Tables 62 and up are in the clubhouse next to the poker room (62 nearest table to poker room). Anything 61 and below is in the actual poker room.

"Regular" gamblers (ie - slot and table game players) drink, become inebriated, then spew and blow through more cash since they're not thinking straight. This means more casino revenue. DRINKS ON THE HOUSE!!!

Poker players can get as drunk as they want at the poker tables but the house doesn't benefit from it. If anything, drunks slow the game down which means less house rake. So.. BUY YOUR OWN DANG DRINKS!!!

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

Hey all - I'm heading up to Parx tomorrow for event #4 in the Parx Open. It's my first time there. I see it says, "participants must have a valid Xclub card to participate in the tournament." on the website. I did sign up for one online - anybody know if they'll be able to look up my info at the cage with just my driver's license, or do I need to stop somewhere to pick up my card before I can register? If so, where can I do that - is there anyplace in the East Building that I can get a card at, or do I need to stop by the main casino?

Thanks. I imagine it's going to be pretty crazy there tomorrow and I have a commitment in the morning so I won't be getting there till 11:30 or so - looking to minimize my time wasted!

You can get your card reprinted (or get a new one) with a DL in the poker room. If the room is busy, it might be faster to go to the main building first to have that done, but it's a judgment call, I have no real idea.

Thanks. Sounds like a tough call! Are the two buildings pretty close to each other? May shoot over to the main one first & get the card taken care of...

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

random question, are dealers allowed to tell you the action in a given round of betting (i.e. who specifically did what action)?

I just had a ruling from floor that its not the dealers job and the dealer can NOT answer such questions.

I had thought previously that a dealer can only tell some one the action on a given round BUT NOT previous betting rounds. maybe I'm just wrong.

Normally, in a round, you can see what folks have done by looking at the chips placed in front of them... dealer shouldn't have to tell you that.

Prior round info... you snooze, you lose

thanks for the response, however I was not asking what is able to be seen and what is not.

my question is, if the dealer is or isn't supposed to provide a player with that information inside the given betting round.

when dealers start pulling people's raises in it is not able to be seen , but that fact shouldn't matter as I'm not asking what's able to be seen.

The lists typically aren't long, I've been there several times now and I think the longest I've waited for 1/2 has been 5 minutes. However, when 400 people are playing a tournament and everyone busting is heading over to play cash and they're strapped for dealers, yeah the lists are gonna be ridiculous. Think there were 63 ppl waiting for 1/2 on Wednesday around 2 PM. When the series is over though I assume the lists will be normal again.

The two buildings are maybe a 2 minute walk apart.

I don't know that there's a definitive rule for this. My gut feeling is, no, they are neither required nor responsible for explaining even the current round of action. The only exception to this might be if the action is ambiguous, or if two players chips are located close together so it's hard to tell if they are one bet or separate bets. It is also an important issue in limit games, where the number of raises is capped and bets are often thrown in somewhat messily.

So if you have a specific question (is that a bet of $20 and a call, or a single bet of $40?) they need to clarify, but if you just want to ask "who put in the original bet, and who raised?", that's something they shouldn't have to keep track of, and probably shouldn't answer, unless there is some reason that the answer wouldn't be clearly obvious to someone who is/was paying attention to the action.

Re: Parx Casino (Bensalem, PA) -- FAQ updated 2011.09.08

Played at Parx for the first time... Recognized a lot of players and dealers from my job dealing at another area room. Unsurprisingly, the room was well-run and all the dealers were good. Even though there was a really long list (about 40-50 deep for $1/2 and 10 or so for the 6/12 O/E) when I arrived at around 9:30 or so, it moved fairly quickly - in fact the list passed me by in the time it took for me to walk over to the main casino to get some cash. I got back onto it and within 30 minutes or so, I was seated... Not long after that I got called to the O/E game but I already settled in at a table I liked with one reg from my room playing.

I missed out on $10 in slot play because I got my card in the poker room. I didn't miss it much though I didn't like waiting in a line in the main room to be told this. The guys in the poker room had no idea that sigining up there meant no free slot play. A very minor criticism.

I played about 3 hours and it was a very strange session. One guy two seats to my right was raising to $7 regardless of position or the number of limpers, and doing it a lot. The guy between us was pissed at this (actually mumbling loudly "yeah, yeah, $7 raise" a few times before the guy did it) and called him a lot. If I was a better player, I would have made some big raises and taken down dead money but I didn't trust either of them to fold so the only time I did it was with a premium AK of clubs and I did indeed take it down.

I almost never had playable hands and folded a lot. On the rare occassions I picked up suited connectors, I was either OOP facing raises that didn't make sense to call, or if they made sense to play, I missed badly. Same with small pockets - never hit a set with them.

However, I was blessed with big pockets that payed off nicely: Doubled up when my Queens flopped top set and felted someone with top two... Won another $50-ish pot with Queens the very next hand on a 5-high flop after I got three callers pre. Then with pocket Kings, I raised to $15 and got three callers and flopped K66. I bet out smallish and got a caller. Bet the turn and he called. On a river he pushed and I instacalled. He had A6. Giggity.

Only big pot I lost was anther big pair: Jacks. Raise pre to $15 from the SB and get two callers. Flop is 457 rainbow. I lead out for $25, get raised to $60 by the player to my left and the same guy I felted with KK vs. A6 pushed for his remaining $85-90 or so.

If it was just him, I probably call but the guy to my left had a decent stack of around $400 and I was OOP to him. I folded my one pair and it was a mistake (though most times in that situation it probably is not). He had a suited J4 (?) while the other guy had some kind of draw that didn't hit. Meh.

Still, despite only playing a few hands and winning like half a dozen of them, I cashed out for a nice $300 profit after around three hours.

The game seemed really soft but it's one table my first time there so it's hard to judge. Plus it seemed I didn't have to play any poker - I managed a few big hands that flopped well and got paid off. There's probably not a huge difference between Parx and Delaware Park (my usual local haunt) but it'll take more play at Parx to really determine that.

I prefer low buy-in tournaments and would have went to DP but they didn't have a 10 PM except a satellite thing. I can see me playing at Parx on days DP doesn't have a tourney.

Another thing: $5 for a draft Lager - the same beer that I get at DP for $3.50 - might determine where I play all things being equal (and for me coming from Upper Darby, the drive is nearly equal).

Hey Steve (I think that's your name based of when you talked to the dealer at our table) I was the guy 2 to your right playing 80% of hands raising to 7 every time.

Nice playing with you and you played well.

This isn't my strategy every time i play live. The table was very passive and in my opinion pretty poor post flop so i was trying to build pots and play some poker, plus i cant sit there and fold for 8 hours like the guy to your left did all night!

Few tidbits: I didn't raise to 7 one time from the blinds! In fact never raised in the blinds at all (only had one big hand). I actually do change my range from early position but at that table I hadn't been 3bet once in the first 3 hours. And when people were 3 betting they were doing it for like almost min 3bets and often OOP and mildly deep so I had to call. Either way, didn't work out for me as I left a loser. Going to check out Chester after the WPT. Great playing and way to book a win!

Nice to meet you on here, Kyle! My name is Brian actually... I was just mad I could never take advantage of what had to be a fairly wide range of yours (the few times I called I missed everything) and I thought it was funny the guy between us was irritated by you (and I think you did too)... It's just as well; my timing for making moves sucks and I am sure I would have done it on you right when you had your monster... Which of course is your plan, haha! Glad we both made a few bucks...
