Free food is back.

You can check which games are running via https://www.playground.ca/poker/games. PLO games typically start running at 10:30am until early morning.

You can typically sell USD at the table to other players for the spot rate. You can also sell to the cage for a pretty bad rate, but you can buy that amount back at the end of the day.

Just wondering if anyone on here plays the 10/25 game regularly at PG. Is the buy-in capped? How often does the game run? What is the rake like?

Buy-in starts with a $10k cap, and the old rule was, you can buy-in more if you were losing - something like $10k plus half of what you are down. They keep track of how much you win or lose.

Generally, the game is a semi-private game, and you need to speak with the host to get your name on the waiting list. My understanding is that they try to keep the games healthy, so no nitty pros. They are more lax about who they let play during high traffic times such as events.

Note the game plays with an auto-straddle (A/S) so its actually a 10/25/50. NL Rake is 5% capped at $50 last time I checked, but it I think it goes up to $75 during events.

Game used to run 3-5x a week, and everyday during events. Peak high stakes action was about 5-6 years ago, when there would be 4-5 high limit games running concurrently during the WPT, but it was mostly 1-2 pre-pandemic.

Anyone been there? What is the waiting time like?

It calmed down to normal this morning, but waiting lists were like this yesterday afternoon (in parentheses = number of tables running):

1/2: 100 (8)
2/5: 59 (3)
5/5: 13 (2)
5/10: 17
2/2 PLO: 23 (1)
2/5 PLO: 17
5/5 PLO: 7
10/25 NLH A/S: 14

Honestly its pretty funny they limit the number of tables due to covid but theres like 100 guys at the front desk waiting for a seat, so covid cant get you at the front desk but you can catch it if theres more than 20 tables running lol

I doubt they're all packed at the front desk. Probably one of these 4 while waiting:
  • Playing slots next room;
    At the restaurant next door;
    In the parking lot/car surfing on their phone;
    They reserved a seat by phone and aren't there yet.

What's the rake like on the 2/2 plo and 2/5 plo? Is this plo action daily?

I don't go there often, but according to my sources, there was pretty much at least one table of each (2/2 PLO and 2/5 PLO) running daily, at least pre-covid.

I heard for 2/5 NL, rake is 5% $16 + $2 BBJ.
I guess it's something similar for 2/5 PLO?
Playground Poker Club (Kahnawake, QC) Quote

2-2 plo is 10%, 10$ max + 2$ bbjp
2-5 plo is 5%, 15$ max + 2$ bbjp

Best value is the 5-5 plo same rake as the 2-5 plo and deeper buyin structure

So went the other day, its true at 2-5+ is now 16$ 5%… sneaky b@stards lol

Holdem buyin structure is deeper
50-250 1-2
200-800 for 2-5
500-1500 for 5-5

Gg for casino if ever poker re-opens, the only nice thing was their 2-5 at 200-1k structure

Since the re-open, have the games been spewy enough to really be profitable and beat the rake? Thinking of playing some PLO when I go up there in two weeks, but $18 off the table for every 24BB pot at 2/5 and 5/5 just seems really awful.

Rake online is much higher as a % of the big blind. I think the 4hr+ wait is worse.

Theoretically its 16.10$ they take a 5% cut from the badbeat. Only went back once so cant really tell you but from what ive seen rake is beatable with good table selection of course.

You dont really wait 4 hours unless you only play 1/2 holdem and you come 6pm on a saturday, come early , play 2/5+ u should have a seat within 10 mins.
