Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

There is 0% chance of being allowed to eat in the poker room lol. At MGM if u miss two buttons in a raked game your chips get picked up if there is a list or you can get on the dinner list and go to the food court (I eat outside bc duh) and then get back in the game when the next seat opens. You have 30 minutes from when the next dealer pushes if you have a missed BB button in a time charge game. Which is roughly 55 minutes or so if u max it out.

Tbh, i don't think i am comfortable enough with C-19 situation to eat at the food court but at the Borgata I'll always have room and 55 minutes should be enough time to get food, run to the room and come back. Not sure how to get around it at the Parx.

Do you require a full served meal? If not, you can grab a Wawa sandwich, put it in a cooler in your car and then walk outside and eat it while getting fresh air as you are taking a break.

There are also outdoor dining options available at Applebee's and Friday's close by. Will probably be too cold outside in Bensalem by mid-late November. If so I can live with eating in the car.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

thats too long to eat in a 6 max game. this is why Choctaw limits people to being away from the table only for 10 minutes.

Agreed but if u are paying $14 an hour for the seat in a time game that is technically your seat for the remaining 55 minutes.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

At Parx at least, you are paying per hh not per hour. In general people only get picked up at dealer changes, so you won't have paid if you get picked up.

Previously I think the rule was that you get picked up after your third absent button, so if you pay time and then leave, it could be up to 90 minutes. But (a) it often wasn't enforced unless the table really pushed for it, and (b) dealers often don't hand out absent buttons, and though players sometimes try they shouldn't be handing multiple ones out for being gone retroactively, and (c) the most annoying offenders are people who come back once every 60-90 minutes, play a round of hands, then leave again...ugh.

In the new world, probably 6-7 handed, perhaps they won't want to let people leave for as long. But they could still do it every 30 minutes, even on time rake tables.

IME players are far more likely to push staff to enforce rules short-handed for obvious reasons.

This is super annoying for multiple reasons. Really wish management would just tell dealers that when they sit down to throw absent buttons. It takes a few seconds to do.

I am hopeful that with less overall seats available, likely leading to longer waiting lists, that this becomes more commonplace

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

Yes my point was since your are paying for the two downs per hour you have approximately 55 minutes if you play your BB SB and Button and then have plenty of time to eat. Rake game players will have a tough time trying to eat and play if Parx does implement a similar strict walking policy.

I can easily eat in the car but it takes time to get out of Parx East, go somewhere to get food, eat in the car, come back, park, and walk upstairs. Wawa stop before the session might be the only workable alternative.

Barring some kind of disaster, Monday December 14th is the reopen date

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP

I had been holding out cleaning out my box, given all the rumors of a re-opening, but when I called recently they told me even if the room reopened we still needed to empty the boxes, so I went in this weekend to do so.

The following is all just second hand info from someone who has no real inside info as far as I can tell, so take it with however much salt you want.

The first person I talked to just said it was because "it had been too long", but the second person said it was because the casino needed to return the chips stored there into circulation because they wanted to make sure they got cleaned along with all the other chips being used. Having been sitting inside a box inside a closed room for 8 months now, I can't see that really being a good reason, they are probably the safest chips in the place, but perhaps they just need more in circulation to offset the stock that is not available day to day because they are being cleaned. I also suspect they just don't want the liability of having the boxes there since they are currently unattended while the room is closed.

The person also said she had heard the room was reopening in a few weeks, but that the boxes would likely not reopen for some time.

The poker room is now also under construction. Not much going on, but the person I talked to said she thought they were going to be spreading the tables out more (so fewer tables in the room I would imagine). Hard to say for sure, the room was empty except for some chairs, and the carpet was pulled up around the outlets, so could be anything really.

The Parx Poker Room will be returning soon! Work is underway to bring the room back and we expect the room to reopen before the end of December. Once the exact date is known, we will communicate it through email and on all of our Social Networks.
