Poker in Europe. Poker in Europe.

Hello. I'll go to either France or Italy and will stay there for at least 6 months. I'd like to know more about the poker scene in both countries. I played in Italy previously (Florence) and there were only two ilegal NL50 tables running. I was also thinking about going to St.Moritz (Switzerland) since they have a poker room but I don't know how big the player pool is, same goes for rake. Going to Germany is also a possibility if the poker scene is big enough.
I forgot to say that my idea is to win some money and not play for fun. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Someone will have more detailed info prolly, not a lot of Italians around here, but I think there are only few places in Italy where you can play legally, and they are not in the major cities. France is open for the most part but the rake is pretty monstrous, same for Switzerland. Playing for material gains in Europe is notoriously difficult, has been discussed here many times, those places where you can play mostly have other hindrances such as limited hours, dress code, bad management, entry fees, outrageous prices for drinks etc. mostly multiple of these. In the effect is that it prevents this from being really grindable. It might be possible in some instances, London, Barcelona, Prague and a couple others but the advice would be, save yourself a lot of headaches, buy a plane ticket to the US...

Thanks. It seems that's the consensus and, with a few exceptions, there's no money to be made in Europe.
