Or PLO?

Actually, the PLO game didn't run last night. When I showed up at 7 PM last night, there was a list of 6 people (me included) and it just kinda sat there. Then, one of the floor people called the game and only one guy heard the announcement and they didn't start the game (they sure do need to up the volume on the PA). I only noticed because when I was checking the screen to see if anyone else had joined up on the list, there wasn't one. So, I asked for a new interest list to be started, which they did, but was then informed that the game possibly wouldn't even run because they didn't have any tables available. Boo. I was stuck playing 1-2 NL for 5 hours in the hopes that a PLO game would start up.

I think the key for them (PARX) to get the PLO game started is to actually put it into action once they get 5-6 players on the list. That way, you have all these people waiting for 1-2 who might sit down for the PLO game and keep it running. At least hold one table open for it 'cause it sure is a bummer that the game doesn't run regularly.

Otherwise, on my second trip out to PARX I was satisfied once again. Parking was ample and although the walk to the lot is kinda weird, I didn't feel unsafe. Big ups to the bar management for having the waitresses wear booty shorts.

My Trip Report

Time: Friday night @ 7:30.... as was expected, all of the tables were packed and there was a 57 person wait list for 1/2nl and 2/4nl 30 something for 4/8 and interest lists for everything else.

My first gripe, As a spoiled person of smoke free public places I was instantly greeted by the rank smell of cigarettes as soon as I entered the 3rd floor. The bar is easily 30' from the nearest table but with so many people smoking there was no hope.. Not good, If I leave smelling like an ashtray it's not worth the conveniance of being close.

I didn't sit and play as I was on my way home from Philly and wanted to see it in person, so I cant comment on the play, dealers, etc. although I could tell that there were some nervous dealers ... This will fix itself in due time and I am completely cool with it.

I can envision what it will look like when there are more tables and am very much looking forward to the idea of daily tournaments.

I am gonna try coming back this Monday night to play and hope the game is half as juicy as I imagine it will be.

Cheers

p.s. Ban the smokes from the poker room FTW

I know they will make u a card at the podium , but do u have to go to the main casino to get a higher card with the free slot dollars. I.e borgata black card or Harrahs diamond for one of parx's higher cards ?

I went last night for the first time. The room (and the casino) are much swankier than I expected! I played 2/5 NL for about 3 hours. I was disappointed there was no Omaha game running higher than 4/8, and I was on the waiting list for 15/30 LHE, but the list never really moved until I was about to leave. I also got $75 slot dollars for my Borgata black card, which were easily converted into $75 cast by better on red & black at the electronic roulette machines.

With respect to the complaints others have had that I think are overblown:
- A few dealers were kind of slow, but generally very accurate and friendly. They were sticklers about following the rules, but this understandable.
- I smelt no evidence of smoking whatsoever, although I am not particularly sensitive.
- The $2 are entirely unnecessary in NL games, but really only small annoyance.
- Free alcohol would be nice, but they have some very cute cocktail waitresses to make up for it!

My biggest grip is that the tables are too small! I was constantly having difficulty moving my chair back and forth from the table when I wanted to get in or out. I really hope they will get larger tables or make the games 9 max. It is very frustrating to be physically uncomfortable in what is otherwise such a beautiful and promising room!

ok,did I miss something? This $75 is only for the higher cards or can any card get it? If so that sux. Is there any free slot dollars for lower cards? Do these cards have to be from a particular casino?

Any friday graveyard updates?

You are supposed to get at least $25. I did get $75 for my black card but they wouldn't let me play electronic roulette with it. Room is good, lack of rebuys, no free alcohol, some slow dealers are only a small issue. Smoke not really an issue. Player pool looks good and management looks eager to take this room to a high level.

Was back again tonight (Friday). Some new thoughts: I was pretty disappointed that we couldn't get a 30/60 game going, and the interest list only got like 5 names deep. I hope it's possible to get the bigger games running soon, or in all honesty, I'll be inclined to do the drive to AC. I'd prefer to avoid this!

The 15/30 game was fine, although I couldn't win a pot, but that isn't Ari's fault. I was pretty unhappy that the game died abruptly at around 1am or so when we had just paid half time and when I was stuck my balls. I thought this was pretty surprising for opening Friday night.

Had the hot roast beef sandwich with cheese at the bar and I have to say it wasn't bad at all, and was a VAST improvement over the cold italian hoagie I complained about the other night.

One gripe for the wifey (and it affects us guys too): They really should knock down a small section of that short wall over by the women's restroom so that women don't have to walk all the way around. This would also make it easier for men to go to the restroom from that side of the room, without having to walk over by the crowded podium area.

One last thing: the dealers still have trouble remembering to NEVER put us in Bravo "lobby mode" in the time games. I was keeping an eye out and whenever they would make a player blink I'd correct them. But then I went away from the table at one point and came back to my own light blinking...please guys, let's look out for each other. Although I did hear rumors that we aren't earning any comps yet???

Im in love with everything about this room... The layout, the competent floor, the tables, the cards (not those thick borgata cards), the fresh chips, etc... I feel like the theme of building this room was ergonomics.

BTW: I read a few prior posts about people feeling that the tables were a bit on the smaller side but the tables only appear to be smaller because of how wide the rail is. Notice how the cupholders are massive. I believe only the playing area on the felt is slightly smaller which makes it easier for the dealer to scoop in chips.

Well like I said before we need to start the bigger games short. Once going people will sit down. Also, there is no excuse for the 15 game to end at one! All the **** talking I heard the other night from the big shots wanting to kick the game up and when its time to perform they get real quite. It looks like this might be a low-limit nlhe paradise.

Think about it...hardcore players and poker affecianados are on 2 plus 2. With that there are only a few calls for stud, omaha and limit holdem. what would make you think that all of a sudden because a new room opens that there is going to be a hugh demand for these?

Look at the poker rooms and you will see lots of 20 somethings...they want to to play nlh for the most part. Personally I hope the other games get going (although I prefer nlh) but it likely is not going to happen on a regular basis. The problem is even if the aforementioned games above get off they do not last to long...because they are typically full of solid players and a couple of people leave the table and the game breaks up and there is no wait list. If you want these games to get off the ground on a regular basis you will have to hope the 20 something crowd shifts from NLH because they are the feeder pool for new games. IMO stud has very little chance, LHE maybe but not likely. Perhaps Omaha because it is an action game. I hope it stays NLH but wish for those of you who want to play other games that they do get off on a regular basis..just do not take the NLH fish becasue they are becomming fewer and fewer by the day.

In my opinion there are a lot of results oriented decisions being talked about concerning game availability.

Other updates:

The water bottles are now free.

Likely date for the opening of the next batch of tables is Dec 22nd. Assuming completion of the first floor table games area is finished on schedule. This brings the count into the 40s, which I believe will greatly help game selection (which requires an overhead of empty tables to allow a natural flow of short games to full games). For anyone who hasn't noticed the temporary walls behind you, all the rest of the 60 or so tables are already there, just behind two soft walls. As they are allowed by the state they can instantly be up and running by taking the soft wall down. Hell even the tables are already numbered as if the rest of the room is open.

You don't play in the games so don't comment on how good or bad the LHE games are. Enjoy the bottom feeder games

Did that help your ego?

Will be heading over around noon today. If you see a kid that looks like he's 15 please say hello or "sup bro." Will be wearing a black jacket and have red-ish hair.

Here now playing 1/2 at a local nitfest table, 8/16 interest list started for o8 an hold em. Turned my free $75 to $425 on Hoot Loot, solid start to my Parx career. Room looks great. Once they open the rest of the tables behind the partition room will be huge.

Not for the sake of one nights activity being an indicator of anything, but to give another post some counterpoint. The night before the 15 was jammed at 2am with people hovering around the table waiting to get in and a list. I spoke to people who said it was still going at 5am.

This does not mean it will run well all the time, as much as someone drawing the conclusion that it never will from a slow night.

Does Parx have tournaments? If not, will they in the future?

Sorry if that's been discussed but I haven't seen any mention in all the reviews.

^As far as I know they don't currently have tournaments but will once they expand to their full size. I think someone said January for tournaments?
