I was looking at Parx tournament schedule, seems like their fees are considerably lower than just about anywhere else, no? Am I missing something?

that would be part of their marketing ploy.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Hey everybody,

I'm going to play live for one of the first times in quite awhile. Play online mostly past few years. Micros mostly. Can anybody speak specifically to the 1/2 games? Is it reg infested? What's the skill level like considering its not in AC where there's mega tourists and gambling donkeys everywhere. Standard open sizing and generally aggressive or passive games? I'm assuming depends on the opponent but shed any light. Thanks.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Are there Brooklyn buses still going to Parx? Does anyone know times of departure and location? I know some that have tried to find out in the past, but the people who run the buses didn't speak english very well.

Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

So for everyone saying there are no buses going to the casino does that mean that google maps is wrong? I'll be trying to go from the megabus station at 30 st. station and it looks like public transportation gets there just fine on G maps..

Correction: Greyhound NYC-Philly --> 11th St SEPTA train --> Bus#50

Trip took: Greyhound (2 hours), SEPTA (15 mins), Bus (30 mins)

Round trip total cost: $32

Yes, it is easier by car pooling, but I did not have that option this past Sunday. Public transportation was smooth all around, and I got in a solid power nap on Greyhound.

30th St SEPTA train --> FTC --> Bus#50 --> PARX
Will take you about 1 hour, and cost 2 tokens.
You get 5 tokens from the machines for $9. Good deal.

Penn Station NJ transit to Trenton --> SEPTA Trenton Line to Cornwells Heights --> Cab to PARX
Takes roughly 2 hours total.
And costs around $75 roundtrip.

What I like about this route is the flexible return. The transfer between trains is seamless and the only gap in service is between about 1 and 6am: http://www.septa.org/schedules/rail/pdf/tre.pdf

Do the mid/high stakes mixed games ever get going on weekends during the tournament series? I know they're normally on weekdays...

Have people in here been playing the Big Stax? Is registration easy? Good turnout/fields?

Planning on playing the $500 and maybe the $1,000.

I would say over 1300 players and 86K for first place in a $330 buy in event should tell you all you need to know....

Got to play in the 6/12 limit game today. Very good game. First hour half the pots had a 3 bet on at least 1 street. Even after it calmed down a little there was still lots of chasing and calling going on. Can't beat the rake deal, the number of deals per down and the friendly atmosphere (in contrast to the oe sometimes).

:thumbs up:

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Is there a 1/2 Kill on LHE as well? I personally don't like having a kill in the game (bankroll killer for me) but I understand why most players like it. Anyway JW, cuz if there's no kill I may play LHE more. Otherwise it has very little appeal to me, if I want to play limit I'd rather it be O8.

Anyway I probably won't be able to play for a while anyway. Maybe in a couple months I'll try to get O8 going.

No kill in the hold em games, but obviously there is more variance in limit hold em than omaha8 (assuming you play omaha correctly), so it's prob a wash.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2013.03.18

Yeah I have basically no LHE experience, I guess it makes sense that the variance is higher based on the nature of the game. I just really enjoy O8 so I'd be willing to take some entertainment money for it at some point. To be honest I probably won't be playing anytime soon I'm just interested in case I become bankrolled for that game in the next few months.

If anyone's interested in O8 this weekend I'll see if I can sell some of my action to friends that way I can play. If there's no interest in the next couple days though that's fine I should probably get ready for school soon anyway lol.

$1/hr for most games, $2/hr for 10-10 NL, 15-30 LHE and mix games and up.

Game moves pretty quick, prolly 13-14 hands per down? Go on the low side of 26/h at an average rake of $4? for $104/h divided by 8.5 players (walkers, time to fill empty seat, playing short), for $12/h approx rake under standard conditions.

So $8/h is a great deal.

Of course every once in awhile you have to have your set cracked by Q3o when Bozo calls a flop bet on T75r, picks up a gutter draw (6) on the turn and calls again and hits the bottom straight on the river.

$8/hour for 6/12 is the best structure in the universe. Remember the least amount of money that comes off the game is always the better choice. You can't win it if they don't have it! And the "well i'm a super tight player" that doesn't work, especially here. the 2nd pot you win is $8/hour.
