You meant to say "the players HERE do not want a bad beat..." ... because I suspect that all of the non-2+2'ers are hoping for one.

About the rake, 10% up to $4, just like alllllllllllll the casinos in Atlantic City is ideal.

And 10% up to $4 is totally standard. If its any higher, im gonne recruit players at parx for my no rake homegame right down the street.
It is easily accepted that most people in card rooms at lower stakes love the BBJ, they are not thinking of poker like that. This is an indisputable fact, hence why card rooms have them. When the Taj's bbj was high every other room in ac was empty.

I know you are just trying to be strong in your opinion as you don't want one and are trying and sway the manager, but don't bother as it has already been discussed and decided upon.

There is no "standard" rake, it is all relative to the area you are in. As much as I would like to see it lower for when my wife and friends come with me to play raked games it will not happen.

If you don't know, you will get banned straight out for trying to recruit for a home game, for some odd reason casinos frown on that.

You will get the low limit players, which is fine.

I highly doubt all of the complaining players worried about the rake structure even plays enough to see a substantial cut in their win rate, if they even track and have a win rate to speak of.

Before you certain players complain about speculation of rake, free drinks, etc. show some gratitude to even have the ability to play cards so close to home. Think of it like this, the money saved by not having to drive to AC can help ease the pain of possibly having to buy drinks or a rake/time structure you're not accustom to.

We will not have a bad beat jackpot.

From the photos, the layout looks great! Rooms to move between tables; great work! I'll have to take a drive out soon and get a players card and check the place out in person. To Harrah's Chester - It was nice knowing you. Well, sort of.

Will players be able to call in to get on a list? That might already have been asked/answered and if so sorry for the repetition. Oh, will you have live updates online like Delaware Park?

I'm not sure if I can make the opening day (depending on when that actually happens) but will check it out VERY soon afterwards!

Ari,

That's great news, IMO. If the rake is 10% to $4 max, that will be also be a huge win at 8/16 and below (I'm assuming the $2 chips will be ready to go on day-1 and that 4/8 & 8/16 will be the LLHE games).

Will you spread 15/30 as the step up from 8/16? That is a GREAT structure, with the 2 & 3 chip blinds. Sadly, most of AC has abandoned that for 20/40, even though 15/30 tends to promote more action. If you time charge at $5, you'll have another winner

Any update on the possibility of a "preview night"?

I am guessing they are pretty busy for a preview at this point considering they are supposed to be opening in 10 days.

Seems to me that you are wrong on both counts. Just look at the poker rooms in Atlantic City - the crowds go to whereever the BBJ is highest. Sure as plants follow the sun for light.

And the number of players who talk about wanting to hit it.... I'm happy Parx won't have one if for no other reason than that I won't have to listen to the inane and incessant please for it to hit!!

As for the $4 rake being standard.... Only in Atlantic City. Elsewhere it is usually more - sometimes a lot more!!

It depends. There are Big-time drinkers. There are people who make $30 plus per hour. There are people who like paying time instead of rake. There are many variables.

If Borgata has the lower rake..(I prefer the $5 per half hour @2/5)...gives comp $$$ which covers food.....is cheaper on tolls (from Jersey), never has a significant wait, gives free drinks........it may be worth the extra drive-time.

Parx is in a great position here. If they do it right...including all the small things....the room will be jam-packed for years to come.

But seriously, it would have been easier for you to just type "Parx" into google.
You mean north. East is New Jersey and no one wants to go there.

On all the other points I agree

I just don't understand the logic of the wait forcing a drive, as at least for me, Parx is 15 min away, and the B is 1.5 hours coming from central Jersey. The AC drive is 2.5 hours longer down and back, so the wait would have to be that long to balance it.

On a side note, where would you come from to pay tolls into Parx but not to AC? Not being snotty, I am just curious as I pay tolls on the AC expressway to get to AC, but just shoot into PA on 95.

Obviously the final decision is a blend of all factors.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you're coming from central Jersey, you can pay a one-way toll of 75 cents if you cross the Route 1 bridge from Trenton into Morrisville and then just take that to the Street Road exit (PA 132 East). Or if you can finagle it, you can take I-95 South from Mercer County across the Scudder Falls Bridge into Bucks County for free, then get off exit 37 for Street Road, PA-132 West. If you use the NJ Turnpike to the PA Turnpike, you'll be hit with substantial tolls in both directions.

Ahh right, I guess I never came into PA from that far south (turnpike). And forgot about the toll on the Trenton bridge.

I'm in Middlesex County......easiest way is Turnpike....Turnpike.....but the drive-time savings is pretty significant. It takes me 1:35 to get to the Borgata....did a test run to Parx a few weeks ago and it took 50 minutes. So the round-trip savings of 1:30 is huge.

If you were to take US-1 all the way down from New Brunswick, is that just costing you too much time to make up for the tolls you won't be paying on the NJ Turnpike/PA Turnpike? I know that at least between Bensalem and Hamilton, NJ, there are no traffic lights on US-1.

Outisde of 8pm-6am, you will definitely be hitting lights and traffic on Route 1 between NB and Hamilton.

We are still on target for Nov. 3rd. The preview night will not happen as the team is working very hard to get us open on time.
