You can use Google Maps to point to Parx and use wherever you want as a starting point and change it to "By Public Transit" and it will give the times and various ways to get there from anywhere via SEPTA.
Thanks again! I arrive in town sept 7 around 9:30am and will drop bags at hotel then work my way through public transit to Parx. Probably end up taking a Sedan back to hotel as it's a rehearsal dinner so can't be late. I might make my way back over afterward depending on how I'm feeling. I'll follow up here as I imagine lots of you will be at Parx on a Friday and happy to meet and say hey. Sure you will enjoy my loose play! I also go to DE park on occasion.

Might be cheaper to rent a car if you are going to can oneway.

The last time I was there (2 months back), the floor said they had eliminated this game from the system. I tried to start a List of Interest, but they said they won't spread anymore.
The reason makes sense enough (as said, it breaks once the 15 gets going...).
However, I'd personally love to see it come back.

Pretty likely that's nonsense.

Well, it was a site built by someone not affiliated with parx. i suppose it is killed off until he fixes whatever is broken. i tried searching the thread to find the OP and maybe send him a PM, but didn't have much luck.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

Okay, so I have a minor issue with Parx. Overall I love the room, but the following leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I do not like when the cage tries and be my friend and asks me a question like "How'd you make out tonight?"

The reason being that if I win my answer is usually something to the effect of "I did alright" even if I have a monster day. And if I lose (no matter how much) I usually say "I lost a little." Frankly, I feel like its none of their business either way.

I know that they have good intentions and are trying to build a relationship with the players and create repeat customers. Plus if the cage strikes up a conversation with a player, that player is far more likely to tip. I understand this.

But I think it is bad for the game, because losing players do not want to re-hash how much they just lost. They do it to gamble and their primary objective is to not make a profit. Mainly, players are sometimes upset at their loss and don't want to talk about it or admit how much they actually lost. And it might eventually lead to the realization of "Every time I cash out I'm always down, I must be losing more than winning. I should probably stop coming and gambling, especially If the ****ing cage asks me how I did at the end of every night"

Now the winning players already know that they are winning players and are going to keep showing up because their primary objective is to earn a profit. So this "probing" at the cage is fine for good/winning players because they don't care to tell the cage because they know about long term winners already. But I think it is not the best practice for losing players because they could potentially realize they are losing and decide to quit the game all together.

If I had to choose to play poker at two identical casino's that are an equal distance from my house and one probed at the cage and the other didn't. I would hands down go to the casino that did not ask. Also, it is transparent when the cage is like "oh, your doing better than me" than I pity them and tip. This is like a used car salesman trying to make a quick buck. It may be good for short-term money but not long time business.

Just had this happen to me. I cashed out for a few thousand and the lady didn't even wait for my reply. She said "you have a good night? Sure looks like you did!" I was playing 10/10 and lost a few hundred so it wasn't too bad but if I lost big that would rub me the wrong way. I told her I lost a little and she replied "at least you didn't lose it all!"

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

They are just being nice. My standard reply is "I'm down 3,000 for the month" and people will stop talking, plus it's kind of funny to me. I don't like thinking of an answer or explaining if I'm up or down to a complete stranger, so I just always say I'm down.

I won't be able to change the fact that they will ask as they think they are doing the right thing, so I cut it off at the pass.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

I like how a comment about the ppl at the cage being too nice leads to a comment that the parx poker managers aren't doing something right. The staff is trying to be courteous. Everyone tries to be friendly because that's how they're trained and that's what gets more tips. I highly doubt that a cashier saying "how did you do today sir?" is going to have a fish saying "I'M NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN!" unless he had decided he wasn't coming back before that. I think the real thing going on here is that it kind of rubs us, the 2p2 community, the wrong way on one of those sessions that could have easily been big wins that turned into any type of loss because of a few beats. Most fish, imo anyway, come in thinking that they're going to gamble and have a good time. If they lose, maybe next time. If they win, they can go brag to their friends or buy something nice.

I understand bringing some things to the Parx staff's attention. Ordering a drink and not getting it after an hour is something that should be addressed because it's directly affecting your level of enjoyment. But let's not start getting upset about the staff being too nice; just seems really picky to me.

I have no problem with "how did you do today?" I do have a slight problem with "looks like you won big" when I cash out for several thousand while I could easily be down big.

They can be nice like every other floor or dealer. Just ask me how I'm doing. Don't ask me how much I won. This is pretty nitty obviously but it says a lot about Parx that this is what we complain about.

You are slightly wrong here, the poker room manager doesn't manage the cage. If you take issue with it, ask to speak to the cages manager and address your concerns to them.

That's what I figured as I've been to casinos and started a list on games/limit that have Never run before at that casino and they were able to start the game so long as the dealers had the training on that limit and game... However, I had 8 players with me that guaranteed the game would got at least 2 hours, so could be the diff...

This has happened numerous times to me at different casinos. Typically cashiers don't understand how poker really works. So some of them don't realize that someone cashing out for a lot of money doesnt necessarily mean that they won money. the next time you are there say something nicely to a cashier manager so that the cashiers can learn from this.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

I think there is simply a misunderstanding. I would think the exact same thing about someone asking just a "how'd you do tonight?" being courteous. It can actually be rude and intrusive. Someone could be stuck a huge amount of money and not know how they are going to pay their bills the next week and someone is asking how you are doing, it can be annoying. Imagine cashing in for 10k and walking out with 2k and someone cheerfully saying "Wow! You looked like you did great!", meanwhile you want to punch a kitten.

I was playing 300 dollar hands of blackjack and not doing so well and the dealer, after every single hand, would say "congratulations" or "better luck next hand" every time. Finally I just asked her to be quiet, as nicely as I could say it.

It actually does make a difference, even if people don't realize it.

If you want to save a bit you can take a cab to the nearest train station and then take the train from there. SEPTA trains tend to run fairly on-time, at least they aren't any less likely to be delayed than a cab is to run into traffic IMO, and the SEPTA trainview website will show you if your train is delayed. The Cornwells-Heights station is only about 4 miles away and is about a half hour ride from Center City. (The Eddington station may be slightly closer but trains only stop there every two hours on weekends.)

Maybe 6/12 LHE could be the answer ? Won't break when the 15/30 game gets going, and a step up from 4/8.

Could kill 4/8 but 6/12 is a better game for both player and casino anyways. Its not like there is more than 1 or 2 4/8 games anyway.

There were 91 players this past Saturday. This was the second week after the change was made to double the starting chip stack to 20K. I would assume the change will help to increase turnout.

Wish they could get an 8/16 game going - I tried twice a few weeks ago, never got started. That would be a good level. I play $10/20 at Borgata quite frequently - prefer that level....$15/30 is a $750 game while $10/20 is a $500 game. $4/$8 is too much of a nitfest....
