And its been the case for a long time. In 2007 I naively drove out in the summer for my first ever visit expecting to find a 10/20 LHE game in a busy room for some foolish reason, only to find a single 4/8 game in a tiny awful room. I lost my case $500 in ~20 minutes of blackjack and drove home.

Spirit Mountain casino is 30-40 minutes from Salem.

https://www.spiritmountain.com/

Cheap buffet with great food, free sodas and coffee for poker players (self serve machine), and last but not least, a very soft game.

Players come from Portland to play.

Good luck.

Does anyone have info on PLO running in any Portland casinos? Does Portland have the same $300 max as Washington State? What are the names of casinos with active poker rooms?
Thanks,
OD

Technically, there are no Portland "casinos". There are social gaming card rooms in Portland. All money in the pot is player money, the rooms charge a $5–$15/day fee for membership. Tip your volunteer dealers.

Also technically, there are no cash games in Portland, there are "shootouts" which are tournaments that run for various amounts of time with no increase in blind levels and where you can always buy more chips. Rooms will have their own extra rules.

There aren't limits on the size of pots. If you watch the "Poker Time" shows produced in Portland on YouTube, you'll see games where thousands of dollars change hands.

That said, most of the action in Portland is $1/$2 to $2/$5 NLHE. And very little straight PLO, though you will typically find Big O (5-Card PL Omaha Hi-Lo) at Portland Meadows and (I think) The Game. Also check Claudia's for smaller Omaha Hi-Lo "equity tournaments" on weekends.

I have a rare chance to play poker tomorrow night. I live on the West Side. I was thinking about the All In Poker Society but their website is no longer active. Has this place shut down already?

Given the way things work in Portland, it might be beneficial to the community to have a club directory on a single website, in which each operator can provide update to its own club.

It's hard to find information to some of the clubs, especially when you are an outsider from out of town.

PokerAtlas.com for Portland

Not everyone's there (Lucky Devil, Rialto, etc.) but they easily could be if they send their info to PokerAtlas.

Was hoping for something more interactive and updated than Poker Atlas.

That website is about as accurate as Yelp when it comes to finding poker.

It really shouldn't be too hard to create a website, assign some accounts, and allow rooms to update its games availability.

I covered poker tournaments out of Portland for years on my blog, with weekly updates on special events. I can tell you from personal experience that just tracking information down on their web sites can be incredibly frustrating because they're often not updated in a timely basis.

So I'm pretty sure that creating another website where they could log in that they would have to update probably isn't going anywhere.

There is a NW Poker group on Facebook. It doesn't have a comprehensive list, but the rooms that are active online post there.

I will say, PokerAtlas at least has paid people doing their database updates. Rooms can send in information and corrections—you can even send in corrections yourself—and that's probably better than a volunteer list where is a room closes it just stays there.

I follow your blog - one of the best local blogs for poker.

I think perhaps you're missing the big picture I was trying to communicate. Because Portland poker rooms are clubs rather than casinos, there are very little incentives (and budget) to promote its rooms.

Facebook group is not bad, but it is more less made for locals and regulars, not attracting new players. PokerAtlas is not bad, if you're just looking for what might be out there if you're from out of town. FWIW, I traveled all across the country for work and I knew of PokerAtlas for several years, and yet I almost never use it to find poker rooms. It's just not very reliable, almost like those old casino directories from the early 2000's.

Because Portland poker clubs are scattered, because none of them are actual casinos, and most importantly, because poker as a community would benefit from more players, it would seem to make most sense for such community to band together, or at least the very minimum, to create a unified directory with updated information to allow non-regulars to navigate and find these rooms.

As someone from Seattle who has played over a dozen times in Portland, I still find it damn difficult to figure out where games (certain stake and type) are.

It is really as simple as having an account and have someone who's likely sitting there collecting the club fee to update number of tables and stake using his/her phone.

Just a suggestion, nothing more. As a fan of poker, I want to see the community thrive and I would love to see Portland grow as a poker community.

Keep up the good work on the blog - it is most fun to follow it during WSOP.

Thanks for the kind words on the blog. I've kind of backed off of it this year because of other work.

Final Table is the only room with an actual live table feed for shootouts. There's a link to it on their web site, but when I did it for them I couldn't get it embedded directly on the home page.

FT had someone write a dedicated server for it, but you're right, it could easily be done for all the rooms. I'd talked to Meadows about it a while back but they've got bigger fish to fry at the moment. Maybe when they reopen in a new location.

There are a number of places to play in town, mostly smaller venues, in addition to Final Table (finaltable.club)

Aside from The Game on Barbur, there is Claudia's on Hawthorne (onegoodhand.com), also the Rialto and Kit Kat Club downtown. Newly opened just across the river is Trio (9th & E Burnside). and a bit farther out is the Ambassador on Sandy.

If you're on Facebook, check out the NW Poker group, most of the current info is on there.

What club is in the tourist friendly area or at least close to possible sightseeing during the day and play at night time.

Defending on what you're heading to see, Kit Kat and Rialto are downtown, so close to a lot of stores and restaurants. Trio is in a section of town that's less amenable to foot traffic, but it's in the central city where there are a lot of restaurants and a fairly busy nightlife (it's a nightclub itself). None of the other locations are really all that far from the center of town. If you're driving, you can get to most in 25 minutes from downtown, assuming it's not rush hour.

Looking for a few players for our rake free- friendly .20/.40 PLO/5 Card/NL game on Pokerrrr2. Most players buy in for $40-$100 and reload as necessary. Some of us also play a much higher playing $1/$2 game that plays more like $5/$10. We used to run every night but some players have dropped out. Mix group of players, no one amazing, 3 or 4 pretty good players, mostly players that play for fun. As a precaution will need to Venmo your buy in before the game and we are very transparent. All honest good guys who chat and talk via group text about poker and betting/gambling in general. Reach out if you want a seat! I live in PDX and before the shutdown played regularly at Rialto and Claudias. This is a fun, low key game with no rake!

With Covid going on I thought this might be a good time to update what is currently running in the PDX area. Please feel free to add onto this if I missed something:

Portland Meadows
The Game
Final Table Poker

That's it in the major Portland area, right?
