it now.

The 50 cent / 1 dollar game, when located at Rialto, was running really big.

But the same game, now located at Claudia's, runs very small.

I guess that the people who went to Rialto to play are not going to Claudia's. That is a huge loss. It was a most excellent game.

Exactly. There are a few Rialto regs playing Claudia's, but not regularly. Claudia's, despite being a bar, also lacks the random drunks and tourists who popped in to play every now and then.

They still have poker rooms right? At least Spirit? I really wouldn't be surrounded if Chinook didnt.

Spirit moved their poker room to some old conference room near the valet. That might have only been temporary (this was a few months ago), but they're clearly downsizing. I showed up on a Thursday around 8:00 and the only game going was breaking.

Don't know about Chinook, but my guess is they still have one. There are enough old-timey regs to keep a table or two going. They have the PacWest Poker Classic still, which brings in a bunch of players. That runs the end of this February for a week or so.

Yeah. I don't know about now, but around 5 years ago they'd play 5/5 at Little Creek on Thursdays and the room was basically nonexistent elsewise.
