Parx Casino by Philly, $100 + $20 MTT

Is anyone familiar with Parx Casino. It opened not to long ago outside philly. There offer MTTs a few times a week for 100 + 20 and 200 + 30 I think. Im just trying to get a feel for the size of the fields and strength of the players. Its one of the closest places I can play live. If anyone has experience here please share anything and everything.

Tuesday night $100+20 is the best event with the largest field. (150 on average).

150 seems like a decent turnout. How do they work payouts with that sort of crowd?

Anyone have details on the monthly rake back program starting November 1st?

I heard 60 hours gets you $100 in cash and 200 hours gets you $400 in cash. They also have a level at 100 hours and 150 hours.

I heard its $60 for 60 hours, $100 for 80, $150 for 100 and $400 for 200. This came from a dealer who tends to know what's up but I haven't heard from any supervisors yet.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

From Parx website:

Quote:
60 - 79 hours • $60
80 - 99 hours • $100
100 - 149 hours • $150
150 - 199 hours • $300
200 plus hours • $400

redeem your cash prize december 9 & 10 from 12pm-12am in the parx poker room.
If you don't show up on December 9 or 10 I guess you get nothing.

^Way better than a freeroll IMO. This way they can satisfy more people than offering a freeroll where not all that qualify are guaranteed to make a profit. Also players who qualify dont have to dedicate time at a future date to play a 6hr tourn.

Pretty cool promotion. Is it going to be an every month thing, or every other month like the freeroll?

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

86 runners in the $120 last (Tuesday) night. I just played cash there last night and honestly I think I've come to the conclusion I like Parx better than Borgata, although both are far and away the best in the area. If the service was a little bit better at Parx it'd be a def win for them but I just really like the isolated area that you kind of have to seek out to play poker at. You don't always get the randoms who just stumble in but it's still not too bad.

Oh and Barry Greenstein was there for a while last night playing a big mixed game (might have actually just been Stud). Can't be bad for Parx to see big name pros starting to show up.

This might actually be a biased opinion though given the fact that after the dealer called me the happiest guy in poker last night I proceeded to check dark to the flop, flop quads, and stack a guy, and later have someone limp / 4b me while I held AA. We got it in and he had KK. And I live <30 mins from Parx. Still my fave though! <3

What are the odds of getting a PLO game going on a saturday. Also, does Parx allow you to run it twice?

Barry's been playing the tues night games ever since the Borgata tournament series started a few weeks ago. I'm not sure why he's still hanging around playing those small (for him) 150/300 HOE games, now that the series ended. Someone told me he was writing a book or something? Idk, but sure can't be bad for Parx.

Barry has family in the area, I believe, though I'm not sure he would otherwise be visiting on a weekly basis.

No on run it twice.

If you come and start a list it might generate some interest and accumulate some names. Thats kinda how PLO has been lately. Tuesday is also also a likely day

There were 88 players today and just under $5K for first.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

The last time I was here a situation came up which had me feeling about as awkward as I've ever felt at a table. Think I was in seat 7 and the dealer is a nice kid, keeps the game moving and talks with the players who want to talk. General mood of the table is a good one, people having a good time. It's around 1 AM. I hadn't been totally paying attention to what everyone was saying but there weren't any issues at the table and everyone seemed to be in a good mood.

A floor guy walks up to the table and sits down in the empty seat 9 and leans over to the dealer. He lowered his voice as if to imply he only wanted the dealer to hear what he was saying but said it loud enough for just about everyone at the table to hear: "If you ever say anything like that again I will fire you so fast you won't even see it coming. You understand? ... You understand me??" Dealer stays casual and says yeah and all that stuff. Floor pats him on the back and asks him if he wants a break, dealer says no, and floor walks away. Play continues and no one says anything until about a half hour later when me and another player look at each other and discuss it a little...other guy says he plays there often, knows the floor guy and he's usually an alright guy so he was very curious as to what the dealer said.

I'm really curious as well. What could a dealer, who seemed very mild mannered and professional, possibly say that has the floor guy threatening to fire him on the spot and letting the table hear what he says?? Just seemed out of the ordinary to me.

This is for all of those interested in PLO and those who were regs when it ran regularly...trying to get the old 5-0 game to run the way it was a while ago. Just feeling out interest in getting it back to how it was... 5-0 200-500max ... This game ran all the time until we bumped it to 1k max.. Anyone interested in getting this going again?

My summers are always busy but ill be playing more in the fall/winter.

I liked 1-2 PLO. It's not hard to calc pots....it's just not.

I like 1-2 with 200-500 though. Much , more play/strategy/game dynamics.

Sometimes there's just not much play/options on the turn/river in a $500 max $5 blind game. It's kinda shallow. 1K max is better for that particular game.

To play any kind of poker you HAVE to max buy ($500)...and even then maybe not

I say bring back 1-2 & get dealers that can multiply by 3 & add an existing pot.

$300 & $400 lead to enough play....and could attract people ok with $300 but not $500+ on single BIs

I'll play either but certainly have a clear preference

I'm surprised nobody else is upset that they're ditching the freerolls in favor of "rakeback."

It's $1/hr for 60 hrs of play. I'm pretty sure being entered into a $50,000 tournament (with an extremely soft player pool) where more than 33% of entrants get paid (50-100 get $150) is worth much more. Though I understand how this might suck if you can't actually make the tournament date.

When I heard the news I was pretty sad =(

Seems like an upgrade to me if they do it every month. They were doing the freerolls once a quarter so 4 times a year IIRC.

354 qualified for the October 50k freeroll. I assume a good amount of people skip because they stay with family on Sunday or because they play high stakes and it isn't worth their time. It's probably safe to say the tournament is worth over $200 in EV if you don't suck.

$200 in freeroll EV over 3 months < $180 in cash over 3 months

If you play 80-200hrs/month it seems even better. Granted, this calculation only works if you play 60hrs a month every month anyways and you're not just ramping it up to make the freeroll in the qualifying month.

I am assuming rakeback is going to be monthly. If not then you're right. I heard it was monthly.
