I like the no-cash too. Borgata deals about 4hands/hour partially because of all the annoying fills.

Thanks for the replies guys. I never considered it from the point of view of speeding up the game by reducing fills, which makes sense. I guess I will relax a little bit and come donate at Parx again sometime soon.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

I love the no rebuys at the table rule. I wish every casino had the same rule, especially in time games. I can't count how many hours I've spent in Atlantic City watching chips counted, paperwork signed, and racks being filled. And black chips do play at 1-2 tables, but when I play 1-2 I prefer to have a couple hundred in green in my pocket making it easier to replenish my stack when I lose a hand or two, for 2-5 I'll keep 500 in black in my pocket.

Yeah keeping chips in your pocket is the ideal solution. Not only for yourself, but so you can sell chips to people so they don't miss hands either.

Blacks definitely play at 1/2 and every time I've seen someone pull them out of their pockets, someone has given them a stack of red to play with. Sometimes if you're in the BB or something, you just put the black out as your BB and the dealer will ask someone if they can chop it, similar to when someone puts a big chip out in a tourney and it needs to be broken. If you're very worried about missing hands then keeping 3 blacks in your pocket is the way to go at 1/2.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

On my initial visit to the cage, I purchase a buyin in red and a buyin comprised of big chips ($100 green, rest black). It's nice to be able to top off and sell to other players. Regs will generally have a plethora of big chips on their person in case one fires off too many shells.

I put the chips in my wallet like a weirdo. Don't believe I've ever lost a chip at the casino. Contrastly, I once found 3 green chips in the top layer of soil outside of my apartment. I thought I had won the lottery. Doing some backtracking in my mind, I realized that I forgot to cash them out and that they had fallen out of my wallet. I'm such a dunce.

How many runners does the Saturday 200 typically get?

Love the no rebuts at table for reasons stated. Hate the idea of cash playing as it is easy enough to buy black chips and keep in your pocket, or if you don't do that heavens forbid you may even miss a hand or even 2...enough people trying to pull angles as is, let 100s play and magically a few hundos will appear when someone has the nuts and you push all in thinking the guy has 600 but somehow there was another 1000 in hundreds that were "visible" errrr were behind his 6 stacks of red.

I fully agree after considering all the responses. Only thing is I think it'd be better if purples played at 2/5, so I could just bring my 2-3 buyins for the night with me from the start. Still probably worth it overall if it speeds up the game.

This past Saturday, there were 76 (including rebuys). Tourney started at noon and finished when I busted out 5th ($1106) at around 7:30pm (remaining 4 chopped).

But I have to wonder, Am I the only one paranoid about having chips in the pocket? When I'm playing 1/2 at Parx, I usually kept 4 greens and 3 blacks in my pocket to add-on / re-buy, but was always paranoid that they would slip out of the pocket and be lost forever. Am I the only paranoid person?
I keep at minimum one re-load in my pocket in high(er) denom chips.
Only thing I'm paranoid about is having to later touch the inside of my pocket after a few greens have been rubbing up against the fabric all day.

Zip-loc baggies are your friend. You'll probably get some stares though.

Seriously, dude? You would prefer if the other players in your game stopped losing so much money? Ya didn't think this through too good, didja?

As an aside, NY passed an amendment allowing seven new casinos in the state. But the first 4 are all slated for upstate. A potential casino in NYC isn't approved until at least 7 years from now. So Parx should still be seeing its share of NYC refugees for the foreseeable future.

There are a lot of players like you who don't catch on right away. But, its just a standard thing here to have your reloads in pocket instead of getting them from the cart. Carry 10 extra greens for 1-2 or 10 extra blacks for 2-5. It is a shame that people have to be turned off because of the reload situation

thanks for posting, that's terrible for NYC locals. It also seems pretty silly for NY state in general, where can they put four new casinos? The mountains? Albany? Syracuse and Niagara already have places...

Great news for Philly/AC though.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Here's a link with some details. The first phase is for the Catskills, Capital District/Albany, and Southern Tier. I know Seneca has a Salamanca room in the Southern Tier, but I don't think there are any other casinos or poker in any of these areas. I'm not an expert though.

I think the staged rollout was part of the political dealing that went on to keep the current licensees and indian interests from pouring lobby money into a campaign against the amendment.

I agree that they should allow bigger denomination chips play in 2/5 other than $100 chips. It really is cumbersome to have 10 chips or more floating around in your pocket. The game gets so deep that it shouldn't be a problem to make change for a pumpkin or purple chip. As long as you keep the big chips visible like a human being, it shouldn't be a problem. Fwiw borgata allows all oversized chip denominations play at any big bet game (esp at a 100bb 2/5 NL) and weird chip hiding/angle stories aren't prevalent.

Weren't there angling issues when larger denomination chips were allowed at 2/5? The $500 chips are NOT oversized and had the similar blue edges as the $2 and $5 chips. Like you said, it shouldn't be an issue as long as people act reasonably, but just one bad apple can ruin the lot.
