Or, you can always play Wednesday $80 or Sunday $100 NLHE tournaments at Parx if you wanna practice NLHE w/o putting a lot of $$$ on the line
Good point. I might have to take a trip to Harrahs and check it out. Sands in Bethlehem is actually slightly closer so I'm going to look at that too.

I've been wanting to play a tournament. I only ever played one live tournament at the Excalibur in Las Vegas about 10 years for $35. Took 5th to double my money. I wish Parx had some tournaments with a lesser buy-in.

16,000 posts as an occasional 2/4 player- wow!
I'll check out Sands too. I thought that was a little too far, but turns out it's closer than Harrahs.

I haven't played poker since it was shut down in the US. Post count isn't really indicative of poker skill, especially when this site has many subforums.

I’m looking to go to Parx in August for Big Stax. I usually stay at the Holiday Inn, but it’s a little pricey this time around. Has anyone stayed at the Extended Stay, Radisson, or Best Western? If so, are they any good?

i've stayed at the extended stay and raddison
raddison is nicer, but both are fine as long as you aren't expecting a 5 star resort.

pro tip use priceline.

What!? They closed down Earl of Sandwich and are replacing it with a "gourmet grilled cheese" place.

What a cooler, that place had good food and prices and reasonable speed.

30k starting stack
45 mins level for 1-15.
60 mins level for 16 forward.
90 mins level after the final table is reached.
Breaks at 6:30pm for each Day 1. 75 minutes dinner break.( I actually wish the B would copy this structure).
Will be using the "popular" Big Blind Ante format.

While the field can be consider "soft", expect alot of notable eastcoast player to show up just look at the result for past FT or run deep.

Wow 500+ entries today for the $300 flight A. Is that normal for the 300s? I can't remember.

That means maybe 1k entries for the last flight D on Sat. I guess I have to change plans and head up this weekend.

Let's get that 100k score guys GL!

Look at the websites and see if tourney series are happening when you plan to be in the area. Regardless if you play cash or tourneys, if there is a series, that's the one you should choose.

I'm planning to come mid august. I see that MGM Harbor has the Potomac Poker Open and Parx has the Big Stax series. I assume the Big Stax is the busier one?

Am I the only one who hates the chips at Parx? I pretty much play 2/5 and 10/10 exclusively with $25 denomination or higher chips now because of how annoying it is to count out bets with the $5s constantly getting stuck together. Maybe it's just me.

So now at Parx you can ask for a table transfer and seat down with the minimum buying. Saw a bunch of fish table hopping like crazy in the 2/2 PLO. Thanks to whoever come up with that bright idea of allowing players to chip down.

You've always been able to do that.

Pretty sure you can't do that. ....get floor involved when you see this.

I hate that ten dollar chips exist there
It's beyond stupid

$10 chips are perfectly cromulent in the 40-80 game. They are used in all rooms that spread these games.

I suspect they are also fine in the 10-10 NL, 10-10 PLO, and 10-25 NL games, but I don't play those so I'll leave it to those who do, and you may be one of them.

The $5 chips (and maybe others, I'm not sure) have been sticky lately, through some combination of ****ty humid weather and age of the chips and degree of use and cleaniliness of the chips.

I don't like the $2 chips. If I dealt there I would probably feel differently.

But I make due.
