They've been talking about it forever. I hope it stays that way, as I won't be able to play at Parx for quite a while. It's the closest Casino to my hometown, and has a great Poker Room... if they implement a BBJ, I'll be far less inclined to play there.

So you will drive further to play in another room that also has a bad beat? Impractical to think they could survive forever without promotions. EVERY surrounding room in 200 miles has a bbj they have to compete with.

Hi all. I live in SC but will be visiting Reading, Pa regularly over the next several months for work. What are the best nights to get into the 2/5 NL games here?

Assuming you're staying near Reading, it's a bit more than an hour if you take the turnpike(tolls), assuming no traffic. If you take the freeway it's gonna be more like an hour and a half.

Sands in Bethlehem and Hollywood towards Harrisburg would both be 15 minutes maybe more closer. Sands will have 2/5 or bigger almost 24/7 Hollywood I'm not sure.

No, I'll just be less likely to play overall. I'll probably ONLY play if the jackpot is really high, knowing that I'm paying the drop. IDK, I just don't really like the BBJ. If I wanted to play the lottery, I would.

But I understand that a lot of people really like it, and it loosens play up a bit. Just stating how it's going to impact me, which is mostly negative.

Any 2+2ers still in the Big Stax tournament? Final day is today and I was thinking of heading up there later tonight and maybe catch some of the FT.

Parx typically doesn't run a 5/10. The closest consistent 5/10 game is at Borgata. Parx runs a 10/10 but I don't play it so others will have to comment on how often it goes.

I noticed that to i assume it has to do with their own successful Big Stax tournaments.

Anyone else thinking that PARX will lose some volume after NJ online poker is up and running ?

I know I will be spending a lot less time there, I wonder if anyone else agrees.

Maybe at first, but it might get more people interested who haven't been playing much

WPT was not profitable for parx. The cost of the WPT in name, the final table set, fees etc made Parx go to their own Bigstax tourney 4 times a year.

The WPT has a set fee they charge each casino and the numbers just weren't there for parx to do it again vs setting up their own small tourney which they seem to do very well in.

Played the 6 oe game today. 3 tables mid afternoon. From the talk there is an influx of players that were regs at taj. (Taj dropped there oe game?)

Of course the nice older lady explained why she liked the two game format so that if you are unlucky at one then you might be lucky at the other on a particular day.

Also she likes playing stud vs holdem players.

She the proceeded to play most hands. Chase weak backdoor draws for 1/2 pots. Call down light. Etc.

Made for a good day. Never made it to the main table.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Sorry if this has been covered before, but am I the only one who finds the cash game rebuy situation at Parx to be infuriatingly stupid?

What I'm talking about is how if you get busted in a cash game, you can't rebuy at the table (nor does cash play), so you are forced to sit out a hand or two at least while you get more chips. Even if there is a chip runner nearby you are guaranteed to miss at least one hand.

So the last time I went to Parx, I busted three times in the same day on the small blind every time, resulting in me getting dealt out on my button immediately afterwards. That was in February and I haven't been back since, for this and no other reason. In fact even now that I'm thinking back on it it's making me unreasonably angry.

I've just been going to Sands ever since, which allows you to rebuy at the table like God intended. I still feel that it kind of sucks that an otherwise perfectly good poker room is off my list because of a silly little thing like this. I'm wondering if any of you guys who play at Parx regularly are pissed off by this, and/or anyone has discussed this policy with the management and is there any chance of it ever changing?

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

I'm not at all pissed off by it (in fact I prefer it), but I also play limit where it's not really an issue (because a big stack will often trade for cash or loan a few stacks while waiting for the chip runner, since it's limit and their whole stack isn't really in play).

Reasons I prefer it as is:
* Trays are not really big enough to hold enough chips for the drop and for selling chips to players to begin with
* Don't have to get frequent tray fills, slowing the game down
* Easy enough to just buy some extra blacks or greens and keep them in your pocket, for your own personal use, or to sell to other players when they are in need
* Oh noes! You missed a hand!

I certainly understand that not everyone shares this view, and YMMV.

I wouldn't have a real issue if $100s played, at least long enough for a chip runner to come change them out, but Parx petitioned to allow this, and the PGCB denied the request, so there's not much they can do about it.

If this is really the reason you don't play in the room, then *shrug* it takes a village I guess. Vote with your feet.

I'm sure management is open to listening, but I don't think there is any indication that they are thinking of changing this policy anytime soon. And if asked, I would certainly vote against a change.

I thought about doing exactly this but never bothered because it seems that the dealer wouldn't be expecting it, so you'd have to be on the ball with putting the new chips out there before the next hand begins... right after losing your whole stack.

Assuming it can work, is it okay to rebuy into the 1/2 using 3 black chips or into the 2/5 using two purples? I don't think it would be reasonable to carry more than one buyin in smaller denominations than that in your pockets...

On the other hand if I am rebuying into 1/2 for 3x$100 how exactly is that slowing down the game any less than just rebuying with $100 bills? I guess there's the possibility of a big stacked player giving you a stack of reds for a black but I think in most cases the dealer would have to make change anyway.

Haha yes I realized this might sound kind of petty, but if you've just paid a round of blinds and now are forced to sit out the button and cutoff, that just sucks. I found it extremely tilting. I'm also a pretty bad player and this caused me to leave the room instead of rebuying again so maybe you guys should care, too

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

I'm pretty sure blacks play on the 1-2 tables (if not, you'd have to have greens in your pocket instead). Not sure about purples at 2-5, but again if not you'd need to have blacks in your pocket. As long as you're using chips that are in play at the table, that's all you need to do to not miss hands.

It's not a matter of 3x100 chips slowing the game down more than 3x100 bills. If another player won't, a chip runner can break your black chips down further if you want, but in the meantime your chips are in play and you don't miss hands. This is not true of cash. And the dealers don't get involved in breaking it down at all (or at least, they don't have to), so they don't need frequent fills they way they do in rooms where dealers do sell out of the rack.

I don't think the dealer not expecting it is really an issue. If he skips you, speak up and say you're pulling chips out of your pocket, and he'll back it up and deal you in.

I don't think it's petty for you to want to play your button, but you won't always bust out on your button, and a single missed hand is not the end of the world in any case. And if you really don't want to miss a hand, you can take steps to make sure you don't (with chips in your pocket).

Again, I understand the desire to make the rebuy process as frictionless as possible, but I don't think people realize exactly how much time is lost to tray fills in rooms that sell out of the rack. If all the regs bought extra chips and sold them to newbies and casuals who don't know the rule about cash, then no fish would get tilted and leave.
