Are there any status match promos or freeplay promos? Particularly matching AC casinos...

Yes Live! Philly is currently matching tiers, including those from casinos in AC. Please bring a valid ID with you, as well as the card you want matched, which must be unexpired!

Can you still not get a beer in the poker room? When I came by for my "VIP Sneak Preview" you couldn't even go to a bar for a drink, you needed to be eating something.

Also, whether now or when regulations allow, will beer be complimentary in the poker room? I bought one beer at the center bar while there and it was $11 before the tip which seemed excessive...

Was there last night just under 3 hours. No beverage service.

Why is the room so empty? I was expecting it to be 10 tables or more considering it’s new. Is there something I don’t know? Maybe it’s still soft opening??

On Saturday they sent me an email invitation for "preview days", with a link to make a reservation so I don't think a lot of players know it's open yet or they're not advertising it.

What will matching Borgata Platinum get me? I am looking at Live Rewards and I am seeing very few tangible rewards? I mean... I am not sure what the point of a VIP phone line is and it doesn't specify what "Birthday Offers" actually are...

Can you tell more specifically what Live! does for Borgata Platinum, or for any other high card? Are there any Freeplay offers or free hotel or anything tangible being offered?

It is February 1st and the website still says "More to be announced closer to the opening!"

If you want to get suite, they'll prob need to check your play at other casinos.

Aside from that, not sure if they giving any match plays or give aways.

Thanks. Some buddies of mine called the room last week to ask why they had only 1 running and they said it’s just slow...

So I think people in MD and PA know about the room, they just prefer to go to Parx and other Casinos for whatever reasons. I never got an email about making reservation.

Is the room still in its soft opening?? The floor there says anyone can come at any time so how can it still be soft opening? I really hope it’s still soft opening because if not then the room is a bust

Well apparently their marketing dept doesn't know anyone can go there yet. Here's the email they sent but hopefully more people will end up going there and 2/5+ games will start running. Also unless they give comps on rooms it's gonna be hard to compete with borgata. I got it on 1/29.

The room is never gonna hit it's full potential until fans can go back to games. When they can, I can see this being the best room (especially on Sundays) on the northeastern coast. Until then, they're gonna need to try to pry players away from Borgata, Parx and Rivers

Going weekend of 2/12 (Chinese new year) hopefully the wait won’t be obnoxious like borgata or parx

Went there last night for second time. Spent 3 hours. Casino was busier and the poker room was busier than last time but still slow. There were I think 5 tables running with no $2-5. Still no beverage service (which I know is due to current PA Covid protocols). I went into the main casino looking for a drink. At the bar there is no bar service and you have to be seated getting a meal for a drink. I was told there was bottled water at the entrances. When I went to the entrance I came in security there told me there may be some bottled water by the sign near the elevator. I went out and there wasn't any there. I don't know where there are any other entrances and didn't go looking for one. Went back to the poker room and asked the brush if they had any bottled water. Was told no and that there may be some at the entances. I relayed that I checked and there wasn't any. Sat back down and about 10 minutes later a security person came up to me and asked if I was looking for bottled water. I told her yes and she told me she would get me one. She came back a couple of minutes later with a bottle of water for me.

Long story short, Philly Live! customer service seems really good. And when I go back this weekend I will bring my own bottled water.

Agree! and that's why I wanted to share the story here. We are always quick to criticize poker rooms in these threads when they do wrong. We should also point out when they go above and beyond to do good when the situation is bad (and the bad situation is not their fault)

I've seen that they have some PLO going, even in these undoubtedly less busy times.

What's the word on straddles and running it more than once?

In PLO games at Live!, players are permitted to straddle UTG or on the Button. No other straddles are permitted, and button takes precedence. Running it twice is permitted as long as there are no more than 2 live hands remaining. Running more than twice is not permitted at this time.

I managed to get over to Live for the first time today. I think the greatest compliment is that while the room itself is physically new the overall experience feels like a room that's already been open for a bit - everyone seemed to know what they were doing and were in sync with each other.

For anyone wondering, at 1/3 it looks like 100 tier points per hour and $1 an hour in "self comps" - similar to MD Live. There's already some $$ in the Bad Beat along with a mini BB.

I also checked it out on Thursday.

Pros:

-I agree the room looks great. Chairs are comfortable and the poker room has its own bathrooms. Seemed like plenty of TVs around.
-Lots of food options, the only one that isn't open is the steakhouse which starts on the 24th-ish.
-Free parking in their garage. Friendly staff. Location near the stadiums and arena will be great in normal times.

Cons:

-Conversation seemed very difficult to understand with the plexiglass, even compared to other rooms. It's very enclosed... good for safety, bad for chatting and game flow.
-Dealer quality was hit-or-miss but that's understandable being so new.
-No beverages at all outside of the restaurants, even water. Same as Rivers and I assume it's a city policy, but it sure does suck!

For anyone interested, dealers are saying, when asked, that promos will start in March.

There’s a Courtyard Marriott not too far away. I’m actually trying to see what room options there are nearby, considering the room rates at Live are kind of expensive

I've played a bunch at live and overall I like it.

However, there's a couple of truly terrible policies in time rake games. They don't drop time until 10 minutes into the down and any new player that sits before that has to pay time even though they aren't getting a full down. They don't give half-time ever in a time rake game no matter how short the game gets.

Myself and several other people have complained to the shift manager who has said they're going to speak to the poker room manager but so far the policy has not changed.

Not making new players pay time and taking half rake when they came get short are just common courtesy that every other room in the area extends. I can't understand why live won't extend the same courtesy to the players especially when they're just opening. It seems petty and greedy and short-sighted to do these things. The minimal effect they have on the poker rooms bottom line can't possibly be worth it.
