Anyone near Parx that I can crash w? Will sleep on the floor if no other option. I am considering starting a new life on the road traveling from poker room to poker room and left home a few nights ago w nothing but the clothes on my back, my computer, my car and my phone. I don't know anyone out here. I'm grinding the $1000 I have w me in cash at Parx at the 1/2nlh ss ninjaing $100 buyins in a 3yrsagoMikewolfesque way and do not like sleeping in my car or paying 90$ for motels one bit and could use a hand. Longtime 2p2 contributor. Here is my PGC thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...athon-1428751/

If anyone even wants to meet up to grab a drink or just chat about poker while I'm out here let me know via PM. Will check my messages every few hrs. Do not know where I will be sleeping tonight. PS I am a dude lol don't let the avatar fool you, that is just for my viewing pleasure.

Uh... have you *ever* eaten at a California casino (e.g. Bike, Commerce, Bay 101, etc) ? The food there is 10x better, fresher, larger menu. Parx could take a hint from them if they cared about the players.

1 and 3 are PCGB issues - no room in PA can implement your suggestions AFAIK.

2 - I'm open to hearing your suggestion for how, but no way will I agree that dealers selling chips out of the wells is a good one. Too much time spent on fills. I much prefer the current system. Keep some blacks or greens in your pocket if you want to keep people in the game when they get felted.

4 I have no opinion on, but I will say that if you have to tell people over and over again that they need to wake up and realize that something is bad, it probably means that no one else agrees or cares.

5 - the food has definitely gotten worse and more expensive over time. But it's still fine afaik. Improvements are welcome, of course. And as a random aside, the chipotle chicken wrap special tonight was awesome.

6 - free alcohol would be great, but it's easy to spend other people's money. until other rooms have this (and promote it) and people start abandoning the room for this reason, it probably won't change.
1. and 3. may be PGCB issues but it does not mean it cannot be changed.

2. They could allow cash to play until a chip runner comes to change it into chips. They did it this way in vegas this past summer as they do no allow cash to play anymore. It worked. Yes, I understand this is a PGCB issue as well.

4. You shouldn't have an opinion on the matter or know much about it bc you play 15-30 lhe. The regs who have an understanding have voiced their opinion but nothing has happened. I just want more people to speak up so its not just regs complaining. They had someone compare the bbj drop from $20 to $50 and the bottom dollar for the casino is not effected much while it does effect the bottom dollar of individual players.

5. If Parx poker room food is "fine" to your palate, god bless you. Enjoy that processed chicken chipotle wrap. The coffee isn't even brewed btw its made from concentrate. Says a lot about their food and beverage standards.

6. "Its easy to spend other people's money?" I mean come on... it's a casino ffs! How do u feel compassion for the casinos money? BTW other PA rooms do have free alcohol for stakes as low as 1-3 and up.

I understand Parx is your favorite local room, as it is mine as well, but you can't act like a shill with these bias opinions bc Parx is the only room that spreads your game. We all want Parx to be the best.

Sorry for confusion. I wasn't comparing numbers as in Parx vs SH. Obviously Parx crushes SH in this comparison. I was referring to Parx's numbers from previous months/years since the opening of competition.

Fish- you're being totally condesending. Don't throw an opinion/suggestion out there. Then when people comment and expand on it tell them their opinion is bunk in so many words. Not going to get a whole lot accomplished with that sort of response.

Fwiw I agree pretty much everything you said. Especially the food.

I don't think I was being condescending. I apologize if it came off that way. Just trying to have an open discussion that included rebuttals and reasoning.

Yes. I was at commerce 3 weeks ago. Their food is much better, I agree, but it is also ****tier now than it used to be, if you haven't been in a while. It's also no longer free.

I will agree that I am not a tough grader in this regard. It is casino comp food.

Parx is the only large room where I've seen take out menus passed around so commonly, and so many folks bring their own food in (including heated leftovers in insulated lunch bags).

Pretty severe indictment.

You can't even get food from the "restaurants" that are in the main casino without walking over there yourself. At least let us order from those places!

On the other hand, its easy to be "distracted" when ordering (when the distractions occasionally wander through).

Some rooms don't let you order out. Borgata doesn't even let u eat in main room.

Taj mahal had them everywhere in its heyday.

Its hard to tell intent on a message board, sorry if I read it incorrectly. Like I said I agree on everything. Especially the food.

I guess the grass is always greener...

I divide my time between Borgata and Parx(usually just go to Parx on Tues) but I will say this: the dealers are better at Parx and the Floorpeople are better at Parx. And although the Borgata blows Parx out of the water regarding dining choices and the overall ascetics of the room, I feel that A) no place is ever going to be perfect and B) you really do have to weigh the good with the bad. For me, having top notch dealers and Floorpeople slightly outweigh that gourmet steak from Bobby Flay's. I just pick up a quick salad nearby before I head on in to the room; no big deal. BUT, would it hurt to have a nice coffee shop on the premises? Or a gift shop to pick up some odds and ends if need be? Not having either of those things is a little odd if you ask me.

Also: I actually give Parx a +1 for charging for alcohol. Overall I think it's the safer thing to do.

With new casinos popping up every and the possibility of Meadowlands blocking the pipe line from nyc/north and central jersey to Parx, Parx should be worried about ingraining a positive impact on their customers while they can. The borgata still prospers bc people have

For me, its one of the reasons I do not play in Parx (except an occasional tournament). When Parx goes out of their way to erase the comps after 3 months and charge me for a beer, when I pay $12 an hour in rake, let's just say I prefer to give my business to Harrahs and Borgata instead.

Oh I see.. Still some time away for that but with the possibilities of any new casino (ie Live! in south philly), Parx should make their casino a destination customers would prefer to visit bc it's "their" casino and not just out of convenience.

Seems like competition is going to be inevitable and it sucks for poker rooms. Eventually the market is going to be so saturated causing games to dilute. I guess this is why we have to enjoy things in the moment.

Greenwood Gaming (Parx owners) owns 50% of the Live! casino in South Philly. Their partner The Cordish Companies - owners of Maryland Live! - owns the other 50%.

I agree with a lot of Solidfish's points.

No free drinks, and not having instant chips for cash rebuy are the two things that can annoy a first-time customer enough not to patronize Parx in the future, I've seen it. Not that I want chips in the trays, but the floor and chiprunners have to make up for it somehow or maybe dealer can give temporary 100 denomination lammers or something (for I.o.u purposes)

Better food options... I mean think of the amount of people that need to eat with no directly accessible restaurant in the casino (I feel horrible for anyone who goes down to eat in the racing cafe) Its such a joke and a slap in the face to offer the disgustingly soggy pizza slices.

Even the snack machine is lame, offering very few hearty options (no nuts? Granola/power bars?) Not to mention everything that comes out of it is ice cold.

But not having free drinks is hurting the most. If they're worried about liability of too many people getting drunk, how about something like two free drinks per day with valid Parx card. Anything? Jeez.

I also agree with a previous poster, they do have great personnel, mostly. Good dealers, floor, very nice food runners (Drink service needs to be timed better). So at least this is a benefit. Also the room is not loud or chaotic like some other casinos and the games are great. So, there's that too.
