Any public transportation or commercial shuttles connecting Parx with DC area? Really wanted to come check the place out but I don't drive right now (long story).

You can take Amtrak to Philly 30th St station, then switch to Septa up a few more stops, then cab or bus it the final leg (or just cab from 30th st), but it is not convenient and probably reasonably pricy.

No commercial mass transit direct to the door from Philly or NY (or DC) any longer.

It's the 21st century, ffs. We KNOW smoking and secondhand smoking KILLS people, so go THE **** outside if you want to smoke. Why parx caters to the lowest common denominator is beyond me, but i won't support it any longer. And I'm not gonna lie, I secretly hope everyone involved in allowing indoor smoking dies a horrible and painful lung cancer death.

Although I do not agree with this above post, the "smoking area" is within feet of the live poker area. It definitely is noticeable that people are smoking and can get quite annoying at times. Also the smokers tend to drift closer and closer to the tables in the back corner of the room without much resistance from security and light up half way to the smoking area.

I would much prefer the room make the smokers go OUTSIDE to smoke.

If you sit in the back corner all day for a tournament your clothes will smell like smoke when you leave.

I heard someone invented a device known as a washing machine.

There's a washing machine at parx? Can I use comps?

fwiw, I don't play tournaments, smoke, or even go anywhere near that part of the room and usually smell like smoke when I leave parx.

$5 comp dollars per load, drying is $3.

It does suck that people can still smoke indoors these days! I wish Parx would prohibit this. Make the idiots go outside to die, I mean smoke

This will change soon I believe. More people are complaining about it.

FYP

Y'all want table game access so people can stumble into the games and make em juicier. Y'all don't want to smell like smoke. IMO something has to give. Get rid of smoking, you'll never have pit degens.

If/when the move to the main building occurs, will this tune change?

-Nonsmoker who would prefer as many people feeling welcome at Parx.
(Don't like the smoke, YOU leave! It's a G.D casino!!!)

Something must have changed in the last 6 months regarding the smoking. There was always a trace or the disgusting cigarette smell on my clothes the past few years, but it has gotten noticably worse the last 6 months, no idea why.

thinking of heading to parx for some poker tonight looking to play some 2/5, what is the limit on their ATM?

Depends on your bank?

I know I have pulled a grand out of their ATM before. Whatever your bank will allow I'm sure they can handle.

Few questions about Parx as I have never been but thinking about it.

1- Do they have a hotel and if so how easy to get overnight stay comped? I get two days a week at Borgata with only a red card.

2- How far would you say the drive is from Borgata to Parx?

3- Do they have a semi high limit room separate from the main tables? For example at the Borgata they have a back room for game like 10/20 limit and 5/10 NL

4- Final question. What no limit games go off almost every day and can you list the max buy in for each.

Thanks in advance for taking the time.

1) Parx does not have a hotel connected with it but there is one that is about a 2 minute drive away. You can get discounts there but not free afaik

2) mapquest

3) Sort of; an area has a small wall around it (about 3-4 feet high) where the higher stakes games are played. Parx poker room is much quieter than Borgata though so I don't think it's really an issue either way.

4) 1/2 and 2/5 are running nonstop (2/5 might shut down on a weekday from like 5-7AM but is almost always running). 10/10 runs a decent amount but not always; regs from that game have posted in here when it runs and when it doesn't before. Seems like it just depends on how much interest they have at any given time.

Unlikely tonight, but i'm sure it could get going during the week. People need to be willing to play short for an hour or two and it will fill up.

Totally agree. It used to be more tolerable, especially if you were seated near the cage. Now I smell the stench the second I reach the lobby area. We've all become smokers in the past few months, whether we wanted to or not.

fwiw, it's gotten REALLY bad. Tonight was really smokey, even just in the air. I wonder if (if they even had smoke eaters) if they are broken or something.

FWIW part 2, I was in the room last night, and did not notice the smoke any more or less than usual. Light conversation with a smoker at my table indicated that the fans in the smoking area which draw the smoke up and out seem to be working as normal.

Having said this, I did hear one of the floors make a casual reference to some changes that were planning to be made in the near future over by the bar. I don't think the changes were because of the smoking complaints, but I think I heard him say that it would probably mean that they would have to close the smoking area. I meant to follow up with him to ask, but forgot. I'll do so at my next visit.

Thank god if they close the smoking area. It's completely ridiculous that there is still a "smoking section" in any public place like this. About time Parx moved into the 21st century.

+1

Next step is to ban all the morons who drive there in vehicles that rely on gasoline. Burning fossil fuels in the 21st century - hard to fathom.

Don't nobody get their hopes up.

After clarification, the issue is that they will likely be unable to use the adjoining room for tournaments in the future, so they are looking at new ways to accommodate the extra tables needed. One proposal is to put them all the way back to the back wall around the bar. If they do this, the smoking area will have to go, but only for the duration of the tournament series. Though of course it could be made permanent, who knows.

No one is sure what will happen to smokers at that point (if indeed it comes to pass at all). Perhaps they will be able to walk over to the adjoining room and smoke there. Perhaps they will have to leave the building. Time will tell.
