The game is soft, there're some tight/nitty players but you can figure them out quickly and give them no action. Sometimes you get a very tight table but it's rare. Many others go too far with hands, a few play too aggressively. The 10/20 kill and cheap time charge are nice. Plus fun to play stud 8. I recommend the game and try to play when I'm in the area. Most people are nice as well.

Anyone who is traveling to PARX from NJ via the Turnpike please note the Delaware River bridge is closed for at least 2 weeks, maybe more.

Hey I was wondering how far do you typically have to get to cash in the big stax 300? I frequently get close to the money in tournaments and I am debating whether the time spent playing is worth it since I could be playing cash during that time. Also is the competition much tougher in the big stax plo tournament than a typical daily plo tournament at other casinos?

Thanks and thanks all for answer my previous questions.

I won't say it never happens, and SB Sunday is likely to change the room dynamic somehow (better or worse, I'm not sure), but 15/30 generally doesn't run on Sundays, unfortunately.

Though it looks like it ran last Sunday for a few hours, and one other time in Jan.

Almost assuredly 6-12 OE will be running at least a table or two, as well.

That's helpful, thanks dinesh.

Is there any reason parx doesn't run smaller limit games? Would be nice to have something consistent going as a backup.

**edit: limit holdem, that is**

Yes, the reason is that not enough people want to play them.

Parx tried running 3-6, 4-8, 6-12 and 8-16 LHE in its early year(s), and the games barely ever ran before petering out completely. (They never tried a 2-4, at least in part because the rake is so high as a % of the bets that the game is completely unbeatable, and the room manager didn't want to do that.) I think one of the other local rooms has a small limit game that runs, but it is also a huge rake trap and not worth playing unless you just want to kill time while you give your money to the casino.

The more wordy reason is that a 10-20 game has a $500 buy in or so (average, not min), and a 4-8 game has a $200 buy in, and for whatever reason (TV, home game, what people learn nowadays) people who have money in those amounts prefer to play 2-5 or 1-2 NL, which have those similar buy in amounts.

Borgata still gets a 10-20 game going, which is good, but perhaps survives because it predated so much of the NL game? It's not very healthy just about anywhere else (except Vegas, Cali, and markets where NL is outlawed.) In lots of newer rooms with higher than average disposable income (in PA, MD, etc.), they are able to get mid and high stakes LHE games running, but the low-to-mid-states LHE games have never caught on, alas.

Anyway, most of this probably belongs in a separate thread, but those are my thoughts.

I'm probably going to do this in a couple threads but any chance of running a PLO / NL Holden game say nL 2/5 / PLO 1/2

Say sundays at 12 noon

Can't believe they got rid of Saturday day 1's for the 300 and 500 Big Stax. Really disappointing.

Any guesses on how many players the horse tourney will get?

Yeah, really a curious decision. Now people have to take a day off work to start the tournament as opposed to taking a day off to play the final table. I can't imagine this will have a positive effect on the turnout.

Parx's twitter account said that they couldn't accommodate the expected Saturday turnout aka they're not going to sacrifice cash table revenue. I'd imagine the Saturday day 1s will be back in May.

Why would it be busier in February than in May?

The WPT event just ended at Borgata so there's a larger number of players on the East Coast. Plus the televised event. They'll make a ton in rake, so they don't need the Saturday start. Being more of a cash player I'm not upset.

The February event is also associated with the WPT Deepstacks tour, which for some reason resulted in massive turnouts last year. Parx is generally receptive to player feedback (adding Saturday Day 1s, not having events with turbo flights), so hopefully they can think of something for next time.

I agree with acdawg. They could be just experimenting to see what works and doesn't. They've always been receptive to feedback. If this doesn't work out they'll adjust accordingly, which is why they're one of the best on the East Coast imho

You have to make day2 and play about 2 - 2 1/2 hours to cash for the $300. It's the best structure/value tourney I've played for that price. It's hard to find a $300 buyin tourney where 1st place could get as high as 100k. GL guys

I'm curious as to how today's turnout will be with the expected snowfall tonight. I was going to play day 1a but will now be going to day 1b or c depending on how the roads are.

Turn out will still be decent. There's hotel info in the pinned post. Without a guarantee the tourney will run as is I imagine. Will take a hit on entries tomorrow I'm sure. So I guess the overall entries suffer, but not today.

I'll be checking bravo but can anyone tell me if that 2/2 plo game has been going every night or about how many times per week? Any other info is appreciated as well.
