Depends on where in NYC really. From the NJ side of the GW bridge you could make it 90 minutes with light traffic.

I go to Parx from Manhattan and it takes 85-90 minutes. it's 2 hours to AC and 2.5 hours to Foxwoods.

Have they opened any opt-out tables which are BBJ ineligible? I feel like it'd be a good way to 1) weed out the nits and 2) find the people who don't know enough (they'd be the ones at BBJ eligible tables still).

However, this might cause an influx of better players to the bbj tables if they get juicy enough with players who are ignorant to how bad EV-wise the BBJ drop is, and I guess goes against conventional logic...

Assuming you mean 1-2 or 2-5: No, and based on their decision not to let entire games move in and out, I doubt this will happen.

So the rake is 5+1 for bbj now and in your opinion how is it working so far?

Yes. Fine, I guess? No sure what sort of insight you're looking for . I don't play in a BBJ game, but I haven't seen any riots or picketing amongst the NL players.

What time does 6/12 oe get going on a Monday?

Any more lower than 15/30 LHE games running since the BBJ?
Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ in OP Quote

I believe OE gets going early - well before noon.

No lower LHE has run yet to my knowledge, though I think they're hoping it will start again maybe, at least at 3-6 (which is BBJ eligible, unlike the 6-12 ATM). A few people just need to be willing to get it started short.

haven't seen any smaller limit in months. They called 3/6 late at night wednesday, didn't go.

This room provides excellent value to the players. I have been here the last two weeks, mostly playing weekday evenings, and the mid limit games run consistenly and the time charge is more than reasonable.

$6/half for 15/30
$7/ half for 30/60
$4/ half for 6/12 OE w/kill

On top of those low rates they allow new players to skip the time charge for their first full half hour, and management will go out of their way to justify half time for active players if the game isn't full or their are several players walking.

Fully jealous of all the players in the Philly area that get to call this place home.

Agree with Luke. Everyone will have complaints about their home room but Parx is head and shoulders above everyplace else in PA, at least for these games.

I'm usually playing the 1/2 and for anyone asking about the 5+1 drop now, I honestly don't mind. It really did soften the games right up. Not that 1 week is enough time to tell, but the bbj was definitely a good addition for that game imo

Yeah man, people from all over suddenly jumped in their cars to chase that 25k!!! Plus the 25k that's been raked off the tables in the last nine days. Also great for softening games up. Just from being there a few days I haven't seen any increase in the total amount of tables, so not sure who's not coming that usually does.

It's an awful player tax at the best of times. Nevermind when less than honest people get a hold of it.

I don't get why it's so damned *low*. California casinos start the BBJ at 100k, and usually for any quads or better beaten. Why is Parx being so cheap about it?

What are you talking about? Every casino "starts out" a BBJ exactly once - when it is first implemented. After that, when one gets hit, the next one is the reserve BBJ.

If you're used to cali jackpots "starting" at 100k, which I assume you mean after one had gotten hit, it's because they've build up reserve jackpots that support that over time. Given time, Parx' jackpot will do the same.

[edit: and for that matter, according to this site, only 4/23 california casinos have a BBJ which is 100+ right now]

I've seen the formulas being used, but didn't post them because they are somewhat complex. The short version is that first the primary jackpot increases quickly until it hits 200k. The the first reserve jackpot increases quickly while the primary slows down, until the first reserve also hits 200k. Then both increase moderately and a second reserve jackpot starts to build at about the same rate as the other two. So over time you should see the jackpots in the 200+ range, without having a boom/bust that happens to a room when the jackpot gets really big, and is then followed by one which is (relatively) tiny.

At the moment, yes. They have waffled back and forth in the past though.

Why would this be an issue? Too much space under the table or are they worried about something else? Seems weird to me that a room would consider outlawing them.

I'm sure it's a security thing. I should clarify that they've been allowed for almost the entire history of the room, there were just a few brief periods when they were checking all bags, and I think a brief period when they were not allowed (right after the Boston bombings iirc).

also what time does 10/10 usually start? i don't mind getting there at like 3 if it means the game starting earlier.
