You dont really wait 4 hours unless you only play 1/2 holdem and you come 6pm on a saturday, come early , play 2/5+ u should have a seat within 10 mins.
I went to playground on the long weekend...

There was never any wait time. I played on Saturday morning, went back later that night and Sunday night. Walked in and was seated within 5 minutes. I did call ahead first.

Unfortunately though the tables are changed and are way tighter than they used to be. The amount of table change announcements was truly frightening. My friend plays 2-5 and talked to a 2-5 regular and says he changes tables 4-5 times a night just because of the tightness he finds.

It's especially tight in the morning. My advice is to enjoy Montreal in the morning and come and play around 7pm.

I believe they will accept US vaccine card as they accept Ontario. Still no tournaments and very limited cash games. I have not been there but I am told they are super tight. Legally they can host tournaments but they seem to not want to as they have limited staff.

Hey guys,
What are the buy-in max amounts for 1/2 or 2/5? Can't seem to find it on the site. Making the trip this weekend for the first time.
Thanks!

Slick and daxile.

The information you guys are asking for can all be found on the Poker Atlas website, which you can also use to get on the waitlist for games.

From my knowledge, the max. buyin for 1/2 is $250 and 2/5 is $800.

Around 10 1/2 games are on at one time on average and like 5 2/5 games.

Thanks those buy-ins are correct. Was there this weekend and it is so much better than anything in Ontario or BC I have played in. Even got a room share of the BBJ on my 2nd visit

Yeah, it's a great place alright( Sarcasm). The rake at the place is almost triple anything in the states, and double any place in Canada. I mean it's ridiculous!!

Yes, they have free food, but on average, if wining 2-3 pots an hour, your paying for it big time!! Unless you eat continuously of course, then you may be able to break even.

Just looked up the rake. Unbelievable they charge that amount.. 10% rake at 1/2 capped at $9..

There's no way to justify being a reg in those games unless you have a significant edge.

10% rake at 1/2 capped at $9..

10% rake at 2/5, capped at $15 (I think), . A huge cost if you were to play for 10 hours.

Actually I just found this, it's worse when you add the $1 for bb and $1 promo.

1/2. 10% capped at 9$ + 1$BBJ + 1$ promo dollar
2/5. 5% capped at 15 + 1$BBJ +1$ promo dollar

When the gov't doesn't allow poker anywhere, the places that do tend to rip you off.

Whats the promo dollar?
Rake is 10% 10$ at 1/2 +2$ bbjp
2/5+ is 5% 16$ + 2$ bbjp

High af rake but no real competition , casino montreal poker is pretty much over because of covid and incompetence. The only competition is shady private games a bit everywhere in the city but they rake even more and you risk getting robbed, not getting paid, dirty environment etc…

Best bang for your buck is the 5-5 plo5 game, 5% 16$ rake , no bbjp drop.

The private games even benefit from the higher rake in the ''legal games'' as they can justify taking massive rake also.

What's the quality of play here? In my experience, Canadian games generally have far more regs and grinders.

I heard that there were a lot of games going on lately.
A lot of players are chasing the BBJP which is around 1.5M if I'm not mistaken.

Anybody have an update as far as a timeline on completion on the Hotel being built at Playground Poker? It would be nice to have the WPT's back there, but I'm guessing that won't happen until the hotel is finished?

Any post covid updates to this place or is everything the same?

The rake I am reading for 2/5 seems absolutely insane to me and its the worst Ive heard of in the entire country. I am wondering for anyone whos been at Playground and Casino Niagra which casino has the best action cause it would seem to me on paper the rake at niagra would make the games better.

Rake is the same as the last posts, they made the bbjp super hard to hit now, quad aces minimum, goes down a notch every 4 weeks, KKKK, QQQQ until quad deuces. They change the rules everytime a bbjp hits, i wish they would just stick to one thing, it’s getting annoying.

They’re suppose to open a new hotel/poker room next door and the current poker room will become all machines and electronic baccarat/roulette/ bj tables. The new poker room is suppose to have around 70+ tables.
