The Parx Poker Room will be returning soon! Work is underway to bring the room back and we expect the room to reopen before the end of December. Once the exact date is known, we will communicate it through email and on all of our Social Networks.
Just in time for the second shutdown. Great idea.

I had the same thought, but it's PA, not NJ, so maybe they won't go that far.

That's because they're in Philadelphia and they have a shut down. It"s not state wide.

Not sure how to attach a pic but just stopped by parx and the tables are now laid out exactly as they were prior to shutting down

In a Facebook forum for poker dealers, someone posted that Park is looking for dealers (which based on their website they were as of a little over a week ago) and someone who I don't know personally but who has enough mutuals that worked and/or know what's up at Parx to make me feel she knows what she's talking about, posted:

Oh funny... because all of their dealers that got laid off because of the pandemic aren’t even being called back. Full time dealers who have been there for 8/9 years just being thrown to the curb.
If they're taking advantage of the COVID layoffs to purge full-timers with benefits, that's pretty shady. For those who don't care about dealers, this means they will be replacing dealers who have been at the room for many years and are for the most part very good at running your games with people who may not be as good.

They will NEVER find enough qualified experienced dealers out on the streets to open back up without calling back their own. Please follow up on this and post additional information when possible. Sounds too shady that they would do something like that, and I wouldn't wanna play there or support that room if they do. They're seeking applicants with only the following: Able to read, write and speak english, high school diploma, and able to pass a math test...if they start with all green dealers everyone will just play at Rivers or Borgata ainec.

One hopeful possibility is they didn't call them back yet because they don't yet have a firm opening date and don't expect all of them to come back.

that's pretty terrible as parx has excellent dealers

Borgata managed to bring back some bottom of the barrel dealers while not even offering the jobs back to a few really good ones (and they didn't have many good ones to start with)

One of the reasons Parx had so much early success and became so popular so quickly is the quality of their dealers and floors. Firing good dealers is a recipe for disaster especially when you know that they will instantly be hired by someone you are directly competing against in the relatively small market (just ask Taj). Also, the fact of them behaving like fricking scumbags and using a global pandemic to save a few dollars will not be unnoticed by customers.

I think the room did well because it was closer than AC for 10 million people.
Players were atrocious
No BBJ drop was a big plus
Comps that "never expire"... Until they do

IF true that they're throwing their most experienced dealers "to the curb" (I'd like to qualify that with a big IF and not let speculation run rampant), that's terrible. After a bit of a rocky start for me 10 years ago especially with their smoking policy, I came to like the room a lot and considered it as well-run and player-friendly as any of the best rooms in Vegas. A big part of that was excellent dealers.

I'm staying away from live poker until we have a widely available vaccine, but I do plan on returning. I miss it. I live 12 miles from Parx and it is easily the most convenient casino for me, but if the room degenerates into a Harrah's Chester experience, I'll drive a little farther and take my business to Rivers or Live!, which is no longer co-owned by Greenwood Gaming. I think most if not all of the ex-Parx dealers will find a home at one of those two properties if need be, albeit having to start over with tenure.

Sure but great dealers helped especially for building up their plo base. What you say is valid about being closer to nyc and philly as well but plo gets brutal with bad slow dealers who keep making mistakes in counting the pot. It's nice to play at Parx where almost every dealer can count the pot without issue instantly even in 2/2 where they're not allowed to round.Rooms absolutely do deteriorate if dealers/floor get worse.

No need to worry, Covid will F everything up again before they even have the chance to reopen.
Call me a skeptic, I just don't see it.

Does anyone know if they will run HH promos at the start?

I assume this is in the new room ? Not at East ?
I'm very curious to see how many people show up the first day. I will be there hoping they get a plo game running.

I don’t know myself but I would assume no for now. Let’s hope to get to the reopen date first before we get ahead of ourselves here. They are finally reopening after being closed for many months with lots of lost revenue to recover. I’m sure the place will be jam packed with players with huge waiting lists and I’m not sure if they need any more incentive to bring players in after being closed for so long at this time. Just my opinion.

With cases surging everywhere they draw from (Pa, NJ, NY) , how realistic is it to think this date will actually stand?

I'd bet a BB against it.

Yes, in the main building. Slots are out and the room looks just like it did in March (except for the dividers). I originally thought it would be packed on day 1 but since parx is opening at 5pm I'm not so sure. However guarantee the rest of week will be packed
