Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

Made an impromptu visit on the way to Philly yesterday. Very first hand at 2/5 I pick up AA in the BB in a straddled pot and raise to 60 after a couple limpers. Straddler ships for 126. Limper counts out 300 in greens and 20 in reds and pushes them out. I call all in for 300. (sorry I'm a bankroll nit) I hold and scoop. As the next hand is dealt, I'm still stacking my chips and fold a hand or 2. I realize my stack is only 612 instead of the 736 ish it should be.

The floor is called and we explain the story. For 5 minutes, he doesn't realize it was all in pre. He kept saying something about a final bet. After that gets settled, he said the fact it is now a couple hands later means I may be out of luck. As they review the tape, I realize I only have 7 greens. It's now fairly obvious that the dealer did not pull in 125 to match the straddler's all in. The floor comes back and talks to the player who limp raised. Then he comes to me and tells me that the cameras cannot tell how much money a player is putting out and that I have to say something before the next hand is dealt. The other player had an option to pay, but he did not.

So basically, I have to assume a dealer can't do his job and watch every move and count all of my chips in about 5 seconds. Sounds like a good ruling... Luckily the same player in question returned much more than the 125 before he took off. Karma in poker?

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

sounds like the other player angled you for 5 green chips. total dbag move. He knew exactly what he was doing hence the reason he didnt pay you afterwards.

He put in $320 preflop, you only have $300 so he gets money back. He took his greens back hoping you wouldnt notice. Happens quite often actually.

I have a hard time believing the cameras can't pick up every chip thats bet. And in this case it really shouldnt matter bc it was your first hand and you started with exactly 300. Call the floors supervisor next time.

In every casino, at every stake, at all times: keep track of all the chips going into pots you're involved in. Once you start, you'll be surprised how often you're correcting the dealer and other players' "mistakes." Usually it's only a chip or two. Occasionally it's much more.

The player in question was pretty terrible and seemed to be a recreational player. That doesn't necessarily mean anything in terms of his angling. We didn't exchange a single word at the table actually, because I thought fault lied with the dealer and casino. But his silence might be indicative of his guilt.

I didn't think of that, since I was shorted 5 greens while he had 4 reds out. To be honest, I'm still not sure what happened. But either way he either took or got money back and he obviously didn't speak up either way.

The fact that it was preflop makes it much simpler as well. While we were waiting, the table agreed it was pretty obvious that I was shorted but several thought I wouldn't get paid anyway. I will definitely call the supervisor next time, but hopefully that will never occur again.

This is definitely a lesson I learned. That would also extinguish the need to count chips after winning a pot sans the dirty stack or non standard stack sizes. My playing time has decreased quite a bit recently and I really now only play occasionally for entertainment. It's ironic that I have to be more attentive than before because of this incident.

Nice running in to you and Chris yesterday, Alan. That situation definitely sucks but it sounds like you did what you could once you noticed. Being that it was your first hand makes it that much more difficult to notice the short pot imo. Yes, you know that you started with exactly $300, but at the same time you were just getting situated when it went down. Glad to hear the guy donated more than the $125 back though.

On another note, I played on the worlds nittiest 1/2 table last night. I should have table changed way before I ended up leaving. Being that the list was 10-20 deep, how accommodating is the floor when you ask for a table change at Parx? I know people have mentioned that players table hopping is a problem here. Just wondering if the floor helps you out when you ask.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

i've had a couple bad experiences with Parx dealers.

not too long ago i had a deal (forget her name but she was a fairly young asian woman) literally fight with me over my complaint about a guy who was sitting at the table talking on his phone in a different language.

i very rarely complain about anything but the guy was talking loudly for like 15 minutes and wouldnt get up from the table. i ask dealer to tell him to hang up and she says hes allowed to. i ask dealer to call the floor and she initially refuses and gives me an attitude. finally floor comes over and tells tells the guy has cant do that (ldo). no apology from the dealer, of course.

So apparently you can't bring bags in anymore? A few guys said they had to bring their bags back to their car today. Something was said about things being stolen lately...

Hey Brad, good to see you as well. Hope your session went well. There definitely is an acclimating time when joining a table, and I agree that it is certainly observing 1 hand (which the dealer dealt to me for free utg). I'll just have to practice lowering that time in the future.

I'm not 100% about table changing. I think I only asked to be changed once but I was never able to move since my table was short. I don't think the list length should matter too much. You should have precedence over new players anyway. Just bug them (or maybe even tip them )

FYI, floors at Parx cannot accept tips (though most are dual rates and can [obviously] accept tips while dealing).

Not sure when it got up and running again but it's listed now on the Live Game Report, surprisingly.
