Any idea on when the new Hotel/Poker room is scheduled to be open?

They’re suppose to open a new hotel/poker room next door and the current poker room will become all machines and electronic baccarat/roulette/ bj tables. The new poker room is suppose to have around 70+ tables.

I've only played online and wondering a few things about live at Playground.. I hope you guys can help.
What language is spoken at the tables? I don't any speak French.
Are the non-playing players of a hand able to speak as it is being played out?
Can't help but feel I will be at a disadvantage if everyone is speaking French especially if talking in code.
Thanks guys

They speak English and French at the table both are acceptable. Dealers all speak both so if something is going on you don't understand they will explain. It was an amazing place to be before covid but it's not quite back to that good. It's still a good place.

Tks. Appreciated. Will the dealer tell me the size of the pot if I ask? That's going to take me a bit probably to get used to, having to keep track of all the bets made so I know the pot size. So easy to see that and importantly everyone's stack size online.

You have to count the pot like any other casino but you can ask how much the bets are and do the math yourself. The dealer will answer in English. If someone verbal states their bet in French you can ask for a translation
95% of the players speak at least passable English.

When I played there it was 100% English, to the point where one of the guys (self-identified as Indigenous) at the table noted that it's sovereign land rather than "Quebec" so English is probably preferable

The primary language is English for sure but the rule "English only at the table" is basically modified to allow English or French so you can experience 2 players talking French to each other or to the dealer.

Can you wire cash to the cage ahead of time and keep an account rather than traveling with money? I find that security part about playing live, a concern. Maybe because I'm unaware of the process.

Almost everyone there speaks English, but to characterize it as 100% English in freaking Quebec pretty laughable.

Going to Playground for my first time next weekend. Any advice or insight?

Do they allow backpacks? I usually prefer to bring one to put keys and wallet as well as a sweater in.

Also since food is free for poker players, is this only when you are on the table, or is it possible for me to get a dinner button and go take a break and order but it still be free?

I think it's only free for 2-5 players now or higher.

That is not correct.
A friend of mine was there last night playing 1-2 and ate for free.

It's just that a few selected items on the menu are for 2-5+ players, but roughly 75% of the menu is available to 1-2 players.

Yes for backpack , security will ask to open and will chk it at the entrance. Be sure u don’t bring a gun , or ur own alcool 😂.

Food free at the table but u must eat at the table, and they don’t take out if u have a left over. U can leave the table and eat at the restaurant, but you’ll pay and will lose ur seat if u dont come back within 20 minutes.

Free food at 1-2 too , but the menu is limited to maybe 2/3 of the full menu.

Tiping the waitresses is mandatory obv.

Thanks!

Do they have chip runners or do the dealers sell out of the tray?

How is it getting an Uber/Lyft/taxi from Montreal to Playground and back?

It is about $30 each way depending how far by Old Montreal you are.

Just wanted to leave a mini review here for those unsure if they should check this place out or not. I was here for a week.

The good:
Dealers 10/10 - The weakest dealers at Playground would still be one of the best at the majority of the other casinos in Canada.
Food 9.5/10 - Free unlimited food from a great menu. Food is good quality and way above standard casino food.
Service 8/10 - Waitresses/cooks are sometimes a bit slow but there's 300ish people to take care of. Multiple chip runners.
Cage 8/10 - Tight area but the line is usually 5 people max and moves pretty fast.
Waitlist 10/10 - Call in an hour before you get here and you might wait 5 minutes max. Even if you dont call in as long as its not the typical busy hours you barely have to wait. List still moves fast with 150 players waiting due to great dealers and so many tables.
PLO 6/10 - Depending on how you look at it the games seem pretty juicy but steep bankroll needed to play. Usually only 5card runs and the 2/2 and 5/5 have at least 1 table going 18 hours a day. Triple straddles, multiple raises pre, usually bet pot on the flop. Hard for new players to try the game out.

The bad:
Euros 0/10 - Live bumhunters whining about others being bad for the game. Typical miserable dweebs with headphones and tablet out. Poker room cancer.
High stakes 3/10 - The 5/10 plays like online, its a little bit better when theres 3+ tables of it running which doesnt happen often. Higher games do run but the good ones will be private. Ive seen public 50/100 there before.
Recycling 0/10 - If you table change you can take all your chips off the table. Can be the same stakes so double up to $500 and ask for a table change from 1/2 to another 1/2 and sit with $50. Insane this is allowed.
Location 4/10 - PG is a ways away from downtown. The subway doesn't reach the entire way so you can only drive or subway+bus. If you are downtown and trying to get to PG you better learn the subway fast. (take the green metro line to Angrignon station and take one of the Chateauguay buses to PG)

I'm surprised about a table change of the same stake and taking chips off. Did you see that often or did you just fly under the radar the time you tried it?

Also, how would you travel from Angrignon station to Châteauguay though? Another bus I guess?

The rest is a pretty accurate review.

P.S. Were you there while the BBJP was still 2M+ or it had already been won?
