Played in the 11:`15AM $140 quad stack tourney today. Arrived about 20 minutes late and was seated quickly after reg. Noticed today that alot of players were acting out of turn which got the floor called almost every time. Also some players thought that the 20 minute levels were too long with the 40K starting stack. Had one player at my table who i think may have been the first time he has ever played live. He had to be corrected multiple times regarding betting and min bet sizing. Overall it was well run and you could tell they were pressing to get the tourney finished before the pm tourney started. The final table was basically players shoving their 10 to 20BB stack. I ran my AQ into 99 and didn't improve for 6th place.

We asked them to balance several times, and they refused, saying it was their rule that they wouldn't balance unless the difference was more than two. I can certainly understand this in a big tournament with a lot of tables, otherwise the TD's would spend most of their time on it. But in a room with 5 tables running you can't take 30 seconds to move one player? It made no sense, and I felt they were quite rude about it. I have NEVER raised my voice in a poker room, and this was the thing that did it. Am I wrong here, or is it fair to have one table play short handed for such a long time? (Not to mention the lack of customer service). The game of poker is entirely rooted in fairness and an equal playing field for all - I just didn't think it was fair. Interested in other people's opinions.

I know the poker room rep is on here. If this is the actual rule, can you explain to me the reasoning behind the rule? If there is a legitimate reason for it then I'll stand corrected. However, I wasn't given a reason the rule exists, just "that's the rule". Thanks.
Sounds like you might want to address this in the Rivers thread instead.

Thank you for your feedback! We are constantly evaluating the structures of our events. I'm glad to hear that you think the tournament was run well. I know its frustrating when there are actions out of turn, it can definitely cut into the flow and play of the tournament. Some days just seem to have a lot, while others can go through the entire event with just 1 or 2. Looking at past paperwork, it does seem that yesterdays event went longer than the quadstacks typically does, even though the entry #'s were similar.

We hope you will join us again!

Actually this was at Philly Live!. I had originally accidentally posted in the Rivers thread and corrected it - not sure where the correction went.

I’m confused. You wrote that it happened at Rivers and it seems like you sought for an answer to a question from a nearby rival casino’s poker rep who happens to be responsive to feedback and questions in this forum (Live Philly).

Mod: He originally posted it in the rivers thread, then realized it happened at live, apologized in that thread, then reposted it here and forgot to change the name to live I guess. I deleted the posts in the other thread.

Adding to Live tournament discussion. I played the first tournament they ran and got my free beach blanket lol. I really liked how they addressed issues like players getting up and walking away right before break out of turn, acting in turn, etc. there seemed to be an emphasis on following est tournament rules to a T. Rules are even posted in the room. Some rooms get lax with these rules but it’s necessary or keep order as there’s a lot of money at stake depending on the tournament.
I plan to play again as I like the variety of tournaments offered. Sit n gos may be an option to add also in the future.

Can't lie...also got the beach blanket & I'm impressed on how Wolosz85 is running things. Best spot by far in the region for daily tourneys (not a paid sponsor...just a regular grinder) Keep up the good work!

Question for the rep: why no results on Hendon Mob? I think a lot of people would love to see their winnings updated as you offer more and more tournaments. I know I would really prefer it too

Why is Philly Live! trying to fix something that isn't broken by adding 1/2 and 1/3 300 buyin (???). The 1/3 buyin is only 100 more than the 1/2 buyin, this unnecessarily splits the player pool. I know Rivers still has both 1/2 and 1/3 and that's a big reason why I don't play there.

(from Bravo)
HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE, WE ARE NOW OFFERING:

$1/$2 NLH (Buy-in $100-$300)

1-3 NLH 100-300 1
2-5 NLH 300-1000 2

I’m at rivers Philadelphia this weekend for a tournament. I played a little cash and asked some older guy if Philly live was any nice. He said he wouldn’t play there bc 1/3 plays too big and he doesn’t like $15-20 preflop raises. Sadly, I feel a lot of the casual rec field thinks somewhat like that so that may be why 1-2 is in.

Not sure why you wouldn’t want to play in a splashy 1-3 game? The guy was at $300 in the 1-2 game so it wasn’t like he was short stacking by buying in for $50-200 when you can play 150bb poker at 300. This guy was super nitty omc though. I find it comical people think there is a big difference in 1-2 vs 1-3. It’s literally $1 more for the bb so open sizes may be slightly bigger which really isn’t material if you ask me.

either one is fine, but offering both is dumb

I agree. To me- 1/3 and 1/2 are basically the same thing. It all depends on how many bbs you can buy in for in regards to how the game might play per se.

Btw rivers Philadelphia is kinda a joke. They have a mask rule in the poker room but you can have the mask under your nose. They say something to you if it’s under your mouth…. But the nose, yolo. I don’t see why you would make people wear masks if it’s not covering the nose also. Just pure comedy.

1-2 definitely plays smaller in most cases because opening raises are smaller and thus pot sizes and future bets are often smaller. There are exceptions where 1/2 has same or bigger opening raises at a particular table but in general 1/3 opens are 12, 15, 18 etc whereas 1/2 is ten or 8. It is a smaller game. I agree it doesn’t make a lot of sense to offer both but perhaps the market in Philly is different.

What a joke... For this mornings tournament, there were already 60ish people waitlisted in just the 2nd level. There’s even a 47 person waitlist for 1/3. And they’re proudly offering fliers for next weeks 5 flight $100k GTD. How do they have the confidence to run a 5 flight tournament when a $220 Saturday morning tournament completely bankrupts their dealer supply? By the time my name gets called, I’ll probably only have 20bb if I’m lucky.

Idk if this is an outlier bc I haven’t seen any similar complaints in this thread. But after driving over an hour to come here and running into this, I don’t think it’s worth coming back. Just be warned, get here not even 1 minute late unless you want to sit around while your stack wastes away.

Yea, Thanksgiving weekend is probably the busiest day for a poker room. Judging staffing issues on that weekend alone is .... shortsighted.

Chopped the $450 Live! Size Multi Flight last night. Some thoughts:

*674 players over 5 flights. Payouts here: https://twitter.com/LivePoker_PHL/st...496151556?s=20
*Excellent structure
*Wonderful dealers
*Very strict TDA rules (warning for first out of turn action, including folding out of turn, 3-hand penalty the next time)
*At least the Saturday flight had a bunch of alternates who couldn't get seated for a while, though the structure is so good, who cares
*The $100 and $5,000 chips are practically the same color. Explanation was that "no one from poker helped order them."
*There are no tournament chips bigger than $100,000k. (And probably not a lot of them). So the tournament plays with RACKS of $5,000 chips because there's no ability to color them up, even when the blinds are $200,000/$400,000.
*Finally, after agreeing to an 8-way chop at 1am, it took over 90 minutes to prepare the payouts. Winners sat around for an hour and a half with minimal explanation.

Fix the staffing/preparation issues and you've got the best tournament in the Philly area.

Reduced rake is now full promo rake $3+2 instead of $3+1, disappointing.

Still a quality room though.

@Wolosz85: With Rivers Philly suspending tournaments at least until 1/8/22 & the new Philadelphia vax card mandate for indoor spaces, just confirming tournaments are still good to go for January at Philly Live. Thx

Hey All,

Just a quick heads-up if you haven't seen our bravo, been in the room or on the website...

The Philly 500 is cancelled for tomorrow due to inclement weather.

If you have any questions, let me know!

Thanks,
