Re: PARX Poker Thread

Soft drink = free
Coffee = free
Tea = free
Water = $1 WTF - u can get tap water for free, but bottle water is $1

Comps are $1 per hour (woohoo).

Just left the room, and it is fairly packed. They had stud, omaha h/l going, and were starting up 15/30 game.

Also - 4/8 is the lowest game they will be running. First thing when I walked up is I heard a guy complaining that there are no 2/4 games.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Well, I was under the impression that all of Parx East was going to be completely smoke free. I won't pass judgment until I experience it for myself, but my excitement level has gone from a 10/10 to a 5/10.

The no free drinks is annoying but not a deal breaker for me at all. I don't drink much, especially when playing, but I love when the rest of the table has drink after drink.

I'm still going to check out the room and will most likely enjoy my time there, but the early reports are somewhat dissapointing.

As far as the poker goes, how are the games? Chips, tables, cards? How is everything non smoke related going so far?

Re: PARX Poker Thread

The smoke is not bad at all. I was sitting at a table which was pretty close to the bar, and you could not smell it whatsoever (except the guy next to me who was smoking)

The 2/5 games were nice, max buy in is $1000, so that will be a nice action game.

Dealers are doing OK.

This room will rock once they get kinks figured out, and stop charging $1 for a water.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Just out of curiosity where does parx get off thinking that they can get away with not spreading any 2-4....I mean that can be the most the most absurd thinking I've ever seen....

With the economy how it is the older crowd who doesn't care about rake or points will be shut out of action cuz there $140 bankroll won't last in 4-8

Let me know on January 13th in the dead of the winter after holiday season there gonna wish
They had those 5 2-4 games going

Now I play plo8 so this doesn't affect me in the least but was wondering the logic behind not spreading 2-4 which is a money maker for the casino?!???

Re: PARX Poker Thread

I, for one, think dropping 2-4LHE is a great idea - for us, as players. That frees up at least 3 tables for other games. Let's hope they don't use them to add more NL. I'd much rather see a rotation game spread (at mid-stakes limits), PLO, Omaha-8 or even more room for 4-8 and/or 8-16LHE.

Those games will generate similar rake for the house.

The argument that 2-4 brings new blood to the game is off-track. 2-4 is the modern day 1-5 stud. It's past it's prime.

I'm confused. He was smoking while sitting at the table? Say it ain't so! But if so...tell me someone told him to stop.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

I went to Parx room this morning and I loved the layout of the room. It is fairly large and it looked like it had at least 20 tables going, and I think there are a few empty tables, so there is room for more.
I am not a smoker and did not smell any smoke from the bar.
The only bad things about the place so far is, the non free drinks or waters and also the dealers were a little slow. I think we were playing 20 hands per hour, but this maybe due to the first day. I think I will not pass judgment yet as it is their first day. All in all, it was a nice first day there especially since I only live 15 min away.

On a side note, I asked about tournaments/sng and the floor people were saying, they would be starting them around January.

I read this to mean that the guy smoked at the bar or elsewhere, and when he returned to the table you could smell the smoke on his clothes.

You can't blame Ari for his superiors doing the right thing for the bottom line. If the poker room is smoke-free, that's good enough for me and should be good enough for anyone who doesn't have a serious allergy to cigarette smoke.
TY Rap. I was getting kind of sick of the whining already. From people who havent even been to the casino yet!! Wot? Man up fellas , a couple 2+2ers aren't going influence a multi million dollar business to change their policies for reasons stated in rapini's post. Get it out of your mind that Ari is going to be able to change it. Non-smokers have reported it isn't a problem. Lets move on.

As for the charging for drinks...If I'm not mistaken, it's a state thing. The casinos aren't aloud to serve drinks free from what I understand. Complain to the LCB.

That is all

Drinks are free at PA Sands and they run a 3-6 limit game regularly.

I can't believe you have to pay $1 for water. I hope its 20oz, fiji, or evian atleast. Anyway, small little amenities like this should not prevent any "real" player from going to a particular poker room. I mean it is what it is... I'm just grateful that there is a brand new/state of the arts poker room located closer to where most of us posters on this thread live.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

As of 5:30 the 4-8 was still the biggest LHE game going I believe - the bigger games never got off.

[edit] as of 6:00, 11 names on the 8-16 list. Not sure if/when they will try calling it again.

After my first session there I have to say I am extremely impressed with the floor. It is a subtle difference but for the first time in the area, I forgot I wasn't in AC.

That is *********(not yelling at the messenger!).

You can get free drinks at Sands and 7 Stars players at Harrah's get all the free drinks they want. This is just a move to increase the bottom line. I'm officially protesting Parx until they at least provide complimentary draft beer and wine to poker players. Who's with me?!?!!??

Word out of Harrah's is draft beer will be complimentary for poker players within a month, so I'm sticking with Harrah's. Was looking forward to checking out Parx tomorrow night, but I have my principles. See you tomorrow Harrah's degenerates!

Who cares about 2/3 of the tables being 1/2? Ari called the 15/30 game today twice and no one sat and played short! If you sit in the game short for a bit it will fill up, otherwise the 24 reserved tables will be taken by all the low limit players!
